Washington FReeper PICNIC! If you live in Western Washington or will be on the coast, the Puget Sound Chapter of FRee Republic will be having our FReeper Family Fun Picnic on Saterday September 20th! I need RSVPs!

Sunnyside Park in Steilacoom, WA
11:00 am until we want to leave ;)
Bring meat to BBQ
Bring cutlery, napkins, drinks
Bring a side dish to share (appetizer, salad, or dessert)

I have reserved a covered area in a gem of a park on the Sound with trains running close by and little crabs on the beach.
The kids (and adults) will love it. I'll provide charcoal, coffee, and nametags ;)
My side dish will be a fresh blackberry dessert .... ;)

You should bring wading shoes (and swim wear) if you plan to go into the water.

Wow thats very scenic. I won't be able to come because I will be up in Skagit picking up my new Shih-Tzu! YIPPIE!!! She is a doll,all black. We are very excited I'll post pics when I can!

OK all; here are my directions. The "official" address of the park is 2300 Lafayette, and I suggest checking mapquest as well for shortcuts in your area. I am posting the straight and easy ones ;)...

Coming down from the North/Seattle…
Take I5 past the Tacoma Dome.
Take Exit 129 and stay to the right to get on 74th St
Turn right onto 74th and go straight (approximately 2 miles) through the S. Tacoma Way intersection, through Orchard intersection, and straight through the Bridgeport
Intersection.

You will continue following this road, but the name will change to Custer. Go past the elementary school, still stay in the right hand lane, and the right hand lane will merge to the right connecting you with Steilacoom Blvd. Continue heading West on Steilacoom Blvd in the right hand lane.

Go straight on Steilacoom Blvd and stay in right hand lane. Continue approximately 2 miles and the road will head down a hill with overhanging trees. You must follow the road to the right.

Take your first left.
Turn right on Main St.
Turn right on Lafayette. (You’ll see the water)
Go straight until you see the park on the left.
The parking lot is also the entrance to the park.
It is $4.00 to park, or you can unload there and then
park a block away on the main road up the hill and walk back down.

Coming up from the South/ Olympia; get off on Exit 129 and head west on 74th.
Then follow directions above.

Coming from Kitsap Peninsula- Take the Jackson Street Exit immediately after crossing the Narrows Bridge.
Take a right on Bridgeport (first light)
Continue heading straight South on Bridgeport.
After driving through University Place, turn right on Chambers Ln.
Turn left on Lafayette and follow the road south until you see Sunnyside Beach on the right.

Hi Goodnesswins... I did not think pets were allowed and posted that. However, when I went down the other day, I saw a sign that says they must be on leashes and possibly not on the beach itself. (Can't remember) The thing I want to avoid is barkers, but if your sweetie is well-behaved and doesn't mind being on a leash, be my guest. Hope that helps. :)
