Pfft, I read it for humor.
If you think there's anything you can do to avert another O.J. fiasco, you're dreaming.

RG, so true, but is there anything to stop the money from coming in until the case is resolved? Insurance money can be frozen, but the house now is technically in Scott's name, correct? What about book right's? If Sharon doesn't win, then the path is open for Scott, and even if she does win, will she have to then make a move on each member of his family in order to stop financial gain to any Peterson?

Hi Rusty, the house still remains in limbo from what I can tell. No affidavit of death has been filed and previous statements by an officer of Stewart Title indicate that there will be a cloud over the title until the criminal case is resolved. Sharon can request immediate injunctions freezing assets and income that she believes are improperly procured by SP's family and others. Who knows what a judge will do?
To: RGSpincich
On a related note, what is the statue of limitations on a wrongful death suit. If this guy is acquitted (god forbid)they need to file suit. In a civil suit I think Scott would have to take the stand - that would be interesting, wouldn't it?

"But to assume they are stupid is an act of profound stupidity. They are not."
Oh I don't think Scott is terribly stupid he just has a very distorted view of his own abilities/characteristics in relation to others. I agree detectives see this all the time and they were likely pushing his buttons (big time). For instance, he may have planned to stay away from Amber for awhile but with the police attacking/questioning him he had to have some psychological comfort.

Ron Frey's oldest daughter, Ava, made the connection. She lives in Modesto, not far from Scott and Laci Peterson's home on Covena Avenue; she said she did not know them.AHA! Thanks, Mags! Had forgotten that, so thanks for the recollection!

Sharon Rocha has filed a civil suit. Here is the article.I am cheering for her!GO SHARON GO!

The statute of limitations now runs two years in California. That changed on 1/1/03 from a one year SOL. The time starts running when the death is discovered. So the way I figure it they have until April 1995 to file something. SP on the stand will be interesting. I'm sure he'll testify in the criminal trial, too.

Stuck in the 90s. Make that 2005.

"Please let us know what the program says!"The Dateline program was all about the convict who said that Peterson had asked him about getting someone to steal Laci's car for insurance money, and when he got Scott two guys and heard Scott talking about kidnapping Laci he was out of there because he knew Scott meant more than kidnapping and he didn't want to hear any part of it.
There were some points that make you wonder if it did happen that these thugs killed Laci. Even if they did I think Scott could be held on a 1st degree murder charge anyway.
This guys lawyer said whoever leaked this story has given his client a death sentence because he is now known as a snitch in prison and they don't think to highly of snitches

This guys lawyer said whoever leaked this story has given his client a death sentence because he is now known as a snitch in prison and they don't think to highly of snitches. Uh, this lawyer wouldn't be the same attorney who has had his own face plastered on TV for the past week, would it?
whoever leaked this story
And whoever publicized it. Nice work, counselor.
To: Spunky
So you think there might be some truth to this story?
Trust me, if Scott got guys to kidnap and/or kill his wife--and we know what happened to her, no way can he say something like "gee, I just wanted her kidnapped, not killed"--then Scott is DEFINITELY eligible for the death penalty under the law. Even if Scott never dirtied his hands physically doing any of the dirty work.
As another poster said earlier, the fact that these others were engaged by Scott (if that IS a fact) would IN NO WAY get Scott off the hook.

Good point, RG!

"Uh, this lawyer wouldn't be the same attorney who has had his own face plastered on TV for the past week, would it?'RG, Since I don't have cable anymore last night on Dateline was the first time I have seen Cory's lawyer, Muni. It may very well be that he has had his face plastered all over TV but I have never seen or heard of him before.
I don't recall him being mentioned here on FR either.
I just went to CourtTV.com and it appears that one of the posters there believes that Muni is rather goofy.

The program was just an interview with the Lawyer for Carrol. Frank Muna I think his name was. They did show a picture of City Lights Strip Club and the Motel where the meeting supposedly took place in Fresno. Then there was a quick blurb from the former Detective that did the LD test. All in all it wasn't earth shattering. Although, Frank Muna AND the Detective did say that Cory Carrol definitely "believes" this is the truth.

Firstly, THIS Judge is No Ito. He seems to have a pretty tight hold on things including the Lawyers. He has not been tolerating any nonsense so far. In addition, the Judge has so far NOT bought any of Geragos's foolishness. He has lost most of his motions. Secondly and more importantly, I doubt there will EVER be a bozo jury which was completely nullified from day one, in this case or many others for that matter.

Ray do you remember sometime ago, it was discussed that IF Snott is convicted that the house would revert to Laci's Estate?!! Therefore it would be Laci's family that would inherit the house and they could either rent it or sell it.
