I was speaking tongue in cheek. You do need a sense of humor to detect that, of course.

Free Republic has made me a much more aware voter & citizen & even taught me to love history. I was not a good history student in school, it was so dry, but now I am sooooo imformed. I am more aware of how truly bad the rats are for this country, I know more about world history, past & current than any class could have taught me. I have made many good friends here & had some good laughs when I really needed them. I rely on FR for my news, I don't watch TV news anymore, unless it's something big they are covering, but even then, after watching it, I come here to discuss it. FR is addictive, cause it's so darn good!

I casually mentioned on another thread a few months back that a bolt came out of my lawn mower. This Freeper told me to Freep mail him my address and a few days later, the bolt arrived in the mail. He never responded to me on Freep mail so I never found out who he was and I was never able to thank him. Let me tell you my incredible story. Two years ago I started a vanity thread just before Mardi Gras to ask folks in south Louisiana for information on who to order live crawfish from online. Living here in Missouri, I wanted to show my grandchildren real live crawfish and how to cook and eat them.
I forget now how the conversation with this particular Freeper started, but he soon told me that he would send me some live crawfish if I gave him my address.
I did, not thinking that it would happen. A few days later I opened my door to FedEx delivery of fifteen pounds of live crawfish from this gentleman which was very expensive. Oh, my, did we have a feast that Mardi Gras.
The generosity of Freepers of Freepers continue to amaze me.

FR has given me a forum to vent my outrage over several different issues. I do not know what I would have done if it weren't for FR. There is no other system for conservatives. Jim Robinson is my hero!

Free Republic taught me that I was a republican, not a democRAT.
Gave me support when my children were missing.
Gives me faith in my fellow man everytime I ping to a prayer thread.
Shows me that you can care enough for people you have never met, to pray for them and be happy when the prayers are answered.
In short, Free Republic gives me reason to believe in my FRiends.

Wow. I wonder if it was the same person who sent the lawn mower bolt! ;-)

I love FreeRepublic, but the downside is that when I am reading my local online newspaper, I get angry when I try to find the reply button....and it is not there. LOL

Is that info free or ya gonna make us pay for it? I need a few time savers. It was Miss Marple and Howlin that gave me the helpful hints like bleach in the toilet .. bring the vacum cleaner out so it looks like I'm about to do it or I'm about to put it away. crockpots are a must on a busy news day too, just put in some meat and a few veggies and let it simmer the rest of the day

Free Republic has made my vegetable garden a mess of weeds, tall grass and dead plants. Free Republic has added 10 pounds to my gut. Free Republic has left my kids growing up without a Daddy. Free Republic has left my desk at work a loose pile of papers, un-met deadlines, and half completed projects. That may be true, AB. But you do a wonderful job each Sunday morning with the talk show thread. That alone makes FR worthwhile for me. Thank you!!

Why, sure, I knew that. I was using your post to demonstrate that my eyesight was just fine.

So many nights I'd sit my my window
Looking for patriots singing my song
So many words I kept deep inside me
Alone in the dark till FR came along
Adrift far a-sea, liberal waves all around me
Then it just happened I found a true home
Now here's my chance to say "FR, I love ya"
Never again will I feel all alone
'Cause FR lights up my life
It gives me the strength to muddle on through
It screws up my housework and swells up my ankles
But without my fix daily, what would I do?
Yes, FR lights up my life
It gives me the courage to keep carrying on
How can I go wrong when this site is so "right"
And a solid rock to to anchor upon!
