Ensuring the "AW" & "Hi-Cap mag". Bans DIE!

Ensuring the Bans DIE!

Need help listing ALL the rational reasons the bans are unconstitutional or illegal.

I would think that one of the professional RKBA lobby groups would have already done this, but if they have I have not seen the list.

Just a couple I have not seen discussed are;

1. Fails the "reasonable man" test. Even L.E. has a hard time understanding all the details of these bans. Civilians, particularly those who were too young to catch the details when they were enacted, have little chance of complete understanding without a comprehensive course of study. I often find myself trying to explain why certain magazines or accessories are illegal, the reaction I get is disbelief, they either think the law is nuts or I am just trying to cheat them on the price of their gun.

Heated discussions still occur on every forum of RKI's, with several people taking different sides on exactly what each point of the laws mean. This nearly nine years after enactment!

2. Creates "Super citizens". Retired L.E. is treated differently than civilians. Look at the situation with L.E. marked mags, civilians cannot have them, but under some circumstances retired L.E. apparently can keep them. Some L.E. claim the same privilege with "AW's" they bought while still with the department.

Several other points of contention with these alleged "Laws" have occurred to me over time, now I think it is time to start listing them for use in letters to congress.

I know the people here can add to my meager start, so how about it?

Just figure an assualt rifle made with foreign parts is illegal while one made with US made parts is not.

Finestein logic in action.

1. Childish feel good legislation. The ban didn't outlaw a single weapon. It mearly stopped the manufacturing of those firearms.
2. All gun control laws are aimed at the law abiding citizen and not one stops crime.
3. The anti-gun crowd couldn't pass the law without lying to the average citizen which firearms were to be banned. The anti-gun crowd shouldn't be rewarded by continuing the ban.
4. The sunset was timed to end just before the 2004 elections. If the anti-gun politicians want to keep their offices, they should sunset the ban.
5. Any and all gun control is unconstitutional.

Whether or not the Assault Weapons Ban is sunsetted or not, the issue will destroy the democratic party.

Rational Basis Analysis of "Assault Weapon" Prohibition - a long, scholarly article that blows away every argument that gun grabbers use. Written by former gun grabber, and now gun rights activist, David Kopel.

Logic has nothing to do with this.

The only thing that makes any difference to the politicians is how many votes we can deliver. Unfortunately, far too many gunowners vote for gun-grabbers because their union or church or somewhere else tells them to.

We, as gunowners, must vote for the 2nd Amendment the same way blacks vote Demoncratic -- 90% plus. That is the ONLY way will will win.

It didn't even do that. You can still buy a brand new Vepr or Saiga. They are high capacity weapons make in Russia and come in a variety ranging from .223 to 12 ga. The Saigas are about $200.

I must disagree to some extent.

Logic has nothing to do with the liberal media portrayal of our RKBA and the Bans.
But logic does have some affect on members of congress, not all of them, but enough to be important.
Remember, the bans passed by only the slimmest of margins, after being reintroduced several times.

As for voting, RKBA supporters are one of the most heavily registered and active voting cliqes in the country.

Slick Willie learned this to his regret, Al Bore learned it in 2000, G.W. Bush needs to remember it!

There is a lot of truth in that statement.

"Whether or not the Assault Weapons Ban is sunsetted or not, the issue will destroy the democratic party."

Several conservative democraps have introduced pro gun bills this secession. Me thinks that most democraps are going to run from this issue like roaches from a can of Raid.

I thought the Saiga's had to use a modified AK-47 clip. I'm probably wrong though. Oh wait, yes I am. I'm thinking of the WASR I believe.

I know the SAR's do take a hi-cap and are quite numerous as of late.though.

"Just figure an assualt rifle made with foreign parts is illegal while one made with US made parts is not."

You are right. There is no material difference. Sooooo....the logical explanation is that the foreign ban was just to get the nose of the camel into the tent. It set a precident. They will go for the domestic military style semi-autos when they can.

Sounds like Bush wouldn't object either...unless it was bad for the economy of course.

Do a little research into the Minnesota CCW debates.

Or any gun control debate for that matter and notice which party openly supports gun control and which party opposes it.
