LOL. And sad.
There are days when I think about the story of the fall of Man.
I used to wonder about why it was Eve who took the bait.
Now I feel I live in an era where we are re-enacting the Fall all over again, and this time, it is women who in large part, with all the feminist agenda, have taken the bait and are destroying so much.
She's a Catholic priest and I'm the happy husband of Kournikova! |
>>>Nonetheless, as a general matter and with no personal reference, I still want to know why the gals who go out for this all look so freaky.<<<
Why is it that the "feminists" try so hard to be men? They dress like men, cut their hair like men, want roles associated with men, etc. What do they have against being truly feminine?
Absolutely! They also support 'married' priests ;-)
Hey, if you're going to dissent, go all the way.
And I am the Emperor of the Galactic Empire. You can call me Darth.
..and here is your first sacrament...
Exactly. This is such blatant, out-and-out clericalism.
As laity, our mission is the transformation of the world in the light of the Gospel. That's not enough?
Their actions clearly communicate laity = nothing, priests = everything.
But the really interesting people in Catholicism are not the priests or the popes, but the saints.
If Mary the Mother of God, a laywoman, were to appear to Pope Benedict, which of the two would drop to their knees?
And also bad with pronouns, as "Woman priest" is a priestess... and sounds horrible the way she said it.
It is like practicing law without being admitted to the bar or maybe more like hearing legal cases and rendering judgements without proper authority. Another example would be dressing up like an officer and trying to command troops.
With a little digging yourself you can find out about which seminaries have fairly liberal policies towards homosexuals. As far as the protection from false accusations.... well lets just look at what has transpired with convictions of those pederasts that went to trial.
You my friend are the one who is being fooled into thinking these are "isolated" and "rare" occurrences.
Do I think there are perverts in public education, Protestant churches, Boy Scouts...."yes, I do".
The "problem" is with the acceptance of predatory homosexuals allowed to roam freely among young boys. Giving these criminals chance after chance by transferring and "treating" these sexual predators is in fact allowing the young children entrusted to the church open to this sickness.
How would you feel if your son or you were molested by these "priests"? Would you accept the Bishop's or Cardinal's rational for "forgiveness and treatment".
If you can, you're a much better Christian than I. I am a sinner, a hypocrite and am uncharitable.... I would track the priest down and all those that allowed him to hurt my son and I would probably end up in prison.
If the Vatican see such a "problem" with renegade Bishops and Cardinals in this country.... why not get rid of them. Send them to the Appalachia, Africa, South Bronx, Rio Grande Valley, San Juaquin Valley, South Chicago to work in the field with the poor.
Like I said in my post, I'm no better than the priests and cannot judge them, but feel that the church should stand for something, not a "feel good" sanctuary for every pederast that decides the clergy is a nice way to be a single male without questions being asked concerning their sexuality.
Dear Dick Vomer,
What is reported in the media are the failures of Catholic hierarchs, and failures of their policies.
What isn't reported in the media, and what goes unmentioned by you, is that the Catholic Church, upon discovering the magnitude of this problem over 20 years ago, actually did act to remedy the problem.
What goes unreported is that the incidence of child abuse by priests peaked in the early 1980s, and fell off dramatically so that by the early 1990s, the incidence of abuse had returned to pre-1960s levels. What goes unreported are the efforts by hierarchs to achieve this result.
If one wishes to criticize Catholic hierarchs for failing in specific instances with specific abusers, that is perfectly legitimate. However, one should at least give a nod to the fact that by the mid-1990s, the specific failures of specific Catholic hierarchs were more the exception than the rule.
If one wishes to criticize certain elements of the policies used by these hierarchs to reduce the problem, that's also quite legitimate. It's clear that much of the therapeutic approach didn't work too well. Others criticize the "secrecy" involved in settlements with victims. That one is almost kind of funny, in that I was studying to be a psychotherapist in the early 1980s, and it was thought then that keeping this stuff private was in the best interests of the VICTIMS. If one wishes to criticize the bishops' actions in keeping settlements private, I understand. But many (not all) bishops were acting in good faith, with good intentions.
However, whatever criticisms one wishes to direct against Catholic hierarchs, the bottom line is still that the Catholic hierarchy in the United States (with the strong, private urging of the Vatican, I suspect) still reduced the incidence of abuse by 90% in less than 10 years. Long before it was national news.

I see they like the hand holding thing:
"San Jose State University Professor and female priest Victoria Rue.

Rue said that the highlight of the gathering was the vibrant music and the inclusion of intense spiritual moments strengthening human ties between participants."
Hey, if you're going to dissent, go all the way.
Was thinking along the lines of yet another nun who just can't abide the role the Church intends them, feels like some *second-class Catholic* and decides to perform the Rites of Mass. Sheesh.
At least the article started out on a positive note...
Ugh.
Yeah, we get the SPECIAL waffles in the Catholic Church. [/tongue in cheek humor]
Bingo. The Catholic church has always had plenty of opportunities for women to be Chaste, Poor, and Obedient. Oh, how does a so-call woman priest get around the Obedience part?
"My name is so-and-so and nothing's happening here, despite the pretty appearances."
