Student Movement Coordination Committee for Democracy in Iran (SMCCDI) ^ | 6.15.2003 | Press Release

Posted on 06/15/2003 10:18:26 AM PDT by DoctorZIn

Protest actions and slogans against the regime have started for the 6th consecutive night "inside" main Iranian universities and especially in the Capital despite the encerclment of these facilities by the special forces.

Hundreds of students are shouting slogans against the regime and singing the banned Iranian National Anthem.

Students are requesting the immediate release of their arested and kidnapped colleagues, the resignation of the Universities managements, the expell of Intelligence members acting as students, the public trial of those involved in the last days of repression and a Free Election on the choice of the future Iranian regime.

The students are awaiting the residents to join them later this evening and many Iranians are getting ready to come back into streets from 22:00 (local time) despite knowing all dangers and risks.

Earlier today, sporadic clashes happened when groups of plainclothes men attacked forming gathering of young Iranians. These attacked took place in the Nazi-Abad, Vali-Asr and Dolat areas simulataneously which let believe of a new startegy of the regime to spread fear before the start of what can be named as a 6th consecutive night of unrest in preparation.

Brutal militiamen and members of Intelligence used of knives, clubs and chaines but young freedom fighters have retaliated.

Several have been injured but the plainclothes men have left the scenes after their commando style attacks.

I suggest they go in the streets each bearing a homemade torch and stand their ground. Let the thugs feel the heat and see the light. Handy defense for close combat and a great visual deterent. As long as you can keep people from tossing them and setting fires which could litteraly backfire. Just fill a street with folks, they don't have to do other than smile and shake their neighbors hand. Speak softly, carry a big flaming stick...

My best hopes for them. A free democratic Iran helps everybody. Except the poor mullahs and their rabid lapdogs facing retirement!

I have to admit that your tactic is better than mine because it is nonviolent.
It defends the moral high ground of their cause against propaganda attacks by the
mullahs.

It should have been "taunted". Freedom44 corrected himself in #23.

They have been tied up and taunted.

I like that almost as much as "attached to trees".

Even better "they were attached to trees and taunted".;o)

Opposition Satellite television stations have mostly all been jammed. They're collecting funds from Iranian-Americans and those in Europe to setup a radio station with the funds. They've already collected about 60k in 3 hours.

Reports from tehran that there are about 1k-1,500 demonstrating near the university. There are sporadic clashes here and there.

People are demonstrating in shiraz, and esfahan in small #'s.

Doctor, if you can, get in contract with the Bathalor and Alexander Show on WABC radio NYC. It is the most widely listened to station in the world, and can be listened to over the net.

They have a link at wabcradio.com

I am sure they would be very interested in talking to you.

Exactly!!! Finally someone who has some common political sense... Now that the administration has publicly come out in favor of the protestors the Mullas have amunition against them. Tonight will be the worst violence yet because of it.

It promises to be a turning point one way or another.

BTW, it is interesting that their president Khatami is silent. Will he resign?

No, but at least they are reporting on it.

If they want to get all of the lastest news, they should be reading freedom44, Ernest_At_The_Beach, and your reports on this forum. They would scoop everyone, then!;o)
