Only one in five Americans approve of the federal court order under which workers removed the Ten Commandments monument from the rotunda of Alabama's state judicial building Wednesday, according to a new poll.

The new CNN-USA Today-Gallup poll found 77 percent of the 1,009 Americans interviewed earlier this week disapproved of U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson's order to remove the monument.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

--- 1st Amendment

And that's all it says.

And the fact is, this was a display, not a law.

And it was put there by local government, not the US Congress.

The constitution does not apply... and should not have been used as an excuse for this form of censorship.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. First the pledge, then the flag, now this. Soon, it will be "In God We Trust" on our money.

Socialism works best in a moral vacuum, and the left doesn't like any power (God) higher than itself, issuing checks & balances.

Be afraid. Be VERY afraid.....oh, AND FIGHT BACK!

Hopefully people are starting to WAKE UP.

Only grass root efforts can defeat the extreme left agenda (homosexual agenda, official atheism, etc) because the majority of GOP politicians are to sissy to stand up to the PC crowd.

Roy and his fellow Wahhabists down there in Mecca, er, Montgomery have done a nice job of obscuring what they did.

Mercifully, this is a shallow moment, and as word leaks out about the fact that this was televangelist driven, these numbers will change.

It is a CNN-USA Today-Gallup poll. Therefore it probably was more in the ballpark of 90% disapproval.

Exactly, when are Christians, Jews, and Muslims as a whole going to realise that the Godless are going to try to remove God from everything in our lives.

If we really do not wake up one day the American way of life and our freedom will no longer exist.

The Rev. Barry Lynn, executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, . . .

Wonder when the "Reverend" Lynn last conducted a service of worship?

You missed all those threads detailing the involvement of Coral Ridge in the installation and filming? The early creation of the "defense fund"? The sale of VHS tapes of the installation at 21 bucks a pop, or the deep connection of D. James Kennedy with the reprehensible Crouches? How about the fact that Kennedy is a proponent of a "Christian Zodiac" and "Bible Codes" as prophecy? The money Coral Ridge brings in off its political stances?

Do you really doubt this?

Cheers, CP

"....to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

Shall we, the three-quarters of society that oppose their removal, petition for a redress of this grievance?

The Federal courts have openly displayed whose side they're on with their rulings on abortion, sodomy, and other detrimental rulings of late. As it is, I wouldn't be surprised that the Sovereign has pronounced His judgement upon those of the federal system and made them demonstrate their rejection of His ordinances under public display. Really, what better testimony can one give than their own actions????

My wife, who is just about as non-political as a human can be and who finds my existence as a Republican "amusing," is really pissed about this. And she's not particulary religious, either. But she's finally realizing just how PC-gone-amok our society has become.

Of course, as a teacher, she'd had to deal with the feds and the ACLLU for a long time, so she's no naif.
