One thing... Re: the James Ossuary

Oded Golan is definately an antiquities forger. When he was arrested, Israeli authorities found a forgery "factory" in his house that included engraved stone inscriptions in the process of being "aged" by a process that duplicates the patina found on the James Ossuary.

Thanks to SunkenCiv for finding this very interesting article.

Very interesting article on the discovery of a 1st Century Jewish burial with a shroud used in the same manner as described for the Shroud of Turin...

Also, a narrative about the finding of another tomb with ossuaries for "Mary, a Joseph, a second Mary, a Jude son of Jesus, a Matthew, and most significantly, a Jesus son of Joseph."

While these were very common names in 1st Century Jerusalem, the juxtaposition of these names in one family tomb is interesting.

If you want on or off the Shroud of Turin Ping List, Freepmail me.

The one thing that is being over looked is if this person had leprosy then they would be pronounced unclean and could not be buried in a family plot.. Anyone touching the body would be unclean; it would have been against their religious beliefs.

Would the roman military persons take a chance to touch a person with leprosy?

And finally why does he say that Jesus had 6 half brothers and sisters? When the bible contradicts that claim.

Like a lot of these guys he uses the Bible when it suits him (as is mentioned in the article) and then develops "theories" of his own when it suits him.

Frankly, all of these ridiculous "theories" about Christ--the DaVinci Code, the Gospel of Judas, the Ossuary of James, and now this--are becoming tiresome.

Does it ever strike you as odd that ABC, CNN, the History Channel, A & E, Discovery, National Geographic, and the other "usual suspects" trot this garbage out on or near Holy Week? It is also interesting that the Big Three will put on Moses but not Jesus of Nazareth as they did years ago. Frankly, this tiresome garbage gets tiresome as someone says just above.

The idea of Jesus ben Pantera is nothing new. It comes from Jewish polemic literature of the early centuries, in the time of the bitter struggle between early Christians and early rabbinnical Judaism.

Um, if they have established a matralinear link in the DNA of the bones found in the shroud tomb then would not they match the DNA from the Shroud or the Sudarium? Or how about the Eucharistic miracle at Lanciano?

While it is interesting and at least of historic value, it's being sold with hysteric value this Easter Season along with the DaVinci Code and the Gospel of Judas.

Yawn.

"And finally why does he say that Jesus had 6 half brothers and sisters? When the bible contradicts that claim."

I do not recall that the bible gives a number, but it does confirm that he had brothers. It mentions them as coming out when he is preaching to collect him. When told that his mother and brothers were looking for him, he replies "Who are my brothers and mothers? Those that do the will of God" Traditionally the brothers were considered elder half brothers by a previous marriage of Joseph.

And time for the price of gas to go up, gearing up for Memorial Day. Happens every year, like clockwork.

This fits in perfectly with the da Vinci stuff. So not only did Jesus have a human daughter (ancestress of the French royal family) but also a human father, a Roman soldier. I suppose it's grist for the mill, making Jesus the "great human teacher" still prefered by many well-meaning people, not the Christ who came to save the world. This dovetails into some of the UFO stuff I heard on the Coast-to-Coast radio program. It reduces everything so nicely to basic human terms....and leaves a dull taste in the soul.

I think I'd still rather follow Aslan, even if he isn't there.

Why does this trash keep getting recycled? Ah well, I'm sure certain Christian-haters and Christ-haters will be showing up on this thread soon to fall all over themselves to promote this theory.
