The Truth Still Tying Its Shoes: How the ObamaNation Uses Its Pet Pseudo-Catholics [Catholic Caucus]
Letter to the Bishop of Knoxville | March 19, 2010 | Mrs. Don-o

Posted on 03/19/2010 12:48:03 PM PDT by Mrs. Don-o

Dear Bishop Stika.

Is this another case of "A lie can run around the world while the Truth is still tying its shoes"?

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs posts "Catholic approval" and hundreds of people instantly retweet it as if it's true. The whole website becomes a tweetfest about Catholics approving the Senate Health Care Reform.

PressSec Post: Another very important health care development - Catholics back health bill
http://bit.ly/csfmHu

Instantly, Gibbs has tons of support. It’s as if the flood gates open.

Google reports almost 12,000 results (pages and sites) for keywords "59,000 nuns health care"

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=com.microsoft%3Aen-us%3AIE-SearchBox&rlz=1I7SUNA_en&q=59%2C000+nuns+health+care&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=

And then ...the USCCB issues ....a press release! (How many people saw this? Dozens, do you think?)

March 18, 2010
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Clarification

Washington—A recent letter from Network, a social justice lobby of sisters, grossly overstated whom they represent in a letter to Congress that was also released to media.

Network’s letter, about health care reform, was signed by a few dozen people, and despite what Network said, they do not come anywhere near representing 59,000 American sisters.

The letter had 55 signatories, some individuals, some groups of three to five persons. One endorser signed twice.

There are 793 religious communities in the United States.

The math is clear. Network is far off the mark.

Sister Mary Ann Walsh
Director of Media Relations, USCCB

The game so far:

The Senate bill contains protections neither for life nor for conscience.

The Federal Government--- without reference to "Sanctity of Life" or "Conscience" ---becomes the by-far dominant (if not sole) definer of healthcare, regulator of healthcare, and funding mechanism for healthcare.

(Not to mention that the Federal Government becomes the sole provider of student loans to college and university students. This is in the Health Care bill. Did you happen to notice that?)

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/blogs/beltway-confidential/Federal-student-loan-takeover-attached-to-health-care-bill----what-could-go-wrong-87460742.html

So, what are the chances that Church-related people and institutions will not be suborned as dispensers of contraceptives, sterilization, abortion, infanticide, lab-based reproductive technologies, gay employment/benefits affirmative action, gender-reassignment jiggery-pokery, embryo-chopping research, assisted suicide, and terminal sedation?

What are the chances that Catholic Hospitals, Clinics, Counseling Services, Nursing Programs, Medical Schools and the like, will be able to maintain any moral autonomy or ethical integrity?

Reference slang dictionary: snowball, hell.

Is this the end of the great work accomplished over the last century and a half by our great Catholic Saints in America --- Elizabeth Seton, Frances Xavier Cabrini, Katherine Drexel, John Neumann, the Mother-Foundresses and the Builder-Bishops?

Is this the Kulturkampf gearing up to take over--- co-opt, usurp, absorb --- all our Church institutions, with a not-insignificant fraction of the "Church institutions" (including certain departments of the USCCB) signaling, "Come and get it"?

Please, somebody, tell me I'm wrong.

- St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, pray for us.
- St. John Neumann, pray for us.
- Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha, pray for us.
- St. Peter Claver, pray for us.
- St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, pray for us.
- Blessed André Bessette, pray for us.
- Blessed Marianne Cope, pray for us.
- St. Katherine Drexel, pray for us.
- Blessed Damien of Molokai, pray for us.
- Ss. Isaac Jogues, Rene Goupil, Jean de Brébeuf, and Companions, pray for us.

- All you American Saints and Servants of God, pray for us.

- St. Joseph, guardian of the household of the Lord, pray for us.

Pelosi Doesn’t Know from St. Joseph

Friday, March 19, 2010, 2:41 PM

I’m sorry. Almost nothing that has come from this woman’s mouth has infuriated me like this.

This woman is a profound grotesque who gets virtually everything wrong here, from what feastday it is, to the kinds of Catholic religious sisters supporting her monster’s bastard of a bill.

Note, because it is important in the face of her stupidity, her mendacity, her slander and her willingness to use any-and-all means to achieve her ends, the Catholic sisters who vehemently oppose this health care bill, and are not considered news-worthy by the media, or relevant by this glammed-up guttersnipe, Pelosi.

First off, Nancy, this is not the feastday of “St. Joseph the Worker.” That feast day is May 1, and it is a simple (and optional) memorial. TODAY is the Solemnity of St. Joseph, in his role as the Husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Provider and Guardian for the Child Jesus. A solemnity is not an optional feastday, and Pelosi, who was educated by religious sisters and went to a Catholic college, should know that.

Her ignorance is almost sublime. “Italian Americans” certainly do honor St. Joseph, but they do not “pray” to him. They ask him to pray for them, before the Throne of his most holy and almighty step-son, the Christ.

It is highly doubtful that St. Joseph, who was faced with an unimaginable event, one fraught with challenges, things unknown, social questions, difficulties and sacrifice, would be a happy endorser of a “life-affirming health care” bill that includes the federal-funding of abortions, sterilizations, contraception – undoubtedly, down the road- euthanasia.

In her upside-down world, Pelosi may think that this monstrosity she is laboring so mightily to deliver is “life-affirming;” that is because she is -like so many of her generation- unable to imagine life after her own. It takes a “my life right now is more important than any future life” mentality to be this committed to abortion, and to insuring that every means of preventing or ending life, at every stage, is introduced into the public mind as a Godly and enviable thing. It takes a mind that willfully misunderstand the nature of both light and life, as taught by the Church she professes to love, to stand there with a smug, “unicorns and rainbows” demeanor and spout these deceitful platitudes that are not grounded in any sort of reality.

I am disgusted to see this woman -in the same remarks where she sullies a Catholic saint and thumbs her nose at Catholic understanding, to then giddily talk about how she and her cohorts have deployed children “children as young as six, talking about what health care means to them” as propaganda shields.

This video makes me want to vomit. I try not to hate anyone, but this woman is tempting me mightily.

After all of that -and in a direct attempt to smackdown the Catholic bishops who rightly oppose this bill- the Pelosi ends with yet another slander of all Catholic religious woman, with the assistance (it must be admitted) of a few perpetually adolescent useful idiots who, as I said yesterday, “delight in poking into the eyes of authoritative teaching.” Not only does Pelosi exaggerate the number of religious women who support this bill, she frankly lies when she says that “just about every order you can think of” wants “to pass this life-affirming legislation.”

What an abominable woman; what a power-mad, ruthless, mendacious grotesque she is.

I have always argued against knee-jerk excommunications, and when Pelosi visited the Pope I suggested Catholics calm down and let the slow wheels turn, but this astonishing display has me almost choking with disgust and rage.

The Church scandalizes itself often; it is an imperfect institution where holiness and evil are activated against one another, and the battle is profound. Understanding that, one tends to the long view, and so when individual Catholics screw up and bring scandal, I am mindful of the fact that I too am a Catholic who -in my own way- can and do bring scandal to others. I understand that in my rage right now, I am probably “scandalizing” someone who thinks I should be “more tolerant of an opposing view” so I don’t particularly believe I am called to inventory the soul of another.

However, it is one thing for a Catholic to be publicly misguided, misinformed, socially maladjusted or even stupid. It’s quite another -and to my way of thinking, a genuinely evil thing- for Catholics to put on a cloak of moral authority by virtue of their church membership, and proceed to spin their deceitful webs while mindfully exploiting her greatest saints and teachings for the expressed (and unbelievably sleazy) promulgation of their legislative propaganda.

This goes beyond being a faulty human Catholic; it goes beyond being mistaken. It goes beyond “arguing in good faith.” What the Pelosi did today is a declaration that this woman is not averse to using methods of pure disorientation, to achieve her ends.

I am no authority. I cannot go so far as some in my email wish me to, and suggest that this is a woman who is actually manifesting diabolical disorientation in the world.

But right now, Nancy Pelosi has actually made me scream in horror, at her words. I know I should pray for her. I know I should. I know if I cannot, then my own soul is at risk.

I will pray for her. Maybe by nightfall I’ll be able to manage it. In the meantime, please pray for me, also, that I might settle down and embrace charity and open my heart to the Light of Christ. I don’t like feeling this way about anyone.

But first, I must scream a little more, and swallow back the bile, at the absolute horror she is become, and that she spews from her mouth.

Archbishop Chaput: The Captivity of Catholic Witness:

. . . supporters of health care reform at any cost, facts don’t seem to matter when a coveted goal seems within reach. The American bishops have repeatedly shown their support for good healthcare reform. They’ve worked tirelessly and honestly for more than seven months to help craft acceptable legislation. But they’ve also shown—and posted readily on the web—how and why the current Senate version of reform fails in at least three vital areas: abortion and its public funding; conscience protections for medical professionals and institutions; and the inclusion of immigrants. Congressional leaders have no one to blame but themselves for the opposition they’ve had to face. . . . If the defective Senate version of health-care reform pushed by congressional leaders passes into law—against the will of the American people and burdened by serious moral problems in its content—we’ll have “Catholic” voices partly to thank for it. And to hold responsible.

Thanks (I think) for this. The Anchoress says it all for me.

I am beginning to appreciate the imprecatory psalms. Not that U can pray them in full; I dare not, they scare me; I am aware of my own sin, and that my anger is at least in part unrighteous, and would lead me into sin of my own.)

The Church never uses these particular psalms liturgically: I think, perhaps, for that reason.

But if you can offer everything to the Lord, including anger, to be transformed by Him, then you can pray this against Pelosi's wickedness, that she may be freed from it, though not against her personally. Or perhaps I had better say, pray against the demon that has fastened onto her.

Psalm 58

Do you rulers indeed speak justly?
Do you judge uprightly among men?
No, in your heart you devise injustice,
and your hands mete out violence on the earth.
Their venom is like the venom of a snake.
Break the teeth in their mouths, O God;
Tear out, O LORD, the fangs of the lions!
Like a slug melting away as it moves along,
like a stillborn child, may they not see the sun.
Then men will say, Surely the righteous still are rewarded;
Surely there is a God who judges the earth.

Don’t the bishops/cardinals/Rome.. someone in authority .. have the power to tell these organizations they are to remove the word ‘Catholic’ from their names? And, if they can tell any individual priest he cannot serve as an elected Representative, can’t they tell those small groups/orders, they are not to intimate in any way that speak for or represent the view of the Church?

What th;ey are doing is nothing short of a hijacking the power, authority, goodwill of the Church itself for their own purposes and political agenda which is totally opposite that of the Church itself.

I mean, not that “I” can pray them. Not “U”! Though maybe “U” shouldn’t pray them either, if you’re a sinner like me!

The Catholic Church does not own the word CatholicTM or have it copyrighted, any more than the Quakers own "Quaker Oats." Very unfortunately.

However, the bishops are not as powerless as they suppose. [Link] Leander Perez of New Orleans was excommunicated by Archbishop Rummel for less than this.

LOL, I know. I think Pelosi knows Christians are taught to hold their tongue when angry and no one will say anything. This is how she comes off to people,She-devil. I am proud of anchoress and the multiple other links on that page of people who feel the same or worse.

People need to know dems are using lies to pass HCR with abortion paid for. Someone said today the health clinics Obama is building with tax funds will do the abortions for free.

Well, I get the ‘catholic’ as a word that could be appropriated as was ‘quaker’ for the oats .. but

These groups ARE connected to the RCC, which has a little more power over them than the Quakers have over General Mills. I think the leftist in the Church would accept an excommunication sooner than losing a major political battle.

I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Lord we come to you with all the trust that no man or evil being will harm Your Church. Lord please protect all of Yours against false shepherds and fill us with the Grace to withstand the ugliness of the world!

In Jesus name, we pray!

Rep Luis Gutierrez sold his vote for illegal amnesty to be done right away. Laura Ingrahm said, “Are you a Catholic?”

“Yes”

“Then how do you feel that the bishops came out and said no Catholic can support this bill with abortion language?” (paraphrasing)

“My church is very important to me but I also took a oath to support the Constitution and it says separation of Church and state.”

We have Illinois rep wanting his people to become American citizens (who will have to know the Constitution) and he has no clue that is not part of the Constitution.

Lindsey Graham who worked on the bill said if dems pass with demon pass, there will be no amnesty this year.

Amen. If you need help -please ask. Obama and his commie pals do not understand basic economics. Land, labor, capitol. When they increase the cost of labor by forcing healthcare on the employer- the cost of labor just rose.

Just think for a minute how much more it costs to cover a preexisting condition or if it is even wise?

The wise cattlemen who has 5,000 cattle fenced in and when a gate was opened one got out- he damn sure did not leave the gate open while chasing after that one escapee to save it. Just like diseases, he shut the fence to protect the other 4,999. Socialists do not understand it. You protect what you can without losing the farm/ranch.

If you have damage on your car already from a prior accident does the new insurance company/policy owe you?

Why, hell no. This is what progressives cannot understand. Sad to say. Now who wants to insure a 300 pound 5 foot 4 inch person for major medical without charging them more then a person of normal weight?

This is how darn stupid these I am owed people think we taxpayers are.

Thank you! Mother Teresa probably typed that at 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning, as her days were jam packed with caring for the poor. (I've heard she only slept 4 hours a night.) It's a great picture in my mind's eye, visualizing her typing that out. It surely *is* a treasure!

THE CHURCH being lukewarm is the reason why this country is on the edge.

Pro-Abortion Obama would never have been elected if the church pulpits were on fire with the Word of God.
