Joe McCarthy Vindicated, Again

Ann Coulter is a talented writer as well as an attractive and popular woman, which is why she's in a position to take on an issue that many have courageously championed for decades to little avail. In her upcoming book,

Treason: Liberal Treachery from the Cold War to the War on Terrorism , Coulter states:

"The myth of 'McCarthyism' is the greatest Orwellian fraud of our times. Liberals are fanatical liars, then as now. Everything you think you know about McCarthy is a hegemonic lie."

The truth about Joe McCarthy and the story of his successful exposure of the communist conspiracy that infected our government during the FDR Administration is once again being trumpeted but this time by a cultural icon who has already sold millions of books and who can't be ignored or dismissed. Hallelujah!

Regarding the ongoing and unrelenting big-lie attack on Joe McCarthy from the left, a man who was simply doing the job he was elected to do, namely, to guard our Constitution and our way of life against a conspiracy to undermine it, Coulter comments:

"Liberals denounced McCarthy because they were afraid of getting caught, so they fought back like animals...McCarthy was not tilting at windmills. Soviet spies in the government were not a figment of right-wing imaginations. He was tilting at an authentic Communist conspiracy that had been laughed off by the Democratic Party."

It should be noted that it is certainly a protected right in this country for an individual to be a Communist. It is also a right for an individual to be a Nazi, or a Klansmen. Contrary to leftist agitprop, Joe McCarthy recognized this right, he expressed that recognition on many occasions, and he was quite careful to play by the rules in his investigation of government subversion. Joe McCarthy, contrary to leftist lies, was involved in investigating the phenomena of secret communists operating within the Federal Government, nothing more and nothing less.

During his brief tenure in the U.S.Senate, Joe McCarthy confronted and uncovered the bizarre phenomena of certain government officials, in some cases very highly placed and regarded government officials, as engaging in a concealment of their communist involvement. An analogous situation to the one that Joe McCarthy confronted would be if an al-Qaeda operative were working in the State Department or another sensitive agency of government today and keeping his affiliation secret. Joe McCarthy demonstrated the fact that Communists had no more of a right work in our government than Nazis or a Klansmen. The American people, conversely, have a right to know the political orientation of government officials who might be in a position where they could adversely influence the future of the country.

The liberal response to Joe McCarthy's revelations, then and now, was to submit him, and his reputation to a public auto da fe, one that continues to stand as an example of what the left will do to someone who dares to defy their agenda. Coulter states: "While consistently rooting against America, liberals have used a fictional event forged of their own hysteria - "McCarthyism" -- to prevent Americans from ever asking the simple question: Do liberals love their country?" Congratulations to Ann Coulter, may she have much success with this endeavor for the sake of all of us.

At a frightful sacrifice, even of his own well being and life, Joe McCarthy was nevertheless successful in fulfilling the public obligation he shouldered. His work was not in vain. In spite of a campaign of vilification, hate, and lies, Joe McCarthy successfully alerted the American public at large to the danger Communism posed. Joe McCarthy's career parallels that of Winston Churchill in that Churchill likewise tried to warn the British people about the impending danger of Nazism in the 1930's. Churchill was vilified before World War II but like Joe McCarthy, Churchill understood his times and the nature of evil. Human history can often hinge on the conscience and action of a single brave individual. We should remember with gratitude that the left failed in its attempt to silence Joe McCarthy as most Americans woke up in time to their treachery.

JBS got into trouble over Eisenhower, didn't it?

The transcripts just released show that Ike refused to let the Army testify about spying at Ft. Monmouth. Do you know why?

It would helpful if more were known about the cause of McCarthy's death.

Acute hepatitis has been listed as McCarthy's cause of death. Rarely, if ever, is this listed as the cause of death for chronic alcoholics unless he ingested some poisoned bad booze. No one ever said he died from the chronic(not acute)condition called cirrhosis or its sequelae.

The only other cause of a sudden demise is seen in an acute toxic poisoning where, usually college freshmen, ingest so much they are actually poisoned. In this case they die before hepatitis develops.

I am not sure how you knew he was an alcoholic. There has been documentation that he drank, as did many others, but where did you learn he was actually an alcoholic?

Ahhhh! ... But the times have changed! I believe this is the PERFECT time to set this account straight.

Remember ... the public has witnessed a campaign of "vilification, hate, and lies", just recently foisted upon their President ... such a correlation ... oy vey!

I have no idea why the military guy at the executive session claimed executive privilege. Ft. Monmouth was so bad, Ike closed it and Goldwater had a lab doing similar work open in Arizona--as far from City College grads as they could get.

Hope someone annotates the new transcripts. The Senate historian who worked on their release is a RAT and spun it with the same old commie rhetoric. There is a lot of interesting information in the documents.

btw...anyone wants excerpts from the transcripts, I saved some of the good parts. Send a private message if you want them. The formating isn't the best but they are readable.

I wonder what old Winnie told Joseph Stalin and FDR at Malta?

I don't think they all made it there. Yalta, in the Crimea, hosted a big conference. The Vorontsovskiy palace just south of Yalta was the British lodging, and tour guides there will point out the chair that Winnie supposedly burned with a cigar while dozing.

While there Winnie also sought out a battlefield near Sevastopol, where ninety or so years earlier the British made a fruitless yet colorful charge made famous by Tennyson. Ever mindfull of history, even while he was in the process of creating it, Churchill laid a wreath at the monument there.

FDR? Despite assuring Churchill that "I can handle Stalin", spent most of his time in Yalta asleep. Another argument for term limits.

They tried to hide it then, now they have their own website, Democrat Socialists. Some do still pretend to be centrists, but anyone who knows what communism is all about should be able to recognize them.

I always found it interesting that Joe McCarthy's counsel, prior to Roy Cohn, was Teddy's big brother, Bobby Kennedy. Bobby was determined to make a name for himself by helping McCarthy root out the communists but Cohn apparently convinced McCarthy that it would "look better" for his counsel to be a Jew. So Bobby was reluctantly forced out.

History can be full of surprises for those who care about it.
The ignorant, present-day Hollywood scumbags simply have no clue.

This is not only the perfect time to set the record straight, but to launch a new era of McCarthyism.

Bring Back the House Committee on Un-American Activities

What does the left have to fear from being asked a few questions?

Or they are the nephew or niece, son or daughter of communists and have an interest in protecting the myth that the Hollywood Ten were victims--loyal Americans standing up for the Bill of Rights.

Well ... after 2004 - we should have a great bunch of people in office - that would be perfect timing!!

Maybe that would put the Clinton mystique to bed once and for all when all the garbage about x42 and his goon starts to be really exposed!

I think it was in a book about the dangers of communism and the Council on Foreign Relations written in the 1950's by former FBI Agent Dan Smoot...."Invisible Government" but I'm not totally sure. The book is long out of print.

My copy was handed down to me by my father, who was himself a rabid anti-communist as many folks who both witnessed and suffered the ravages of the Russian revolution first hand tended to be! My dad was Russian born and a distant relative of the Czar.

This book documented that McCarthy often ran around DC with a bottle of Scotch in his battered old briefcase. Now, just because somebody has a drinking problem, I don't feel their life's work can be automatically invalidated.

House UnAmerican Committee I think that the correct name for that committee was House Committee on UnAmerican Activities. The other name sounds more like a description of the Democrat Party.

That was the official name, but they also called it the House UnAmerican Activities Committee, or H.U.A.C. (one word) for short.

My dad was Russian born and a distant relative of the Czar.

Anticommunists such as your father had trouble keeping their positions in government or the Army. From Volume 3 of the McCarthy executive sessions made public this year:

TESTIMONY OF IGOR BOGOLEPOV

Mr. Bogolepov . . .I went to the Red Army; then came back to the foreign office in the League of Nations desk; then I participated in the Civil War in Spain as interpreter between the Soviet generals and the Republican general staff. I was arrested in Spain by the secret police and shipped back to the Soviet Union for trial. Then I was released in 1938 and restored in the Foreign Service Office in the Soviet Union.

I have participated in many international talks which took place between the Soviet Union and Western nations, including the Soviet-Nazi Pact and President Roosevelt's emissary, Harry Hopkins, in the summer of 1941.

During the war I was in the Baltic countries and on the Leningrad Front and come over to the German lines. I deserted from the Soviet army being in rank of colonel of general staff.

I tried for sometime to convince the Germans to take less stupid political line towards the Russian people and Russian soldiers. Because of my stubbornness and perhaps too hot a defense of the Russian national interests as opposed to Communists and Nazis they put me in Gestapo jail for a while to cool me down.

After release I went to a German farm in Bavaria and was there until the American army came in 1945.

Under American occupation I was obliged first to hide myself, for a couple of years, due to the western policies of extradition to the Soviet police of all Russian people, especially like me who were on the Soviet wanted persons list.

In 1947 I came out and explained to the U.S. Army intelligence officers in Germany who I was actually and my political standpoint and I started my work in the United States Army.

First I worked as instructor in the European Command Intelligence School in Oberammergau and next year I was transferred to the General Staff School in Regensburg, Germany, as an instructor on the matters of the Soviet policies, party organization and similar matters. In 1952 I was brought by the army to this country to testify before the Senate Internal Security Committee against Owen Lattimore. (Note:Lattimore was a Soviet agent)

After my testimony I was dismissed from the army, unfortunately, and I am living now in this country waiting for my bill to be decided.

The Chairman. A bill introduced by Senator Karl Mundt granting Mr. Bogolepov full citizenship.

Mr. Bogolepov. I had forgotten to mention that at the end of the thirties I was able to join the Communist party of the Soviet Union. I did it, as many other Russian anti-Communists do, in order to get in a higher position and to influence in that way the overthrow of the Communist regime in my country. That is all.

Mr. Cohn. Were you dismissed from service with the army after you testified before the McCarran committee?

Mr. Bogolepov. I think in connection with this. If you need more information about it, when I came here the assistant chief of G-2, General Bolling was much eager to get me for his service. He introduced me in the Pentagon to another general and they discussed my further employment as a lecturer in various U.S. military colleges. Two days after the talks were stopped and I got my discharge papers from the army.

The Chairman. What are you working at now?

Mr. Bogolepov. I am not very much happy with work, for evidently my reputation of a radical Russian anti-Communist is speaking against me. Neither State Department or Pentagon wanted to have anything with me. I am working merely on an informal basis. I have here some former students of mine. I examine for them various aspects of psychological warfare; also I am writing for newspapers from time to time, etc., etc.

The Chairman. In the statement I made in the record originally, I understood you objected to testifying because you are now working for the army. I gather you don't; that you lost your job.

Mr. Bogolepov. That is right. The Chairman. Mr. Secretary, may I ask if you could check that.

Secretary Stevens. You bet your life.

The Chairman. We would not like Mr. Bogolepov's name used publicly.

Mr. Bogolepov, the secretary of the army will check into your discharge after you testified before the McCarran committee. It seems on the face to be completely unreasonable that you worked for the army until you were subpoenaed before a United States Senate committee and then were promptly fired. The secretary will check into that.

I see. I really don't want to be a nitpicker and I hope you understand what I am saying. All drinkers are not alcoholics.

It is interesting to note that several reminiscences of the Washington Post grand dame Katherine Graham when she died recalled dinner parties where she had many, too many drinks and would launch into somewhat incoherent tirades against Nixon. I have never read any first hand accounts of McCarthy rip roaring to this extent.

Here we see that McCarthy was actually trying to protect people from persecution by soviet agents and their US fellow travelers.

There were others who testified that asked McCarthy to protect them from the commies in this country.
