It seems impossible that we could have talked about Bishop Olmstead......but here it is again!

**First, Bishop Olmsted has experience dealing with immigration issues.

Second, Bishop Olmsted has a deep commitment to priestly formation

Third, Bishop Olmsted has a Roman history.

Fourth, Bishop Olmsted has a doctoral degree in canon law.
Fifth, Bishop Olmsted has had a great deal of experience as a bishop running a large diocese, serving as the ordinary of both Wichita and Phoenix.

Bishop Olmsted has brought his media ministry right into people's homes via TV spots.  Last year the Catholic world was buzzing with the news about the television commercials that ran in the city of Phoenix, which were produced by the organization Catholics Come Home.**

Well, everyone, what do you think?

Ifr memory serves, Bp Olmstead was also quite vocal during the recent Notre Dame Sorrowful Event.

Another dynamic worth mentioning is that generally Arizona is what California looks at for redemption. It is a South Western state that somehow managed to have all California positives except the wine and the ocean, and avoid all its negatives.

I find it so amazingly sad that Mahoney wasn’t ousted long long ago.

“Cardinal” Mahony should have been sent to Gitmo years ago. He is an enemy of America. I cringe at the thought of a Hispanic replacement, who would likely be even more of an advocate for Aztlan.

Thanks for the link. I agree that Mahoney should be in Gitmo for destroying the liturgy which is the first offensive weapon against secularism. He allows bad architecture, weak translations, sloppy altar servers, anti-Catholic teachers and flaming gays to exist on Catholic property.

Shameful. How many kids have been pressured into sex by a gay seminarian? How many Catholics have given up on making sacrifices to get to heaven? How many parents have spent money on the kid's Catholic grade schools without results? How many good priests have been rejected? How many souls will spit in Mahoney's face in the next life? I hope the new Cardinal requires everyone to kneel before and after communion. And I hope he follows the instructions of Pope Benedict XVI.

I think Bishop Olmsted would be a fantastic pick.

I don’t care if he’s a Gringo or a Mexican as long as he knows, preaches and believes the Catechism.

Olmsted was for a short period the bishop of Wichita replacing a bishop who had a heart condition but who later made a remarkable recovery. It's Wichita so with the crisis averted, Rome sent Olmsted to Phoenix and didn't bother to replace him for over 16 mos. While in Wichita the bishop had isolated the remnants of the “”Happy Clappy crowd to two parishes to keep the faithful free of the contamination that he would meet in Phoenix.

“generally Arizona is what California looks at for redemption”

Really? As a native Californian, I never noticed that. Arizonans visit us in the summer to beat the heat. We send some kids there to go to college, and vice versa. We make it to the Grand Canyon, maybe. The only thing I can think of along those lines is maybe the New Age types in Northern CA, who might go to Sedona for some spirituality.

I really don’t see Californians looking east for redemption. Perhaps we should?

I only was half-serious. The reference was meant to be to Arizona’s conservatism contrasted to California’s liberal tilt.

LA can have Olmstead only if Fr. Clements becomes his replacement.

If it is the Father Clements I think you mean, he would be wonderful.
