Prayer for the Election of a Pope - Lord God, you are our eternal shepherd and guide. In your mercy grant your Church a shepherd who will walk in your ways and whose watchful care will bring us your blessing. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. (Collect, Mass for the Election of a Pope, Roman Missal)

Maybe we'll have a Pope today!

Although, I suppose the Holy Spirit works on his own schedule. So, I'll be happy however long it takes, just as long as the Cardinals listen to the Holy Spirit and choose a wise and holy man.

You reminded me of my favorite expression when dealing with problems, issues, or in a quandry.

"God never comes too early, and He never comes to late."

So it will be with the Holy Spirit's schedule! :) Although I really believe the Holy Spirit has made His choice, we just have to wait for the Cardinals to "catch up," and tap into the message! LOL

Wow, this homily is amazing!

Yes, Cardinal Ratzinger has given two extraordinary homilies. The first was at the funeral Mass for JPII. Beautiful.

My Parish does "Mass & Movie" Once a month for the kids. Its really gotten lots of Kids to come to church. They watch a movie and talk about the Christian Values of the Movie. And the anti-christian things.

Recent Conclaves - The record of recent Conclaves, the last 100 years, shows that the College elects a new Pope on average on the 3rd day in the afternoon, after about 8 ballots. Pius X, 1903: 4 days, 7 ballots Benedict XV, 1914: 3 days, 10 ballots Pius XI, 1922: 5 days 14 ballots Pius XII, 1939: 2 days, 3 ballots John XXIII, 1958: 4 days, 11 ballots Paul VI, 1963: 3 days, 6 ballots John Paul I, 1978: 2 days, 4 ballots John Paul II, 1978: 3 days, 8 ballots There are less Cardinals voting now with John Paul II's Reforms...is there not? Could that effect the Voting.

For those obsessed with St. Malacy and the end of the world, any Pope elected will fit this prophecy, one way or another :-)

Okay everyone, this is OT but I need the help of as many of us as I can get and this thread seems to capture the majority of us.

My hubby who is a Prebyterian decided it was time to go to Holy Mass with us. (Keep praying for conversion, please!). We discussed whether he should go to a Lite-Mass, that is without the Latin and Greek, or to a full blown conservative Holy Mass. He chose the 1:30 which is totally in the vernacular, normally. I have to get my girls to the church for choir at 10:30, no matter what but he sleeps later than the 9:30 and the 11:30 is in Slovak. It's a bit of an effort on my part but well worth it.
Okay, so here is the problem. We had a family sit behind us that needed to be in the cry room. My hubby could not hear what Father was saying because of it. Looks back at this family did not help at all. The mother took the little into the cry room during the Consecration! but left the father with the older boy who continually asked where his mom was.

How would you handle the situation?

You would be amazed at how many things duct tape really can fix.

Can anyone access the live feed from the Vatican? Or does anyone have another online source for a live feed of the smokestack?
