May God protect little Leanna, and bring her home safe from harm.

You're right at that! My uncle is 75 now; but back when he was about 8, he was abducted briefly. He was found safe, and the person got away. But it could've been worse! And it was a small 'farm town', too! It was lucky for them that their community was real close, and most everyone knew everyone else. Still, there were drifters and transients who came in and left on the trains. And it was one of them that did it! Although, many of them were harmless and nice, and the children befriended them.

Their mom (grandma)ran a hotel and cafe, small store, with gas station. And my step-grandpa was deputy sheriff! But even if he hadn't been; a lot of people in the community would've still turned out to help find a little child who was snatched! And I believe in many places, they still do!

But as you say, if it could happen 66-70 years ago; and in a 'small town', it could still happen in a 'small town'!

Yup! Glad to hear your uncle was safe. My dad was snatched out of my grandma's arms when he was a baby -- but that was in NYC. Fortunately, people on the streets heard her cries and stopped the man. Before 9/11, I would have wondered if today's New Yorkers would respond to a call for help on the street.....

You're probably right. It is the same reason they play Santa, become teachers, coaches and clergy. (I'm a devout Catholic, so don't anyone take that as a shot. My point is that pervs seek out positions of trust.)

Thanks. I don't mean to be judgemental of other parents, but some of these parents let their kids run all over the neighborhood even past 9 o'clock at night. Granted, it stays light up here past nine in the summers, but still! And, yes, I did run all over the neighborhood as a kid and did stay out past dark. Our parents were more lax about things like that, but times have changed.

I've worked with his mother Patty on missing children issues. Jacob was never found :-(

Oh, gosh. I don't know why, but I think of Jacob often. It's scary. This is the first I've heard of Leanna. Prayers for her and all the other missing children.

I see it hasn't been mentioned, but the mom has two other children who do not live with her. One lives with the grandparents, I believe, and one lives with someone else. The dad also has another child who does not live with him. I don't understand why they would have another child, when they are not taking care of the first three. I read this in a St. Paul paper.

There has been no Amber Alert as there is no direct evidence of abduction.

Yeah, they just let a five-year-old girl walk down the block unattended, and when she just goes *POOF!* there is no evidence she was abducted.

As much as I hate to say it, this level of stupidity has its own rewards.

I have read elsewhere that the parents didn't contact the authorities for two days!!! Can anyone else confirm this?

The little girl left for her friend's at 4:30, her mom started looking for her 45 minutes later, they called police a little before 9:00 pm.

Thanks. That sounds more like it. I can't remember where I read that 48 hours stuff. Maybe it was referring to when the Amber Alert was issued...
