Charlotte Church: B16 is a "Nazi"
Ah, to be young, talented, and stupid. From EntertainmentWise.com:
Charlotte Church has whipped up a storm of controversy by appearing as a drug-taking nun and calling the Pope a Nazi in her new TV show.
The singer performed a range of outrageous stunts for a pilot of her new Channel 4 talk show, such as smashing open a statue of the Virgin Mary to reveal a can of cider and eating a communion wafer emblazoned with a ecstasy smiley face and pretending to hallucinate. ...
As well as branding the Pope a Nazi despite performing for Pope John Paul II when she was an angelic 12-year-old she called painfully thin actress Keira Knightley a scrawny bird and labelled Posh Spice Victoria Beckham "as thick as two short planks".
Church's latest CD, featuring a modern/pop sound, is titled "Tissues and Issues"; the first single was titled "Crazy Chick." Hey, if the song fits, play it.

The Crazy Chick, who was raised as a Catholic, smashed a statue of The Virgin Mary and stubbed chewing gum out on the face of the baby Jesus in a shocking comedy sketch she recorded for last week's pilot of her Channel 4 TV debut. Look out Madonna Ciccone, you have competition.

Is she expressing her views of the Pope, or is she playing a character?False dichotomy! The real question is, did she choose to play this character so as to express her views of the Pope?

Well, that proves it. As evidenced from the picture, the fat lady has sung for Charlotte Church. Heck, the fat lady is Charlotte Church.

When the Islamic Republic of Englistan is declared in the near future and sharia is imposed, the Moslems will take care of this crap. Folks like Ms. Church will become far more polite and circumspect in their public utterances.
Moslems hate it when Jesus or Mary are disrespected. Islam doesn't hold them in the same exalted place as Christianity but they still come down hard on this sort of thing. More to our shame.

I agree. Even if it is just acting,as a Christian, I couldn't do it.

I'll start worrying when these celebrities start singing our praises.

What happened to her? She used to sing some of the most beautiful songs, especially "Pie Jesu". I am absolutely stunned.

Ah, fame and youth are such a good combination, aren't they? Any parent that allows their child to become famous at an early age deserves to be horse-whipped.
That said, I guess Ignatius Press won't be selling Charlotte's CDs anymore...

Sorry to disagree with you but this young woman has made her personal political ideology very well known with other statements that she has made since 9/11. Such as advising 9/11 victims to "get over it" just a few days after the event. That sort of annoyed me and left a very bad taste in my mouth for this complete dim-bulb. The little twit should keep her mouth closed as she obviously doesn't have a clue.
Expressing an opinion that you obviously don't agree with is "stupid?" Well, that's nice.

Her career did indeed go into the toilet after that. She also had a nervous breakdown and attempted suicide not too long after that incident.
No one will ever convince me that Sinbad O'Connor was not/is not possessed.

Charlotte is one of the few "celebrities" on the internet whose nekkid girl pictures are REAL. And as a quick Google search will attest, she sure seems to have a lot of them!

Gaah! What a waste! All that talent, and for what? Nothing!
I used to be Miss Church's biggest fan -- not because of her cute looks (she's just a kid, for pete's sake), but because she has one of the truly great voices of our time. God gave her such a lovely instrument to play to give Him glory.
And what does she use it for? To spead lies!
Youthful stupidity? I hope so. I hope that someday Charlotte Church wakes up to reality and realizes the gift she's been given. As an admirer of her talent, I will look forward to that day. For now, however, she's off my playlist.

As I noted, I MAY have misread the post. But I will stick to this: If this is a character she played, it is different than saying she said it. If she said truly obnoxious things in the past, than that's your story. But from what I'm hearing, it is reasonable to suspect that the statements MAY reflect her own views.
But you seem to be saying that past stupid things she has said justify misreporting. Did she personally state that Benedict is a Nazi, or did her character? If she stated it in character, particularly if the character was meant to be nuts, or something like that, than it is reprehensible to leave the impression that she made a statement of her personal views that Benedict is a Nazi, and it is absolutely devestating to credibility.

Well, she has such great mentors to follow: Barbara Streisand, Linda Rondstat(sp?), Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey. (/sarcasm) Excuse me, I think I shall weep.
Thank God for Celine Dion.
