(You will need a browser with Japanese font capability, and ability to comprehend written Japanese)

As a FReeper Researcher, I have just come across a JAPANESE organization, based on an overseas JAPANESE website, in JAPANESE, that is encouraging foreigners to contribute money to and assist the "Campaign for American President Dennis Kucinich".

The URL of the activity was located at:

http://www.peace2001.org/

The organization is called "Global Peace Campaign" located in Japan. It is part of an umbrella of socialist and communist organizations opposing US efforts in Iraq, it supports North Korea, and is aligned with the usual communist movements.

The website has the invitation clearly written in Japanese, on the upper left side of the page, along with a link to the Kucinich campaign in the US, and a photo of the candidate. The organizers specifically solicit 500 Kucinich campaign contributors in Japan as a goal. Below are the comments in Japanese, translated by myself.

More material from Ms Kikuchi ( in English)

My 3 Days With Dennis Kucinich
Yumi Kikuchi

On May 27, I took a flight UA838 to San Francisco from Narita
International Airport to meet with Herman Gyr and Suzanne Keehn, who are
in the Dennis Kucinich for President Campaign. When I arrived, wondering
how we'd find each other, there they were with the poster of Kucinich
with my name: Yumi Kikuchi. I noticed our family names are similar:
Kucinich and Kikuchi! So, we met for the first time after so many
e-mail communications.

>From there we drove to Stockton, where Rep. Kucinich was going to meet
Latino leaders at Latino Mental Health Center. We waited for him
outside of the building, and there he came. When he found me, he knew
who I was and that I came all the way from Japan to meet him. Herman
told him about my campaign for Dennis Kucinich from Japan.

I flew to see if he is real. I know many people are good at saying or
writing wonderful things, especially the politicians, but sometimes they
don't quite act on what they say. So, I had to see if he is real, and
if he really means what he says, with my eyes and with all my senses.

At Latino Mental Health Center, we met a women who was alcoholic at the
age of 13 and has had misfortune since, going through 37 different
treatments, but finally became clean after she found Latino Mental
Health Center and its support. Dennis spoke of his own brother, who is
schizophrenic, and he sees the importance of community support and
including everyone in the society, not excluding anyone. He advocates
universal health care and free education from pre-school to college if
one wishes. He knows that America has resources to do so only if there
is a will. Dennis can lead the US away from the war and terror and
redirect her to peace, sustainability, freedom and prosperity for all,
not only for the privileged.

After we left Latino Mental Health Center, I spoke with him as we drove
together from Stockton to Fresno. I showed him the photos by Takashi
Morizumi of Iraqi babies and children suffering from leukemia, cancer
and deformity from exposure to Depleted Uranium. When he saw the
deformed baby, he felt it so deeply and asked me what he could do.
I said this has to be known to all Americans and seen by all Americans,
but we had a difficult time finding a place to exhibit. He promised me
he will help finding a place for a photo exhibition in Washington D.C.
and I promised him I could bring Takashi Morizumi if that happens.
I'll fly again, too.

Then we talked about the Japanese government following the US government
and heading in a dangerous direction. I gave him a book of the Japanese
Peace Constitution and he read article 9, which forever renounces war as
a sovereign right of the nation and the threat or use of force as a
means of settling international disputes. I told him our constitution
is dying because of the Emergency Law which is just about to pass. He
asked me again what he could do and promised me to write a letter to
Prime Minister Koizumi to deeply reconsider the direction he is taking.

We had so much to talk about, and he said "Tell me about yourself". So,
I told him I am a mother of 4, wanting a peaceful and sustainable planet
for all the children. I started Global Peace Campaign right after 9-11,
and have been raising money to place peace ads for the US major papers
such as NY Times, LA Times and Washington Post. And I finally said, "To
achieve my goal, the most important work I should do right now is to
help you to become the US President."

I saw him with various people and how good and compassionate he is with
anyone, especially the less fortunate. He speaks the truth from the
heart and inspires everyone. He is the America I used to know and he
is going to make our common dream come true if enough of us support him,
instead of giving up or being cynical. I am aware that many people are
skeptical of his candidacy, but once you meet and hear him personally,
you feel his vision and integrity in the heart and body. He is real.
He means what he says and he has been a politician for a long time; long
enough to know how to make it happen politically. He is honest,
intelligent, compassionate, balanced, understands both domestic and
international issues, and knows what to do about them.

He is unique because he understands what is the real cause of the all
the problems, including terrorism, and he says it and he acts on it. I
told him how courageous he is to speak out the truth in Congress and to
the public, but he told me it is not courage, it is who he is, and
there is no other way. Look up http://www.kucinich.us/ and get
involved.

It is a joy to make our common dream come true. Let's work together to
make this planet filled with love and peace, not fear and war.

love and peace,
Yumi Kikuchi, mother, author, flutist

Nice catch. You know, if they hadn't said such things as "Let's make Kuchinic the next American President", they could have easily gotten away with simply advertising his book for sale overseas.

But socialists have always been filled with greedy idiots, an irony that continues when one considers that to help Kucinich, the Communists in question have to engage in that decidedly Capitalistic activity of purchasing a product.

Thanks.

It is really spreading now, it would seem from this thread. Another Maria Hsia moment or Bhuddist temple moment, perhaps?

I would say we need to keep it up, get the FEC and FBI involved. One way to REALLY explode this thing HUGE is to 'reverse engineer'. That is, you see, the Japanese media over on the other side of the glob, most of whom are sleeping as I write, are SO SUPER SENSITIVE to any talk or news of Americans or other foreigners picking up on something of theirs internally, such as this potential scandal, that they then go ballistic and Japanese reporters and paparazzi will all be climbing over themselves and destroying the bushes over at the Kikuchi's house in Kamogawa, Chiba to find out what is up. Reading her comments, she is connected to Fuji TV, TBS, etc. all the big ones. Tomorrow some one could just 'drop this thing in the Japanese press', tabloids or TV media ("American(s) discover potential scandal involving Japanese regarding US presidential campaign money") and it will just implode all over the place. If the US media does not run with this in the next three hours or conservative talk show hosts don't pick it up, I say 'release it on the other side of the pond' (Japan) and get ready for the tsunami.

I just got off the phone with the FEC Office of the Inspector General. They took all the information, including the URLs for "peace2001.org" and this thread, but said they will be forwarding it on to the FEC's General Counsel office, because they're the ones that investigate such things. (The Inspector General only deals internal audits of the FEC itself.)

I did point out to them that I don't know if this is directly the work of Kucinich's campaign or if it's just a bunch of people in Japan trying to secretly funnel cash without Kucinich's knowledge. But either way, it smells, and the FEC's lawyers are about to start poking around.

If you type her name and Kucinich's name into Google, you will get two pages of stuff that they have cooperated on. They have been in political bed for months, since 1999 as far as I can tell.

From: "David Crockett Williams" Date: Fri Jun 20, 2003 4:02 pm Subject: Japan, Kucinich in Spotlight Suddenly, Yumi Kikuchi offers Kucinich Japanese Peace Constitution, explains #9 by USA ADVERTISEMENT Tokyo(Chunichi) Shinbun (newspaper) Special Report The US Presidential Election A Vote From Japan Kucinich in the Spot Light Suddenly By Yukimi Hayakawa (translated by Yumi Kikuchi) Tokyo - Jun 19, 2003 On June 17, President Bush launched his campaign for the 2004 Presidential Election. On the contrary, in Japan and some European Countries, there is a movement to support one of the Democratic Candidates. That is Congressman Dennis Kucinich, 56, who propose the establishment of Department of Peace. He is not very known in the USA, but why do they support Dennis Kucinich from overseas? What is the reason? "Do you really think Japanese politics is decided here in Tokyo, Nagatacho? I do not think so. It is decided in Washington DC. Especially the defense policy is perfectly lead and guided by the USA. If we continue to follow the current US government, which is lead by those neo-conservatists, Japan willbe unpleasant country. There is peaceful power in the USA and we should work with them instead", explained Yumi Kikuchi (41), a freelance journalist who had placed peace/anti-war ads in major US newspapers such as New York Times, for the reason why she started the campaign for Dennis Kucinich in Japan. BORN POOR AND BECAME THE YOUNGEST MAYOR She promote Dennis Kucinich at the website of Global Peace Campaign: http://www.peace2001.org asking people to let American friends know about Kucinich. Kucinich is from Cleveland, Ohio, born and raised in rather poor family of 7 children. Just because of number of the children in the family, land lord gave them a hard time and they had to move so many times. By the time he was 17, he had to move for 21 times and they had to live like homeless people, in cars, twice. That is very rare experience. At the age of 23, he became a member of council of the city of Cleveland, and then became the mayor of Cleveland, the youngest mayor ever elected in the US at the age of 31. He now serves 4th term as a member of the US Congress. Out of 9 candidates, he is the most unexpected candidate. What made him decide running for the President was the speech he gave a year ago called A Prayer for America. In this speech, he said, "Let us pray that we have the courage to replace the images of death which haunt us, the layers of images of September 11th, faded into images of patriotism, spliced into images of military mobilization...with the work of human relations, reaching out to people, helping our owncitizens here at home, lifting the plight of the poor everywhere" He proposed the establishment of Department of Peace instead of the use of force. One of the audience posted this speech in the internet, and it was passed around and around. Soon he received over 23,000 e-mails asking him to run for the President. Ms. Kikuchi is one of many who read the speech and moved by it. "I thought it was amazing some politician could say this. It is different when a politician says something like this publicly from when I say my dream publicly. Anyone wants peace, but it is not that easy to realize and practice peace. I wrote in my internet news: I wish he were the president of the USA!" And this February, she learned that Kucinich was really running for the President. She decided to join the campaign. ELECTABILITY SEEMS LOW Many say that Kucinich has no chance of winning. He reject corporate donation and relying on personal donations only, of which maximum amount is $2,000. He is not rich, and Bush already has $200 million. In the USA, you have to buy TV airtime as they do not have free TV broadcast of political opinion like Japan does. So, you have to have enough money to let your message heard. Unless you buy a lot of time of TV using enough money for PR, you won't win generally" "But Kucinich is the most popular candidate in the internet poll. There are so many new people who were not politically active before, now joining Kucinich campaign. Those who are in peace or environmental movement are also for Dennis. Those Cultural Creatives are for Dennis. There are 50 million Cultural Creatives." Cultural Creatives are rather interested in health or environmental issues, middle class, maybe more for venture business than big corporation. They tend not to be politically active. "They were not involved with politics before as they didn't have anyone they wanted to support, but they think to make Bush the next President again is not such a good idea. If they really move and vote, Dennis Kucinich can win." There are similar movement in Italy and England. Ms. Kikuchi spent 3 days with Dennis Kucinich from May 27. In the speech, he appealed, "Would you like that America is hated, lonely and scared by terrorism?" "I met supporters who are consultants, think tank researchers and artists. They were excited saying Dennis really represent them. Many of them have been disappointed with the US politics before and they didn't support anyone or any party, but now they are awaken by Dennis. It is such a fun to be with those people" "Unlike other campaign, Kucinch campaign gathers more people than any other candidate using internet and word-of-mouth. There are some from NGOs and sometimes they ask hard question, but Dennis seems to know all the issues very well. He answers any question very wisely and honestly. I was very impressed so many times as he has his own opinion on any issues asked. I noticed he always stands by the weaker" GIVING JAPANESE PEACE CONSTITUTION, TELLING "THE US SHOULD ADOPT THIS" Ms. Kukuchi had an hour to talk with Kucinch in the car. She gave the book of Japanese Peace Constitution and explained the article 9. She told Kucinich that this was given from the USA, so please practice this when you become the President of the USA. She intend to publish a book of Dennis Kucinich by the end of this year. It is illegal for foreigners to donate money for the US Election. So, she intend to pay him the book royalty as a plain business deal, which is not illegal and it can help him financially and make him famous at the same time. In autumn, she intends to organize a tour to the USA to meet "real Dennis Kucinich". "The primary will be over by the end of next March. But I mean to continue working with Dennis Kucinich and his team to establish Ministry of Peace here in Japan and Department of Peace in the USA." Democratic Party has 9 candidates as former vice president Gore didn't run. Some say the prospective winner is Hillary Clinton, but she has not come forward yet. Republican's candidate is President Bush and he intends to win again. By next March, both parties will chose one candidate, and the election will be in November 2004.
