So Cal Freepers:  AFTER BBQ REPORT

Sunday, August 11 the So. Cal freepers (and special out of town visitors) had a BBQ/Pool Party in honor of Jim Robinson. Jim was in the LA area to attend the NFRA convention and present the Reagan Award to this years winner. Bob J and I attended the luncheon at the Reagan Library and Bob presented this year's winner with the award, the Young Americas Foundation. Saundra Duffy was also there with her husband (his FR name escapes me).


Saturday we prepared for the party.


On Sunday, Freepers started arriving here ready for some sun, fun, Gray Davis bashing, and swimming.  A sun-burned DoughtyOne, managed the grill and helped feed around 60 people. I will let the attendees come in and give their reports but I had a great time!  Thanks to everyone who brought food, wine, beer, chips, (we have more food here than when we started!)

It was a most excellent party - lots of intense discussions going everywhere!!! I thought to myself - boy, these people are really crazy - and then I realized I'm one of them! Talk about a bunch of passionate, informed people. Lots of laughing going on as well.

I also observed that there was intensive blender activity going on over at the marguarita table with an occassional background duet by kayeyedoubledee and val e. girl of the Rush Limbaugh/Hillary "My mind's a blender - I don't remember" song. I haven't been able to get that song out of my head since 10:00 yesterday morning.


DoughtyOne did a great job with the barbeque - in spite of all the "distractions" around the pool. Bob J. and Diotima were wonderful hosts and made sure all were welcomed, introduced, watered and fed. It was also very nice to be able to met Jim Robinson, his wife and his son, Chris. It was a very nice party, a beautiful day and a bunch of beautiful people.
