1. It provides me with a link to accurate news and commentary in a sea of finger-waving liberalism.
2. It provides me with a ready reference of facts and knowledgeable posters to use as ammunition in my ongoing war against puddin'-headed political thought.
3. It is full of talented people, opinionated people, knowledgeable people, kind people, and even a few just plain wackjobs.
4. It gave me an excuse to kick up my heels and lose my shirt at the tables in Vegas (during Friva Las Vegas) and to sip exquisite wine and champagne aboard the finest cruise ship afloat today.
5. It reminds me every day that there are big, ugly galoots just like myself out there who believe in pretty much the same things I do. A sense of community is the term I'm looking for, and FR is just as much of a community as any physical structure is.

A gathering place for news and commentary from all over the world. FReepers stay on top of the action. Expertise on business, economy, religion, science, politics, life, love, success, failure. Not to mention, humour. Shame on me, I'm an addict.

I found FreeRepublic when I had started to feel as if I was the only conservative surrounded by a land of liberals.
FreeRepublic changed my despair into hope.
Then the elections of 2000 came and FreeRepublic empowered me with the support of thousands of Freepers around the nation. I attended my first protest ever and ran into...Freepers! It began to sink in, I was part of something great!
GW won the White House and we met a group of Freepers to celebrate. We had played a part in this! It was our victory, too.
Then one day two airplanes struck the Twin Towers. In shock, I turned to FreeRepublic to hear Freepers in New York and around the country fill me in. Photos, news, eye-witness accounts. Chelsea blaming the Bush tax cuts for some @#$%& thing or another...
We lost our own that day. BCM and others who made us laugh and cheer...*quiet moment*
I rejoiced when I read FreeRepublic a few days later and read someone's post : "The bombing has started..." or something along those lines.
We cheered when Bush took out the criminal Iraqi Regieme and laughed unendingly at the ravings of "Baghdad Bob" together. I still have a paper sign on my desk with his image that reads "WE ARE IN CONTROL" that greet visitors when they come in.
After God and Family and Friends, Freepers got me through the best and worst of times. Sometimes with smiles, sometimes with tears, always in good company.
I wake up in the morning, thank God for my wife and family, then for his divine gift of the caffeine delivery system we refer to as coffee, and then I go to FreeRepublic.
FreeRepublic is a place I go to so I can share my love of God, family, country and coffee every day. God Bless the Freepers! ...and cheesemakers...and keepers of moose...
Seriously, remember that it's not just what FreeRepublic does for you, it's what you can do for FreeRepublic. Donate monthly.

Freerepublic has taught me that "republican" doesn't necessarily equate to "Conservative". It has also shown me that the "neo-cons" are actually anti-gun marxists hell-bent on purging the GOP of Conservatives.

I posted my first and only vanity post on November 29, 2001 titled How Does One Cope with the Loss of a Wife from Suicide?. I needed help, five days earlier my lovely wife had committed suicide and I was distraught. Freepers came to my aid with recommendations and advice. To this day, I reread the advice from all of those that helped me and I am eternally grateful. The help I got from the FR those dark days can never be measured and were priceless.

Free Republic has taught me... ...that you can close your eyes, cross your arms, turn around, and fall back with full confidence into the arms of people you have never met in your lifetime. And they will catch you. Every time..... Shucks.....that's sweet.

When I lost my son, you people were here, 24/7, to listen to me; in fact, you all saved me lots of money that I would have paid in shrink bills!

FR to me, has provided a sanctuary of reason during the waning years of the Clinton Occupation, the election of his pigwife as Senator, election 2000, 9/11, election 2002, Iraq, and all the other issues that have occured since I joined. I have met some really diverse, funny, talented, smart, and savvy people. I have been to a protest with some freepers, and have even turned a few people on to the site. I have seen other Freepers on TV, and have seen the impact that Freepers have on polls. (Im convinced that FR freeping of a CNN-Gallup poll led to algore giving up his illegal attempt at the Presidency)
FR provides a place for me to "hang". Can one hang in cyberspace?? I dont even go to new sites as all the stories are broken here first.
