I live fairly close to the Burning Man Festival site and can say with some certainty that the average BMF-goer is motivated by sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll.
(Don't be put off just because BJ Clinton was a Quigley fan too...)
In a word, it's just a stage of growth. Unfortunately, one of the terminal stages of growth ;)
Proably true, but that does not negate the fact that in other countries where people are leading Goldless lives, Paganism has had a massive growth.....
I guess the question is, what do you mean by "massive growth?"
How many pagans are there in the US?
I don't know that? Is the ACLU Pagans? are homosexuals that are trying to enforce there values on people that follow the Holy Scriptures Pagans? Pagans are idol worshippers and I guess they can manifest there forms of worship in many ways that would be considered paganism...
I have also read that many people around the globe that are dis-illusioned with the Bigggest Mainstream Religions of the world:
Christianity, Judiasm and Islam are beginning to think that they have failed, they bring no PEACE and only cause wars and dis-harmony in people's lives, saying that these people would be easliy swayed into Paganism.
Paganism is just one of may narcisitic, self-absorbed approaches to finding "meaning" or other fulfillment absent a set of well-grounded spiritual principals. Rather than worry about the "rise" of paganism, Churches and their members should focus on evangelizing and being better examples themselves.
Oh, I forgot, some of us are too busy complaining about the practices of the church next door to worry about spreading the Gospel to others.
That seems to be a pretty broad definition of pagan. One could be, for example, a Christian and a member of the ACLU. Similarly, one could be gay but also consider themselves Jewish etc.
I think you can only count people who consider themselves to be pagan as part of this group.
It's easy to paint this in such a way as to make it look like there is a new trend away from Christianity. All it is is a shift from evolution and "the age of reason" to a slightly more headonistic way to not be a Christian.
Many reports regarding Paganism is coming out of Europe, when you see such GODLESSNESS in many of those countries that endorse Homosexuality, Abortion on Command, Anti-Semitism, then it is no suprise that Paganism would be endorsed also..free for all for people to do there own thing with no repercussions from GOD Almighty....
I notice, as I always do, that anything related to paganism has a very strong gay sex slant to it. For so many of them paganism is just a fantacy or a dress code or a conversation piece but what they are really about is promiscous gay sex. I think what is really changing in society is that these Goddless queers and witches are becoming beyone acceptable and altogether vogue. My family has recently become fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the token paganism and gayness is all over the series.
it just means that they are less able to distinguish between genuine gospel and feel-good ritual??? yes but where does this eventually lead people to?
I agree..Acceptance of Homosexuality in Mainstream society is like opening up Pandora's Box...
Too often it leads people into New Age groups. I think that people who have been exposed to Christianity as children are more likely to return to it after experimenting with neo-paganism. Children who were not exposed to Christianity having a longer, harder road when neo-paganism fails them.
I don't know about Judisism or Islam but Christianity never was meant to bring peace to the world.
"Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword." Matt 10:34
It's getting close to the day of the Lord. The end is near.
Luke 17:26
26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
(KJV)
Gen 6:5-8
5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
(KJV)
Christianity brings PEACE to your heart....
