The White House: RECENT DEMONSTRATIONS IN IRAN

STATEMENT BY THE PRESS SECRETARY

RECENT DEMONSTRATIONS IN IRAN

The United States views with great concern the use of violence against Iranian students peacefully expressing their political views. We are alarmed at reports of arrests and provocative actions taken against students by regime forces, and call upon the regime to protect the human rights of the students and to release those who have been arrested.

Iranians, like all people, have a right to determine their own destiny, and the United States supports their aspirations to live in freedom. It is our hope that the voice of the Iranian people and their aspirations for democracy and the rule of law will be heard.

Check the Student Movement Coordination Committee for Democracy in Iran website http://www.iran-daneshjoo.org/

Some of their press releases sound like something we'd find here...

(Your reply on the dupe thread:)

"... We will not interfere........this statement will be as far as we go.

There is one way of rallying the people to the mullahs and that would be if we went in to help the students."

Possibly so, but that's what was said about Iraq before we went in there and kicked Saddam's sandcastle over.

We'd better be ready to move fast on this one. I'm talking move REAL fast here - faster than I'd ask Jennifer Love Hewitt out if she didn't have a boyfriend.

Re: Yet, he hasn't delivered.

Untrue.
A bald falsehood.

1) He's mobilized the largest military deployment in recent history.
2) Taliban and Al Queda no longer the state power in Afghanistan.
3) Kept other countries from getting involved in the Iraq conflict on either side (a *major* diplomatic victory)
4) Defeated "Chiraqs Iraq" in less time than it took klinton to defeat david koresh.
5) All of this while implementing the largest transformation of of the federal government in my lifetime.

Yes "Bush hasn't delivered", hasn't delivered *your* pizza and beer, but by my account, he's done all that freedom loving people could ask of a president.

Raised the national debt to over 7 trillion dollars .... going after a couple of terrorists operating outside this nation while simultaneously begging Congress to eliminate our individual liberties and freedoms here in America.

Man, you are crazed into republican babble speak while more illegal aliens continue to crawl across our national borders.

Yet, he hasn't delivered.

REALLY??? So ALL efforts in the middle East have been for naught? Nothing has been accomplished and we are guaranteed misery and mayhem in the USA? And of course another Democratic President?

I think not!

Yeah, we never caught Hitler either. Damn shame about Nazism beating us in WWII. I though we had them, too, after defeating their armies and siezing their capital, but then Adolph up and dissappeard, and we lost.

Germany is still reeling with fascism; man, you are blind that to the fact that just because Americans gave their blood to stop oppressive governments ..... that the idea doesn't live on.... in fact, nationalism is alive and well, here in America stomping our individual dignity.

And it is obvious, you buy the government stomping our dignity here in America.

He hasn't delivered pizza and beer, for unlike some previous Presidents, he knows what his job function is and is performing it admirably! He knows who can deliver the pizza's and beer and in his good free enterprizing spirit, leaves those concerns to the one's that can handle it the best! Pizza parlors and beer distributors.

With conviction I might add.
