Witness the "all" of me
Bible and The Comforter | Scribe

Posted on 10/17/2009 4:39:18 PM PDT by Jedediah

A manifold witness I have placed in you ,

All that is faithful and true ,

A oneness of The Father and I in one breath ,

Can you imagine this depth ,

For what once rested upon me ,

Was the one and the three in complete harmony ,

And so it is even now My fullness with you ,

For as you witness me all 3 come through ~ ~ ~

John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

John 16:6-12 (King James Version)

6But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.

7Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

8And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

9Of sin, because they believe not on me;

10Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

11Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

12I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

John 20:22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

1 Corinthians 4:18-21 (New King James Version) 18 Now some are puffed up, as though I were not coming to you. 19 But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord wills, and I will know, not the word of those who are puffed up, but the power. 20 For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power. 21 What do you want? Shall I come to you with a rod, or in love and a spirit of gentleness?

This may be a shock, but no - I do not hang on every word you type!

Try not to be too devastated.

Why would I care if you bothered about a single word I typed?

However, if you are going to assert something as fact about someone who provides soooooooooo much evidence

it’s

SORTA logical

that one might WANT

to speak from TRUTH

instead of a falsehood, wholesale distortion or a brazen lie or brazenly false inuendo . . .

particularly . . . if one is brandishing the label of

“Christian” and all.

Just a thought.

Personally,

I’d rather the various naysaying cliques did

NOT read my stuff.

If they read it, they are responsible before God for the truth in it.

I am not judging him mere ly conveying to him what God’s word says as a warning there is always repentance and wisdom is found by the fear of the Lord and his creation as this verse depicts and leaves us as a prime example but as he said God will not be mocked and even King David knew not to touch God’s anointed meaning his chosen children .

Jude 1:9-11

9 But even Michael, one of the mightiest of the angels,[d] did not dare accuse the devil of blasphemy, but simply said, “The Lord rebuke you!” (This took place when Michael was arguing with the devil about Moses’ body.) 10 But these people scoff at things they do not understand. Like unthinking animals, they do whatever their instincts tell them, and so they bring about their own destruction. 11 What sorrow awaits them! For they follow in the footsteps of Cain, who killed his brother. Like Balaam, they deceive people for money. And like Korah, they perish in their rebellion.

I've allowed a lot of leeway on this thread because the credentials of the author who is also a Freeper are subject to challenge on an "open" thread in the Religion Forum.

However, the thread is now becoming "about" individual Freepers instead of the issues. And that is "making it personal" - putting this and related threads at risk of becoming flame wars.

So back off and get back to discussing the issues, arms-length and/or academically.

If what you post comes from your heart, your heart is rotten.

And Jeff - do you ever read the passages about false prophets? Or are the only ones you know the ones you use in pride, to preach condemnation of any who oppose you?

Satan quoted scripture too - just not IAW God’s purpose.

I pinged Kosta50 to get his opinion if he would indulge us

Mr. Rogers doesn't think much of my opinion, however since you asked—ginomai doesn't mean ordain in the English sense of the word, but it can in the context of a sentence.

I am also pinging Kolokotronis, who actually speaks this "stuff," as my quality control. :) I am much better with Church Slavonic.

Just so we are all on the same wavelength, let me just say that if you were to look for a Greek word "to ordain" you will not find γίνομαι (ginomai) listed as possible matches.

Also, to make sure we all agree on what ordain means in English, here is a dictionary definition (dictionary.com):

–verb (used with object)

1. to invest with ministerial or sacerdotal functions; confer holy orders upon.
2. to enact or establish by law, edict, etc.: to ordain a new type of government.
3. to decree; give orders for: He ordained that the restrictions were to be lifted.
4. (of God, fate, etc.) to destine or predestine: Fate had ordained the meeting.

–verb (used without object)

5. to order or command: Thus do the gods ordain.
6. to select for or appoint to an office.
7. to invest someone with sacerdotal functions.

There are at least six Greek words that can be interpreted as "ordain" in the English sense of appointment, but if I had to choose a formal one I would pick χειροτονέω (cheirotoneo), as in Acts 14:23, because the root cheir implies a "higher power", meaning to create, to make, to bring into being.

In order for something to be "ordained" a higher power (usually divine) is required implicitly or explicitly. The word ginomai by itself does not have that implicit meaning. It simply means to become, to be made, created.

In Slavonic, Acts 1:22 uses the word быти (byti), which simply means to be, as the verse reads "has to be one of them." So, given the context (Acts 1:24-26) it is obvious that Matthias was chosen (v. 24) by God to be[come] (ginomai) the witness to Christ's resurrection.

In other words, the translation of ginomai in this context is compatible with English ordained, because his becoming a witness was a choice made by God. The same can be said of Gal 4:4, where God sends his only-begotten Son to be created or made [ginomai] (born) by a woman.

I would only like to mention, for what it's worth, that one is said to "become" a military officer when he or she is commissioned by the president to serve "at his pleasure." We use the "to become" in this case in a manner very similar if not identical to "ordained" except that it is not from a divine power.

Without verses 24-26 ginomai could not be translated as ordained in the English sense, but the verse clearly show that it was God who tipped the scale. Clearly, the election Mtthias was considered God's choice (Act 1:24-26) and therefore is in effect an ordination.

Well, as I pointed out in the other post the “prophet” Wilkerson has proven to be WRONG. He also predicted MARTIAL LAW in 1992, that’s a pretty BIG MISS.

When someone claims to be a “prophet” or receiving messages from the Lord, I expect a 100% accuracy rate.

I believe that’s a reasonable expectation, being that they’re coming from the Lord, how can the Lord be WRONG????

“Very accurate” (which he ISN’T) isn’t quite good enough when receiving messages from the LORD. One miss and you’re a crackpot in my book, and anyone else’s book with any common sense.

Do we have any documentation of your prophecies and your accuracy rate? You said God has used you in the prophetic before. You also claim to be to a healer, can you tell us about those you’ve healed?

I’ve looked up Wilkerson’s prophecies, he’s no better than any other fraud, you really have to stretch to try and give him “hits” and he’s got plenty of BIG MISSES. NO ONE PREDICTED OR PROPHECIZED 9/11, no one. Every dime store psychic predicts catastrophies in big cities like New York. NO ONE prophecized Islamic men flying planes into the WTC.

After Clinton did nothing after the first WTC bombing, I said many times that they would do it again since Clinton was so inept, does that make me a prophet? No, it doesn’t, it just showed that since they weren’t punished that they would try to knock them down again.

This kind of religious vanity coupled with the vitriolic anti-Catholicism exhibited by the few almost always descend to flame-war-bait. They appear to be posted for that purpose. At least imho.

AYE AYE.

Seems to me it’s become a thread more suited to bloggers/personal. LOL.

Given that I’ve probably done as much good/damage as I can to one thread, might be good to just call it enough.

Thanks for all you do.

I can almost guarantee you that the RM will suggest that those who have a problem with some threads should stay off them. I’m not attempting to speak for the RM, just remembering past exchanges.

Frankly, that’s what I’m going to do: stay away. This has been a huge waste of time, although there were a few laughs.

You are quite right, I do suggest that those who have a problem with certain threads ought to stay off them.

Hopefully there are enough thread types and subjects on the Religion Forum to accommodate most everyone.

What if common sense and rationality are the opposite of faith?

Then we are close to defining faith as madness.

Faith transcends reason/logic, it does not contradict or oppose it.

There is a big difference.
