Today our Pastor gave a message for all of us. All Christians.
Today was The Feast of The Dedication of the Lateran Basilica.
Our Pastor began his Homily explaining what this Basilica is. As he explained it, this is the "Pope's church" just as our parish is our church. It was a great bit of history. He then went on to explain that on his recent trip to Africa, most parishes there have no building. They meet together in people's homes or in the Bush. Still, there is God.
His focus then drifted to the Election. His disappointment in our election of someone who is so Anti-Life. How many of us are depressed but still we are called to pray for our leader, not hate him, but pray for his enlightenment.
Then his words grew solemn. He told us that like the early Christians who prayed for THEIR leaders and met in secret places, so did the Christians under Communism. However, in his home country of Czechoslavkia, they did not lock the churches as they did in other places. They held the churches open and let everyone come to mass, but there in the church were the Communist police, writing names. Then they would go to the places of business and tell the people, "So you want to send your child to college, or you want an apartment for your family, well I see you attend Mass. You must stop"
He then told us that "Church is not the building, but us."
I'm not sure what to take from this, but I shivered and fought tears by the end of mass. May Our Lord have Mercy on the USA.
Learn to fight back. You have no choice now. The wolf is in the hen house.

I had let my detestation of Obama become a vice.
Pray for life.
Pray that FOCA does not pass.

I am praying for life.
And I’m praying that we don’t have someone writing down our names when we go to Mass.
I just saw something on another thread — they usually wouldn’t answer the phone for solicitation calls. But now they are and saying something like.
“I’ll have to see how this Obama plan works out.”
It’s on the collections/commitment/giving thread.
I started laughing. Good idea!
Our Preist told us pre election if O is elected get ready to suffer.
Thanks for sharing this. I needed this. I went to church today and my pastor greatly disappointed me. He just assumed that everyone was happy over an Obama presidency.
He doesn’t realize that half of the country is hurting and depressed right now and could use some encouraging words instead of hearing the same crap as on MSNBC.
Pray for your communist leaders? Is this before or after they shoot you in the back of the head and bury you in a field somewhere?

I think I’d rather pray for their clean passage to heaven AFTER they have faced defeat here on Earth.
I’m a christian. But I will not turn cheek to those who rule by force and coercion.
0bama and his ilk will work against America and the freedom of her people. I will continue to pray for their downfall.
At neither of the churches I attended over the last few weeks was there any word of abortion and the election. I was very disappointed in this.
Last night at the vigil mass during the Prayer of the Faithful one of the petitions was “for all newly elected officials to respect life, from conception to natural death.” I just shook my head, and said “Lord hear our prayer.” For some reason though, this time He didn’t.
Of course then I feel guilty because I support the death penalty when the church says we should oppose it. Though there is a difference over *innocent lives* taken by abortion, and the clearly guilty people on death row who have taken lives.
Mr. Obama’s spiritual enlightenment is a righteous goal with far-reaching implications if it were to occur while he is in office. God can certainly turn evil into good.

Basically, I did the same outside of Walmart yesterday.
The “Give to Poor Children” people were there. Normally I drop in a couple dollars. Yesterday, it was one. My “poor” kids will need the other two.
