Yes my friends it is time for my annual Left Wing College Entry!
Unforunately I have reformatted my computer since the last entry and lost the ping list!
Thats ok because I'm sure many of you will want to read this. Last year I had annual entries from a liberal college professor and ar argument I had with a girl on Iraq.
This year to start things off I will post an argument with a girl. This argument was over guns. The poor girl was clearly outmatched.
She thought she was a Conservative Republican and when I asked her why she said because her Dad was. This is what she and I said...word for word...its quite sad.
Me: "I think guns are great. I think that everybody ought to have a gun. There should be a law that says everyone should be forced to carry one."
Girl: "What are you crazy? I don't like guns. I won't allow them in my house."
(Keep in mind that this girl is under 20 and living with her parents.)
Me: "Why? Why don't you like guns? I think they are great!
Girl: "Guns make loud noises. I don't like that. Have you ever had one pulled on you? I think that would change your mind about them real quick."
Me: "No. I think it would make me want to have one even more. Especially if I got one pulled on me."
Girl: "You are not going to change my mind about this."
Me: "Imagine this scenario. What if you were a bank robber or a Convience store robber?"
Girl: "I don't like this scenario. I would never rob a bank."
Me: "If you go into a store intending to rob it. Would you rather have all the customers armed? Or would you rather have all the customers unarmed?"
Girl: "I would just give them all my money. I'd be like here you go mr crook."
Me: "So you admit that you would submit yourself to a crook for no reason."
Girl: "Shoot No. I wouldn't submit myself to anybody. All I am saying is that guns are intended for a bad purpose. You can easily use a gun for a bad purpose."
Me: "You can use a fork for a bad purpose as well. You could easily use a car and run somebody over with it."
Girl: "But if you are a crazy person and you have a gun...."
Me: "There are a lot of crazy people who will wait for that waiting period. They don't mind."
Girl: "What they are trying to do is get the guns out of the hands of the most crazy. Nervous people shouldn't be allowed to own guns. Convicted felons either."
Me: "How are you going to define who is nervous and who isn't? Dictators do that sort of thing. Why is it that convicted felons keep all their rights when they leave prison but they lose their right to own a gun. Owning a gun is just as important as free speech."
Girl: "No its not. Owning a gun is not as important as free speech."
Me: "Yes it is. It most certainly is. The Second Amendment?"
Girl: "What does the Second Amendment say?"
Me: "You know...about the right to keep and bear arms?"
Girl: "Ohhhh yeah. I guess that is one of our laws isn't it?"
Me: "So judging by this conversation you are a liberal when it comes to gun control."
Girl: "Oh no. I am a Conservative. Wouldn't a liberal be somebody who wanted everyone to have guns?"
Me: "Of course not. A liberal isn't the sterotype you have in your mind. A liberal wants control, power, money. They want to control whether or not you can use your cell phone while you drive, control what you eat, control whether or not you smoke because they say they know whats best for you. Look at the main liberal groups in the country. PETA- Wants to ban meats and dairy. NOW- Wants to control the way women act and think. Greenpeace- Wants to control anything you do related to the environment. Wants to regulate your car. Liberal politicians want to tax you as much as possible so that they can control your money and how you spend it. They want to take God away from everything."
Girl: "Oh. I didn't know that. I had always thought of the definition of liberal and conservative in a different way. Like when we are at church. A girl dresses conservatively because she wears a skirt. A liberal thing to do would be to wear pants. "
Me: "This is partially right. Conservative means someone who wants to Conserve the values and laws of the country he or she is in. A liberal is somebody who wants to change the values of the country he or she is in. If I were in Iran I would be a liberal because I would be lobbying for a free society. Iran has a different past. It all depends on what country you are in and what beliefs that country has."
Girl: "I don't think I understand all this. You aren't giving me any examples. You are just beating me over the head with your opinions."
Me: "No. You are now more informed than you were before you started debating me."
As I left the bus this hot hot hot girl that was sitting behind came up behind me and said with a come hither look....
"You can't debate with stupid people. It just doesn't work."
I told her thanks and to have a good day. She said that I should have sat next to her because she would have agreed with me!
