Pray for our American Heroes
January 30, 2010 | Irish Rose

He sends his command to the earth;
his word runs swiftly.
He spreads the snow like wool
and scatters the frost like ashes.
He hurls down his hail like pebbles.
Who can withstand his icy blast?
He sends his word and melts them;
he stirs up his breezes, and the waters flow.
(Psalm 147:15-18)

Father in Heaven, we thank You for Your blessings, large and small, which fill our lives.

Father, we pray to You on behalf of our troops. Our endless prayer is for their safety and their success. Please comfort the families who wait for them; keep separated husbands and wives faithful through the trials of being apart.

Lord, we pray for the justices on the Supreme Court. We ask that You would guide them to just decisions, to right interpretation of our laws and especially the Constitution. It is our fervent prayer before You that You would so move in their hearts that they would overturn Roe v. Wade.

Lord, we remain in prayer for Rifqa, our sister in Christ. Defend her against all who would do her harm, send her comforters and helpers. May Your Spirit soothe away all fears.

Lord, You send Your command to the earth and it obeys; Your Word runs swiftly. You are not a distant God; Your creation does not run on without You. It is Your hand that spreads the snow, Your hand that scatters the frost. The icy blast and the hail are Yours, and Yours also the breezes. You melt the snow, and by Your Word the waters flow. We praise You as Creator and King, in the holy Name of Jesus, Amen.

He was getting old and paunchy and his hair was falling fast.

He sat around the Legion, telling stories of the past.

Of a war that he once fought in and the deeds that he had done, in his exploits with his buddies; they were heroes, every one.

And ‘tho sometimes to his neighbors his tales became a joke, all his buddies listened quietly for they knew where of he spoke.

But we’ll hear his tales no longer, for ol’ Bob has passed away, and the worlds a little poorer for a Soldier died today.

He won’t be mourned by many, just his children and his wife. For he lived an ordinary, very quiet sort of life.

He held a job and raised a family, going quietly on his way; and the world won’t note his passing, ‘tho a Soldier died today.

When politicians leave this earth, their bodies lie in state, while thousands note their passing, and proclaim that they were great.

Papers tell of their life stories from the time that they were young

But the passing of a Soldier goes unnoticed, and unsung.

Is the greatest contribution to the welfare of our land, some jerk who breaks his promise and cons his fellow man?

Or the ordinary fellow who in times of war and strife, goes off to serve his country and offers up his life?

The politician’s stipend and the style in which he lives, are often disproportionate to the service that he gives.

While the ordinary Soldier who offered up his all, is paid off with a medal and perhaps a pension, small.

It’s so easy to forget them, for it is so many times, that our Bobs and Jims and Johnnys, went to battle, but we know:

It is not the politicians with their compromise and ploys, who won for us the freedom that our country now enjoys.

Should you find yourself in danger with your enemies at hand, would you really want some cop-out with his ever waffling stand?

Or would you want a Soldier— his home, his country, his kin: just a common Soldier who would fight until the very end.

He was just a common Soldier and his ranks are growing thin, but his presence should remind us we may need his like again.

For when countries are in conflict we find the Soldier’s part; is to clean up all the trouble that the politicians start.

If we cannot do him honor while he’s here to hear the praise, then at least let’s give him homage at the ending of his days.

Perhaps just a simple headline in the paper that might say:

“OUR COUNTRY IS IN MOURNING, A SOLDIER DIED TODAY.”

Pass On The Patriotism!

GOD BLESS AND PROTECT OUR TROOPS!

DEAR GOD, who suffered torment, agony,
and death upon the Cross to free our souls
from the chains of iniquity, protect and defend
our troops. Guide them in the performance of
their duties. Strengthen them to endure hard-
ship, danger and deprivation in Your service. Let
their efforts free the people of Iraq and Afghan-
istan from the chains of terror and slavery,
foster a lasting peace in the region, and bring all
to a greater share in Your Mercy.
Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father,
Holy and Blessed is Your Wonderful Name!
We come to You humbly, but clothed in the Righteous Robe of Your Dear Son Jesus.
Be with Our American Heroes tonight, Dear LORD.
Be Their Rock and their Redeemer.
Be their Fortress and Their High Tower.
Be Their Strength and Their Song.
Hallelujah!
For The LORD, Our God, The Omnipotent Reigns!
The Kingdoms of the Earth are become the Kingdom of Our God and of His Christ!
And He shall Reign Forever and Ever!
King of Kings, and Lord of Lords!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
We pray that all our Troops will be returned to us, Victorious, and Unharmed, in Body, Soul, and Spirit.
In Jesus Name,
AMEN.

Thank you for your dedication to prayer and to our heroes. May God be with you.

Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. (2 Timothy 2:8a)
