BERLIN, Sept 3 (AFP) - Hollywood hearthrob Johnny Depp has slammed US President George W. Bush's policy on Iraq, calling him "one of the worst liars I have ever seen," in an interview with German magazine Stern to appear Thursday.

Depp, who lives in France with his wife, pop singer Vanessa Paradis, and two children, told the magazine that "grown-up men and women in positions of power" in the US government had shown themselves to be "idiots" in choosing to go to war against Iraq and attacking Paris for its opposition to the war.

The 40-year-old, who plays a swashbuckling hero in the summer blockbuster "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl," said he was perfectly happy in his farmhouse near St. Tropez with Paradis, 30, daughter Lily Rose, 4, and his one-year-old son Jack.

Although he still has a house in Los Angeles, Depp told Stern he "could not imagine living there" for a long period with his family.

The once hard-living actor who had long relationships with model Kate Moss and actress Winona Ryder told the Thursday edition of German magazine Bunte that meeting Paradis had put him on the straight and narrow.

"Being a father puts things in perspective and gives me strength," he said.

What can we do as a nation without a strong vote of confidence from Johnny Depp?

Depp is missing a serious number of marbels.

Why he even rates a first thought let alone a second thought is beyond me.

Gee, Johnny, the American system is so bad here that you are making millions of dollars from your popularity in films and as a celebrity. Try making films only distributed in France and watch your income and status take a dive.

A word comes to mind: FRAUD!

"Being a father puts things in perspective and gives me strength."

Too bad it doesn't also give you wisdom, Johnny. (P.S. your perspective is still way off.)

Hey Johnny! Do the names "Dixie Chicks or Custer" ring a bell? Let me tell you your future. Try to picture an empty theater. And the only people in there will be the employees sleeping or some men with trench coats on.

"one of the worst liars I have ever seen,"

Is Mr. Depp referring to French President Chirac's lies about "hundreds of thousands" buried in those never-found "mass graves" in Kosovo?

Or is Mr. Depp referring to President Chirac's intial lies about ordering the French attack that sunk the Rainbow Warrior and killed a fellow left-wing radical?

Or is Mr. Depp referring to the casual lies bandied about daily by both the French press as well as by President Chirac regarding Chirac's taking of bribes and women in return for official French government favors?

I don't see where in this article he calls President Bush a "liar". He is not shy in his hatred of America but I fail to see where he mentions the President.

Notice how he doesn't comment on 11,000 elderly and sick people dying of heat and dehydration in France because the French were to busy vacationing to take notice.

"calling him "one of the worst liars I have ever seen"

Only because his friend Bill was one of the best liars he's ever seen...
