Parade Treatment Irks Gay Groups
Activists Preparing To Clash With Christian Coalition
POSTED: 8:28 p.m. HST June 27, 2003
UPDATED: 8:37 a.m. HST June 28, 2003
HONOLULU, Hawaii -- The American Civil Liberties Union of Hawaii is suing Honolulu city and county officials for excluding gay groups from a parade next week.
The ACLU filed suit Friday in U.S. District Court.
According to the complaint, the city and the Hawaii Christian Coalition promoted the July 5 "Family Day Parade" as co-sponsors.
But after gay groups repeatedly tried to join, the suit says the organizers claimed the event was privately sponsored only by the Christian Coalition.
Gay groups say over the years they have had to fight to put on their own gay pride parade and they can't understand why the city has pumped taxpayer money into promoting the Christian Coalition event.
"The city is jumping though hoops to help them with the parade," said gay rights advocate Ken Miller. "What kind of equality is that?"
City spokeswoman Carol Costa says the event is not organized by city and county officials and the rules are up to the Christian Coalition.
Hawaii Christian Coalition representative Garrett Hashimoto says as the main sponsor of the family parade, the Coalition can legally exclude who it wants.
"We don't want (a) political or personal organization's agenda in this parade," he said.
Hashimoto says it would be inappropriate for a group promoting a gay lifeystyle to march in what is essentially a children's parade.
A hearing in federal court is set for July 1 at 3 p.m.

It's a family parade for kids. It's not a chance to promote your lifestyle or recruit little tykes into your perversion.
Is that so hard to understand?

Here's a little more from the
Honolulu Advertiser.
Group is denied part in parade
The Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays group twice has been denied a spot in the city's Family Day "Kid's Parade," an event sponsored by the Hawaii Christian Coalition, said Michael Golojuch Jr., project coordinator of PFLAG.
Family Day is a daylong series of events being held July 5 in Waikiki.
Malcolm Tom, the city's deputy managing director, defended the decision by the parade sponsor.
"It's a simple issue: The parade is a private parade, sponsored by the Hawaii Christian Coalition," Tom said. "As sponsor, they have right to select and choose who they want to have in the parade."

It's not a chance to promote your lifestyle or recruit little tykes into your perversion. Gays by definition do not reproduce. They only way to increase their numbers is to persuade otherwise normal young men and teenagers that the awkwardness that they feel around the opposite sex is because they really are homosexual deep down and they need to try out the homosexual lifestyle instead. Who hasn't felt isolated and rejected as a teeneager? It's a normal part of growing up. Gays exploit this teenage vulnerability to the hilt. Their agenda is the polar opposite of that of the Christian family parade.

I wonder how a participant in one of the Gay Parades would be met if they marched on the premise of morality, the Biblical stance against homosexuality and the promotion of the family unit? I would bet the Fudgepackers and clambumpers would go ballistic and be very vocal against the participants.

If the gays want to have their own parade they should go and do it. Why do they want to push their lifestyle on others.
To them I say, have your life, enjoy it. I won't bother you. But leave me alone to enjoy mine and stop bothering me. I don't want you preaching to me.

Let's make a political deal. Gays can have unrestricted access to any and all parades, if they allow heterosexuals to have the exclusive right to marry.
Every weekend we can stage huge, extravagant, televised parades and exclude homosexuals - they'll cave within a month.

Gays by definition do not reproduce.
They do reproduce and adopt. There was a book in the seventies or early eighties called "Shock-proof Sidney Skate" that detailed some of the problems of having homosexual and lesbian parents.

I think you're missing the real problem here. The problem is that politicians devote public (taxpayer) funds to various groups to pander their votes. Once you start with that there is no end as every group will demand its part or its event.
You want a parade? Good for you. You organize it and you show that you have funded all aspects including the policing and the cleanup. Then you get a permit. Otherwise you can have your parade on private property.

From another thread (on homosexual parents with young kids at Gay Pride parades):
Gay Pride Events Becoming Family Affairs
They asked for a kid-friendly spot in the lineup, hoping to avoid a repeat of last year - when their stroller brigade was awkwardly sandwiched between two groups of leather-bound sadomasochists. "I don't want my kids to see that, and I don't think either side was too pleased," said Boulliane, 35.
Now they know how we feel (whether it be at Disneyworld, on tv, or city streets).
Funny how all of this behavior is a private act that occurs in a bedroom. Then why flaunt it out in the streets? Doesn't seem very private to me.

They just don't get that there are still decent people who don't want their children exposed to a bunch of half-naked faggots parading around flaunting their deviance. Personally, I think allowing the faggot parades in a public place in broad daylight is way over the line. Next thing you know, they'll want to make it mandatory and public schools will be sponsoring "field trops" to faggot days parades.

The one "good" thing to say about all this is that since "Gay Pride Month" is in June, few school students will be subjected to devoted classwork for "Gay Pride Month".
Of course, the celebrations kick off with Gay Day at a number of youth oriented theme parks in June (right when the kids get out of school and some families go on vacation).

I think I see a problem. The parade organizers should have been a little more careful in the wording on their flier.
Join the Parade
"The day will begin at 10 a.m. with a parade designed to delight children of all ages. It will include bands, floats, a string of City vehicles and marching groups representing a CROSS SECTION OF THE COMMUNITY. EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO JOIN." (caps added)
Who'd thought that the gays would want to invite themselves.

Homosexuals discriminate too:
Straight 'Pride Idol' ruffles some gays' feathers
"I think most people get the message that Pride is about inclusion," Witherington said. "We are asking the rest of the world for respect, and if we can't do it on our doorstep, what chance to do we have of persuading the rest of the world?"
I thought that they were arguing that this is a private matter and that no one knows what goes on behind closed doors. Then why shout it in the streets? Why have a parade route lined with trashcans advertising a sex lube and the slogan "Get Lubed!"?

Homosexuality:
Homosexuality is deviant sexual behavior and a mental illness.
Homosexuals: 1) subject their body parts to uses nature did not intend, such activities often presenting immediate risk to the participants; 2) are prone to greater suicide, depression and other mental disorders and deficiencies than the heterosexual population at large; 3) are prone to far greater sexually transmitted diseases, including AIDS, than the (normal) heterosexual population; 4) molest young people (pedophilia) at a far greater rate than heterosexuals; 5) engage in degrading sexual promiscuity, oftentimes engaging in risky sex with many partners during the same event; 6) are engaged in aggressive and widespread efforts to indoctrinate our children by introducing the homosexual lifestyle using public schools as the primary indoctrination vehicle and likewise, through the movie/music/TV industry, with the dual goals of gaining school-age acceptance of homosexuality and encouraging sexual activity among children, especially same-sex experimentation; 7) view most everything through a mindset heavily biased in favor of the homosexual lifestyle and culture, which renders them mostly useless when asked to opine on matters that normal heterosexuals better resolve.
The mental deficiencies described herein applying to homosexuals shall not be confused with the deficiencies associated with the left wing democrat/socialist/marxist/ feminist/environmentalist minds, etc., which have their own distinct set of mental disorders.
This doesn't even touch on what the Bible has to say about homosexuality.

Two of my sons, when they were in their late teens/early twenties, went on shalichut (that is the Jewish version of outreach ministry) in San Francisco and Miami South Beach. Although not particularly prejudiced to begin with, they both returned home confirmed "homophobes" although my son claims that is not the accurate word. "I'm not afraid of gays," he said, "but they had better be very afraid of me!"

Update: A local judge ruled against the gay activists late on Thursday; too late for an appeal before the event on Saturday morning. The queers turned out in force at the parade to protest and got their mugs on local TV calling everyone homophobes and bigots. The usual stuff.
"Look at ME! Look at ME! Look at ME!" Like a bunch of three year olds begging for attention.
They had their own "Gay Pride" parade the weekend before but that wasn't enough for them. They had to barge in on the Christian Coalition's Family Day parade too.
What a bunch of jerks.
