WASHINGTON, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Nutritionists are urging the top 10 U.S. hospitals to ban the Atkins diet, reports said Friday.

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine announced Friday in Washington it hopes the hospitals will emulate England's Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, which is eliminating the controversial diet from its menus, fearing a link to kidney damage.

You are very kind to share your abilities with us, Carlo. Thank you.

I have been doing the low carb deal since June 1 and have lost 21 lbs. - but I put 4 back on week before last while on vacation and away from my routine. Net 17 lbs. gone.

8 lbs. to go before I hit my goal of 180. These recipes will help. Thanks again!

Thanks for the great recipes! My wife and I will try these out. My wife and I have been on Atkins for approx. two months. She has lost 26 lbs. so far. I had lost over 15 lbs as of two weeks ago. I will be curious to see what my blood work will look like...

For those who haven't started your low carb diet yet, and before you throw away your Italian bread.. try this bad boy..
Bruschetta
1) Slice bread into ½ inch thick slices.
2) Toast in a 400 degree oven, 4 to 5 minutes per side. Rub toasts with the garlic. ( you can mince the garlic, and mix it with the tomatoes)
3) Chop tomatoes and basil and season with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Serve warm or at room temperature.

Serves 4 to 6

*Italian bread (large slice) 15g

I told Bob this morning, and I will tell you: there is a HUGE windfall of money for the person who starts distributing Atkins/locarb frozen meals. You heard it here first.

love,

With regard to a sense of euphoria and energy, I concur with you experience. One afternoon I had a double meat cheeseburger without the bun. I received a rather snotty look from an overwieght older man who commented on my "poor" selection. I mentioned the article from the NEJM. "I disagree with it," he replied. "Disagree with it," I rejoined, "how do you disagree with with a peer- reviewed, masked, comparitive trial? This is considered the pinnacle of clinical evidence. You can't simply 'disagree with it,' you must REFUTE it with EQUALLY VALID clinical evidence to the contrary." I'm not sure I changed his mind.

I saw a line of meals/ice cream with Atkins stamp on them at Central Market in Austin earlier this week. I think it's going to be huge!

Regards,

TS

Atkins has ice cream, and there is brand called LeCarb but not widely available. Although Atkins products and locarb food is gaining distribution, someone needs to make locarb frozen food. At least I need my market to carry them if they already exist.....

My latest discovery: locarb yogurt.

Last but not at all least... if you eat a large piece of fresh Jalapeño, each and every day, you will hardly ever have a problem with constipation.. Strange but oh so true!!

Thank you for the wonderful advice (((((Carlo)))))) - a question though - does it *hurt* coming back out? (I'm serious about this!)

No, not so bad, however, in less than a week, you'll never remember you ever had a problem.

Sounds wonderful! There is low-carb bread on the market...it's probably like painting a moustache on the Mona Lisa, but I suppose someone on Atkins could try it on that, toasted. : )

That Atkins ice cream is awesome. The vanilla is outstanding (and you can put Atkins peanut butter cups with it in a food processor and make a "blizzard"-like dessert).
