Sebelius on her bishop: "It was one of the most painful things I have ever experienced in my life"
Deacon's Bench ^ | September 16, 2009 | DEACON GREG KANDRA

Posted on 09/16/2009 4:17:40 PM PDT by NYer

The Washington Post the other day posted a lengthy interview with Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of Health and Human Services, and Catholic. A pertinent excerpt:

MS. ROMANO: You are also a pro-choice Catholic, and I was reading some stories out of your home state recently where one of the bishops took an action. Can you tell us a little bit about that?

SECRETARY SEBELIUS: Well, the Archbishop in the Kansas City area did not approve of my conduct as a public official and asked that I not present myself for communion.

MS. ROMANO: What did you think about that?

SECRETARY SEBELIUS: Well, it was one of the most painful things I have ever experienced in my life, and I am a firm believer in the separation of church and state, and I feel that my actions as a parishioner are different than my actions as a public official and that the people who elected me in Kansas had a right to expect me to uphold their rights and their beliefs even if they did not have the same religious beliefs that I had. And that's what I did: I took an oath of office and I have taken an oath of office in this job and will uphold the law.

MS. ROMANO: Do you continue to take communion?

SECRETARY SEBELIUS: I really would prefer not to discuss with you. That's really a personal--thank you.

You don’t know what pain is, Sec. Sebelius.

She swore an oath to serve Satan from Monday to Saturday, and plays make-believe Catholic on Sunday for two hours. Geesh.

You can, however, choose to step down from a position that would make you betray your conscience or morals.......

Bell, book and candle for her.

Heck, exclusion from the sacrament of communion is the least of her worries if she doesn’t find herself in accord with God’s laws.

Sebelius thinks being denied communion is painful? The pain will be worse than she can imagine if she dies unrepentant and unsaved.

Conservative women look happy, satisfied with life, and attractive. Then there are liberal women...

It amazes me that any thinking person who can try the argument that they can separate their personal life and public life in such matters. It really is a nonsensical as they continue to take personal sides on abortion, euthanasia, or any other liberal caues, and legislating their will over others in accordance to a philosophy. It has everything to do with taking a personal argument and backing it. You can't seperate yourself from public actions that you committ to on a day to day basis. It is all tied to who you are and what you believe.

Her argument is a copout and just doesn't hold water.

This woman is talking legalism...What's legal in the Church as opposed to what's legal in the State...

But what's in your heart lady??? How can you have Jesus in your heart and condone killing babies at the same time???

One would think that Catholics would eventually admit that being Catholic does NOT automatically mean you are a member of the Body of Jesus Christ...

Apparently the Church thinks differently.

I think they were fond of saying things like this in Hitler's Germany.

How true. I have been watching her for a while now and it is apparent that she is mentally anguished... She needs God and to devote time in prayer, meditation and contemplation to the Blessed Virgin Mary. But that's just my opinion. :-)

**Sure, a pro-choice Catholic that says she does it to serve the citizens. Hmmm...**

Yes, what about her serving God first?

Makes me wonder if she has had an abortion???

Notice she refuses to answer the question of whether she continues to receive Communion. If she does, it’s sacrilege. Better go to Confession, Kathy!

“One would think that Catholics would eventually admit that being Catholic does NOT automatically mean you are a member of the Body of Jesus Christ...”

Good grief. Is there any single thing that you have right about the Catholic Church? Right now I can’t remember your ever having uttered a true thing on the subject.

As she orders millions of people into gas chambers she will say that her actions as a government official are separate from her private civilian life. right. Leftists do NOT believe that, by the way. EVERYTHING is political to a leftist. literally everything.

Good point!

Then make it easy, correct me on the issue...What is the position of the Catholic religion???

Have you seen the latest video of Carter and Rosalyn?

Lord, have mercy, she looks completely out of it, and her face is so pinched it must hurt.

Between Rosalyn Carter and Michelle Obama, I see more anger than any other two people could possibly generate.

You always have the choice of repenting, Kathleen. That only hurts for a minute, and then you feel so much better!
