The support Arnold is getting from Republicans would shift to McClintock (Although not all because many would realize the simple fact that McClintock can't win in Red California, so they would simply stay home). And the support Arnold is getting from moderates, independents and free-thinking rats would go elsewhere. Or not vote at all. And Bust-a-move would win in a walk.
We all know this to be true.
To: KQQL
You're right! A vote for McClintick is a vote for Cruz.

(I only vote Republican to stop the Democrats)
To: cajungirl
Go jump in the lake with that logic and drown it for good please. There is nothing good about getting another Democrat elected to again show what hacks they are as they forward their agenda for 4 years. No freeping way! That would be horrible.

"... Both Uberman and McNader will find themselves out of political capital if Arnold loses this race." Yes indeed. McClintock had better realize that he barely squeaks by in being re-elected to his own district. He wins by as little as 5% in what's supposed to be a 'Conservative' region.
He would serve us better as Speaker of the CA Assembly, which is a more powerful job than Governor.
To: My2Cents
Do you get the impression that Arnold's supporters would sit on their hands and not vote for McClintock? I've seen precisel the opposite stated here in the various threads.
Implicit in the "McClintock can't win" formulation is the assumption that McClintock wouldn't get all the votes now going to Arnold. I'd like to see polls looking at the Republican head to heads with Bustamante, from all angles.

(Arnold opposes the driver's licenses, but he also wants to lobby DC to legalize Illegal Aliens. Ah.)

We still have a very good shot at taking the state back!

No, I'm serious. I'm wondering when this was taken.
To: Andy from Beaverton
Yes, a vote for berman or McC is a show of passive support for the Democrats.
Makes them worse than any Rino in my book.

FYI, in the last Presidential election, no one asked what Nader's numbers would be if Bush dropped out. When you're in third, you're in third.Bingo! Good point.
To: cajungirl
"... I think we might be better off if Cruz gets elected and shows his colors..." Most idiotic post of the day.
Who's 'we', anyway? You're from Louisiana.

The Field Poll leans liberal. So some say. That isn't what's important, however. What *is* important is how the numbers have changed over the past couple of weeks since they last polled:
In the first half of the poll of 1,036 Califorinians, which was released today, 58 percent of likely voters said they favored removing Mr. Davis from office, up from 51 percent last month.
Asked whether they thought he would be recalled, 68 percent said yes.
In the second half of the poll, to be released on Saturday, Mr. Bustamante, a Democrat, and Mr. Schwarzenegger, a Republican, placed well ahead of the 133 other candidates on the ballot. The recall ballot will pose two questions. First, should Mr. Davis be recalled, and second, who should succeed him if he loses? The survey showed that 25 percent of likely voters favored Mr. Bustamante, while 22 percent said Mr. Schwarzenegger was their first choice. Three other Republicans followed the front-runners, with State Senator Tom McClintock picking up 9 percent, Bill Simon Jr. 8 percent and Peter V. Ueberroth 5 percent.

"[Uberoth] said he is doing that because it is a problem beyond dims and pubbies, only an outsider can fix it(paraphrase)."I've seen the presstitutes label him wiht an "R" and believe the ballot does too. I may be mistaken.
As to this Fields poll, whatever. I don't trust Fields a whole lot. I did hear from an Arnold insider that polls show 89% of Californians are watching the race closely, a number never before seen. We are in for a helluva ride, that's for sure...

Fred Barnes was discussing this on Special Report tonight. He seems to think that Arnold might be able to entice McClintock to drop out by pledging no new taxes or/and financially backing McClintock for a run at Boxer's Senate seat. Barnes seems to think that the only thing McClintock hasn't had in his past state campaigns is enough financial support. It would be sweet (in my Georgian opinion) to have Arnold win and then have McClintock be set-up to beat Boxer.

Uberroth is not running as an Independent? He says that he is running as an independent, but he's a registered Republican, and that's how he appears on the ballot.

As a conservative, I still don't see any benefit to an Arnold victory. He's ignorant of the issues and liberal. Bustamante is liberal, but at least he showed up for the debate.
To: The Old Hoosier
So was I.
It's a good question.
To: Andy from Beaverton
well it sure looks like California is going to get something totally unexpected - a far worse governor than Davis! Don't worry, Mclintock fans, I'm sure Bustamante will crack down on the illegal aliens, Indian casinos, etc. Brilliant strategy, figuring that 3 Republicans can beat one democrat in California.

will hang until the last second and then drop he knows it would fall on him if the gov is bustamonte Last minute dropouts don't work in CA, where 40% of the votes will be absentee. The time for Arnold to drop out is NOW.
