But, why? English is my language … preach to me in my native language.

But why is it all about you, and not the universal language of the Church?

Yea, I wake of every morning wishing that I could attend a religious service presented in a language I don’t understand.

Don't kid yourself that you understand Mass in English.

requests for authoritative clarification (known as dubia) on elements of the new norms are going to the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei by the ream from the dioceses and episcopal conferences.

I don't see a source for this . . . Am I looking in the wrong place?

L.A., hmm? In case you missed it: In the land of ilk and Mahony (re: article in the LA Archdiocese paper on TLM). The Tidings seems to be making a yeoman effort to discourage it!

There’s no demand — no need for any changes to current traditional practices.

You wrote:

All the preaching is in the vernacular.

“In my youth I suffered through Latin Masses, beautiful, but not understandable to the average citizen..”

Nonsense. Illiterate peasants in the Middle Ages learned to understand it. Surely you can too.

The Tidings cheeses me off. At a time when the Church is under attack, that rag continues to crank out liberal theologies, articles, and points of view that are to the left of Hellary. It should be encouraging the faithful to pray as Fr. Peyton once did.

Ever try attending a Mass in Lyon? Or Munich? Given that my knowledge of Latin is superior to my knowledge of French or German, I'd much prefer to be able to attend a Mass in Latin while in a foreign country.

The world is a lot smaller today than it used to be. Catholics from all nations should be able to come together to celebrate in a common language. Latin works for me.

And of course, the move back to the Traditional Mass isn't only or even predominantly about Latin. It's about a return to worshiping God, not man or the "community" at Mass.

I get the feeling things will never be the same!

Thank you, Pope Benedict XVI, for unleashing a flood of graces upon the Church and the world!

Why didnt you get a latin/english missal? Why didnt you ask somebody what was being said? I picked it up in matter of a few weeks.

Y’know, my brother learned to recite and understand Church-Latin when he was 8; and I could sing it and understrand it when I was 13. So, Doc, we know you’re intelligent; and -— intending this in an entirely friendly way -— we reckon you’re educable.
