From what I understand, again uncomfirmed by me, he will be proposing to offer illegal aliens who are employed or maintaining a family here the opportunity to apply for temporary work permits.

Haven't heard this, but if so, this is a variation of, or extension of, the now thrice-expired Section 245(i) Amnesty program, first instituted by the Democrats under Bill Clinton in 1994. President Bush unsuccessfully tried to extend the Section 245(i) Amnesty program last year, as a rider on a Homeland Defense bill.

Under Section 245(i), Illegals could be sponsored by either employers or family members. Those sponsored by employers counted against that year's immigration caps. This meant that legal immigration candidates were bypassed to allow the Amnestied Illegals with employer sponsorships to stay. How was that fair?

The family reuinification problem is an even bigger can of worms as it simply busts our immigrations caps. This is even true of new legal immigrants who come over through Family Reunification.

The clean solution is to count legal Family Reunification against our immigration caps, so that they actually mean something.

However, there has been enough fur flying on these threads that I wonder if these posters weren't just trying to tick Arnold's people off. Lord knows that the Arnold camp has been up to a bit of over-the-top commentary themselves.

And if that's true, it's a tragedy. I thought we were supposed to be allies here, a restful break from the agenda of the smarmy major media, the dimwits at DU, and Democrats in general, where we can intelligently discuss the issues of the day with logic and not emotion in a respectful and thoughtful manner. Maybe it has to do with which candidate one supports: I've felt the McClintock supporters as a whole (present company excepted!) were much more harsh and "tin earish" in their denunciations of Arnold than the other way around. You obviously believe the other way. The rhetoric IS ratcheting up, however, as decision time rolls around. This level of infighting vastly dismays me, and the "spin" people use to smear the other side seems unworthy of FReepers. That's just my observation.

I am not gleefully awaiting California's fall into an abyss. I am very cold hearted and if it is bad for business and markets, it is bad for me. But I think Cal may be about to teeter on in with the help of the republicans and the californians own desire to have everything paid for by someone else, mostly their business people and so called rich.

"Best in Show" is a quirky, terrific movie. I believe the same folks made "Drop Dead Gorgeous." If you liked one, you'll like the other.

...the support Arnold is getting from moderates, independents and free-thinking rats would go elsewhere. Or not vote at all. And Bust-a-move would win in a walk.

We all know this to be true.

Yes, it should be quite obvious. However...

McClintock is proud of having fought the "Republican Establishment" for 20 years.

"He soon sought his first election to public office and began his now famed practice of taking on what he calls the "Republican establishment."

McClintock proud to be on right

Apparently it is more important to him to fight the Republicans, than the Democrats.

Ya....I reckon those "assault" rifles can be downright skeery. Anything else you find scary that we should ban? Maybe we could also ban patronizing Conservative Southern men. Then all the liberal cajun-girls could live happily ever after.

Well, let me think about that. Meanwhile good nite all and I hope California survives. I would hate to see Cruz start another unfortunate civil war by returning them to Mexico.

"desire to have everything paid for by someone else, mostly their business people and so called rich. "

---

That's where Arnold comes in. He wants to change this and make CA business friendly.

You are also wrong that people would get fed up -- there are too many liberals here. In San Francisco they regulate private property just about as much as any communist country did and I haven't heard of any revolution.

That's a pretty scary article about how McClintock has obstructed progress on the car tax and other important fiscal issues if he didn't get his own way 100%. Did you notice the tactful way that many of the people who work with him said he is not a "team" player? I guess it shouldn't surprise me that he is not interested in being a Republican team player in this election either. It disappoints me but doesn't surprise me.

How true this is. Of course, those who need to think about this are the blind ones.

Scott Barton, vice president at Playboy Entertainment, told Reuters his company would re-release a long out-of-print video that features Schwarzenegger living it up during a 1983 Brazilian carnival. "It's a mutual love fest and he's certainly caught up in it," he said.

Also on Monday, an agent confirmed he was trying to find a publisher for a memoir by Schwarzenegger's first girlfriend titled "Surviving Arnold."

Nice whitewash.

You've neglected how frequently that Republican establishment has made it their priority to fight against the grass roots in this state. This feud is long-running, and the betrayals of the GOP establishment over the years are a big part of the reason so many have no use for them.

I mailed in my absentee ballot marked McClintock this morning.

You're really efficient! I guess you made a decision on Prop 53, huh? Unless I see a good reason, I'm going to vote no on 53 when I get my ballot. It should arrive any day.

Ever stop for five seconds and consider the fact that that is exactly the thing you all are doing this very second. Fighting the Republicans. The conservatives. The base. Kinda hypocritical to sit here and denounce the very thing you are doing, isn't it?

Might be a good time for some Arnold supporters to shut up and not make a bad situation even worse.

The only thing worse and stupider than a sore loser is an arrogant, derisive, divisive winner.
