Mike Walker on the Al Rantel Show: "If We're Wrong, Rush Could Own Us"
790am KABC Radio

Posted on 10/09/2003 8:14:20 PM PDT by Cinnamon Girl

Mike Walker of the National Enquirer has been on the Al Rantel show for the past two hours discussing the story which his paper broke about Rush Limbaugh's dependence on prescription drugs, obtained illegally through his housekeeper. As Mike said, if this story was erroneous, Rush could sue them out of business. The National Enquirer did all kinds of checking before going with this story. He said they only paid for the story from the housekeeper after she had already gone to the police with her story and evidence.

But the most upsetting thing Mike Walker and Al discussed is the possibility that oxicontin (?) causes deafness and that Rush may have caused his own deafness by taking up to 30 or so pills a day. That is a horrible thought.

My wish is that Rush gets on the radio, comes clean about his addiction, and gets the help he needs. The longer he waits to do this, the worse it will be for him, in all sorts of ways. The police are apparently more interested in busting dealers than users in this sort of situation, but the housekeeper and her husband received immunity with their statements to the police. The claim is that Rush also was receiving UPS deliveries of pills from another source. Whatever the case, he should come clean.

When he comes clean he'll be pilloried by the left and probably by the upstanding conservatives too.

What sort of "updstanding conservative" would pillory him for being a drug addict? It should evoke sympathy. Sometimes there's a real ugly side to some so-called "conservatives"...

I've noticed Rush having trouble with some words; however, I believe it is because of his hearing loss. As far as his attitude ever since this evil hit last week, he seems to be not at all worried about it and seems to be extremely upbeat and ebullient.

I hope Rush does end up owning them. A city in Florida could end up getting a good conservative newspaper.

Rush talked about (r)nold getting bashed about this 'old' news while he tries to take office. Lawsuits, prosecutors, etc.

I imagine there would be tracking records for UPS deliveries, would there not?

Rush's new radio contract was just a smoke screen for Rush's activities as a drug dealer. Rush wasn't taking 30 pills a day; he was taking a few of them and trafficking the rest of them to the Queen of England. < /Lyndon LaRoach >

I'm waiting for that, too.

Believe me, I'm hoping against hope that this is all a dirty Dem trick to remove Rush before the 2004 campaign.

It's never easy to find out that your idol has clay feet.

He's a friggin talk show host, not a role model. I listen for his commentary. What he does off the air is not my business.

I don't think there are many charges against Schwarzenegger that are not barred by the statute of limitations.

the National Enquirer did all kinds of checking before going with this story.

The same kind of "checking" they did when they had a picture of a transparant Elvis on the front page of their rag under the headline "Man Dies, Goes to Heaven, Sees Elvis, Takes Photo as Proof"?

Maybe he's playing a head game. He has used the same verbiage about "fatigued" on occasions in the past. All I know is, he's innocent until proven guilty and so far, this is a National Enquirer story and nothing else.

Also, does UPS use drug-sniffing dogs?

I love it when all the people on here have automatiucally assumed that RUSH is guilty!

And the comment about receiving the pills via UPS!!???
So F**)(**)(* what!

I receive mine via UPS also! I have a standing prescription for 3 pills/day and they mail me a 90 day supply at a time.

Am I now automatically a dope dealing dealer or addict?

((Not you, Cinnamon Girl, the idiots on here!))

BTW - I don't take 3/day except in rare occasions where the pain gets too unbearable - the pills make me itch.

;I don't think anyone would shed any tears if the Enquirer
;were sued into oblivion...

If the enquirer vanished where would we learn that King Tut Died in a Jet Crash or that Elvis is alive and well and fathered the loch ness monster ?

The most entertaining thing here is that anyone in this nation takes that publication seriously.

FWIW: Rush may actually be taking Oxycotin legitimately. Therein lies the complexity. "I was taking the stuff but not to much and not abusing it". Not convincing. How to prove exactly how much you took, especially when facing legal jeopardy. Play poker and hold your cards.

Unless the DA moves with charges against him this will fade into oblivion.

He may be having fun with the people who desperately want this story to be true.

Could be. He talks at times about President Bush's "rope a dope" technique. He may be letting his critics hang themselves.

Oooh... the groping thing with Arnold truly is "old news"... even if the charges were true, the statute of limitations on any criminal or civil charge has long since passed.

Oh, well, then he must be guilty if he didn't issue a public denial just for your benefit, right? By your standards, I must be guilty of kidnapping the Lindberg baby, becasue I haven't denied it.

Yes but the Enquirer is saying Rush took 30 oxycontins a day - oxycontin is VERY powerful and there is no way Rush could work taking that many pills that are that powerful.

They don't say why he would be taking the drug so much BEFORE he went deaf. And I have yet to read anything that would explain why he would.

I know I've heard some talk about the weight loss, but then again I hear Oxycontin causes weight loss and deafness and "no" it makes you fat and is prescribed only when you are going through the choclear implant procedure, etc. etc. etc.
