I have no opinion about Filipino women, but I would be very careful about women from the former Soviet Union. The problem is not so much with women as with 70 years of Communism, which stamped out religion and made people (both men and women) habitually dishonest (over there, it was necessary to cheat on a daily basis in order to survive.)
And still hasn't the faintest clue why that would be. I'd put money on it!
It is a challenge. I'm going to Costa Rica this coming month to scout living down there - along with the hordes of other Americans heading down there in droves. Last time I went in April I ran into quite a few guys looking at real estate - which one might expect - is soaring. I think that guys are figuring out that the American environment itself is poisoned - so bringing ANY woman back stateside - will most likely result in the typical attitudes we are all fed up with here.
I have watched several associates with Russian wives have mixed success with their marriages - and I have been to the Ukraine and dated a number of women. They were beautiful, smart, feminine - and looking to get the hell out of there. That exit option you represent attracts good women and bad. But to be fair, the guys I know that were left at the stroke of midnight at the two year point (Green Card waiting period) were complete a-holes. One the other hand, another guy I know has a very good women from Siberia who stayed with him - and keeps his no-account butt in line.
And finally, I think my nephew (who spent 2 years in Kiev with the State department) is set to marry a beautiful little girl from Turkmenistan. (I think she's great - but am a little concerned about some of the attitudes she's picking up living here as a foreign student). Time will tell, but she has a basic understanding of how good it is to be a woman here - and how not to abuse it.
Bottom line is - unless you meet someone with strong enough inertial guidance (lil' aerospace jive), locked on to the culturally-imbued femininity that attracted you - keeping the Sisterhood at bay will be like keeping mosquitos away from the marriage bed, without a net.
Thanks in advance,
Chookter
However, I would like to see a FR thread showing the other side - the female perspective. I've read hundreds and hundreds of marriage horror stories on FR by men. I would be interested in hearing some stories from the gals.
I suspect the proposed thread would have about 3 or 4 legit examples of abusive husbands. The rest would be an endless parade of "I-divorced-and-destroyed-his-life-for-the-next-10-years-and-shattered-his-dreams-because-he-ate-too-much-popcorn. I'm-a-princess-and-princesses-don't-eat-popcorn-so-that-ba*tard-deserved-everything-he-got" or some such silly nonsense.
Well girls, how about the thread?

As my Father once said, "Who would want to marry a woman that has so little self respect, that she would be seen in public dining with a man who has on a baseball cap?"
Men don't marry because, as my dear departed Daddy used to say, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?" If women exercised the power they have, and quit giving themselves away, they might find men more willing to 'commit'.
Because women are not cows and sex is not milk.
The finest thing in life is to live and work with someone who is your friend, companion, and helper, as well your lover; to be needed and wanted by her.
What kind of slap is that at Mormons, Catholics and Lutherans? A simple Google search on the terms "divorce rates evangelical Christians" and "divorce rates mormon temple" will give you real figures.
A report featured on Adherents.com's web site shows that the divorce rate in the Bible belt, "the area where evangelical Christianity is particularly strong is roughly 50 percent above the national average."
The article goes on to say that this high rate is largely attributed to low income and marrying at a younger age than average. Regardless of religious affiliation, divorce rates rise where large numbers of people fall below the poverty line. (See the full article at http://www.adherents.com/misc/divorce.html)
In the case of Mormons, most studies cite divorce rates in Utah, which is about 70% Mormon. Utah still has the lowest divorce rates of any state in the intermountain west.
Among Mormons, there are two types of marriage that have to be considered. A "civil" marriage, one solemnized outside the temple and "sealings" (also known as eternal marriage) which is performed inside the temple.
Although Mormon leaders always express alarm at any "sealings" which end in divorce, the divorce rate for temple marriages is only around 6%. The personal committment and preparation necessary to enter the Mormon temples provides a good foundation from which to build a marriage relationship. (See the article at http://www.divorcereform.org/mel/rmormon.html)
Compare and contrast:
Your assertion that "if there is any hope for the future of the traditional family, it will be among the most conservative evangelicals" is bigoted, prejudicial, and unsupported by the facts.
Greg West
Dems changed the divorce laws at the behest of hectoring, feminist harpies.
Marriage is a bad deal for guy. Were I to get married, my wife could, at any moment and for any reason divorce me and confiscates half of my assets. Not to mention she would have a claim on my future earnings.
Like a bad chain reaction car accident, I stare in horror at the sight of yet another 400+ post thread bashing women, bashing marriage, extolling the virtues of fantasy women from ~somewhere~ else who will have the trainability and forgiveness of a Golden Retriever....
I can't turn away, but don't have the stomach to comment, when in the carnage, I spot a friendly face :~D
At the end of my post, I cited parallel developments among traditionalist Catholics and observant Jews to those in the most conservative segment of evangelical Christians. If I left Mormons (or for that matter, Seventh Day Adventists or Jehovah's Witnesses) and parallel developments in the LDS Church (and the other organizations) out, it was only due to oversight, not malice.
