The Shroud of Turin is displayed during the first day of its exhibition in the Cathedral of Turin April 10, 2010. Pope Benedict XVI will be in Turin to pay homage to the Shroud on May 2. The Shroud was put on display on Saturday for public viewing for the first time in ten years.
Cardinal Severino Poletto, center, leads a Mass on the opening day of the public display of the Shroud of Turin, seen in the background, inside Turin's Cathedral, Italy, Saturday, April 10, 2010. The Shroud of Turin went on public display Saturday for the first time in 10 years, drawing long lines of people to see the linen some hold to be Christ's burial cloth and others dismiss as a medieval fake. Turin Cardinal Poletto led the opening ceremony in Turin's cathedral. He referred to the debate over the shroud's authenticity, saying it was 'not up to the church but for science to decide.''

A soldier in full dress stands guard next to the Shroud of Turin for the first time on public display in ten years in the Cathedral of Turin. The city of Turin has rolled out the red carpet as the Shroud of Turin, believed by many to be the burial cloth of Jesus Christ, went on public display for the first time in a decade.
Ping!

Carbon dating in 1988 claimed the image of the man could not be that of Jesus because the shroud was medieval. But many have rejected that result and want further scientific tests to be carried out.How many times have I seen statements like this in which the writer doesn't bother to mention why the carbon 14 testing was bogus? There's always the underlying implication that the "rejectors" are just religious fanatics who ignore science.

We’re all sick of it but ... no one can attest beyond a shadow of a doubt that the shroud is authentic. Until then, we will have to wince at the news coverage.

"...no one can attest beyond a shadow of a doubt that the shroud is authentic."I dunno. I know a fair amount about it....and I have no doubt about its authenticity whatsoever.

From the exhibit ...
Like you, I can only imagine the great joy and exhilaration of being within such close proximity of the shroud.

As do many who believe in UFOs. The only thing missing is proof (just saying).

UFO’s (your example) aren’t about “belief”. It is a fact that there are “unidentified flying objects”. What is not yet known is exactly what they are and from where they come. So I suppose you are saying that either people believe they have extraterrestrial origins or terrestrial origins.
Not at all the same discussion, but.....ok.

This is the first I've seen this - Just overwhelming.
I’m a portrait artist and have, over the decades, done many drawings/paintings of my ‘versions’ if you will, of Our Lord.
Do you have a link to the site you got this photo from?
Did you catch the recent - last week) History Channel program on the Shroud and the scientist who, using the 3-D ‘information ‘ from the Shroud, created a full bust of Jesus? Amazing - and reassuring - looks like we've always “known.” Just warms your heart and gives such hope and assurance.

Doesnt look any where near 4 meters long... Let me guess - you've never studied perspective...
