BERLIN (Reuters) - German authorities have put a 43-year-old man into psychiatric care after he was found living with his housemate who had been dead a month, police say.
Police discovered the rotting body of the 58-year-old man on his living room couch, following a tip-off from a hired gardener who grew suspicious after being repeatedly sent away. An autopsy on the body gave no hint of foul play, police said.
"The man told us he had just stopped eating," said Hans Roeck, a police spokesman in the southern town of Aalen.

Can someone please explain why this man was sent to a psychiatrist? Can't a man live with whomever or whatever he wants as long as it's consensual?
Shalom.

It's a story from Germany, I suppose if there was necrophilia going on, he would have been left alone.

Here here. This is another case of the Morality Police interfering in what happens in the privacy of one's own home.
What an outrage...

I think the smell would have been the tip-off!

Not to a European.

I think FR needs a "bizarre and macabre" topic category.

I would imagine, with those Germans, it could get a little hard to tell if one was dead or alive.
I guess you could check for a pulse or if his bike hasn't been moved in a while you might know something was wrong.

I think eating all that kraut and gerkens has a preservative effect.

Don't think of him as "dead" - think of him as "differently vital." Necro-Americans have rights, you know. The Germans simply need to get an ADA.

I think the smell would have been the tip-off! Ahhhh . . . This happened in Germany, remember. Krauts aren't exactly known for their exceptionally high standards in the old personal hygiene department, 'ya know. Sometimes it's hard to tell a dead one from a live one.
