Well again. The Bible can stand alone. The Book of Mormon needs the Bible to back it up. We don’t need the Book of Mormon to prove the Bible. Since there are three different accounts of how Joseph Smith,Jr. translated/wrote the Book of Mormon, which account is accurate?

I’m increasingly sick of seeing Mormon false doctrine on FR via repeated posts by ParagonDefender. Add my voice to those who wish to see active anti-Christian, cult proselytizing shown the door on this site.

Actually we need PD. He’s providing an inspiration to those who want to challenge him and Mormonism. He’s a great read and the intellectual discussions provide others with some insight on how they (Mormons) think. Plus it shows that we’re not anti-Mormon because we disagree; we’re anti-Mormon theology.

I like the story and pictures of old Joe running with the gold tablets. He must have been one rugged son of a gun.

The Mormons believe that God (or was it Moroni) provided a miracle so he could run with an 800lb. load on his back.

I don’t pay all that much attention to them. It’s just silliness. Besides, they can’t answer Jesus’ question to Peter (”Who do YOU say I am?) without blowing their whole story.

The LDS claim that God chose Joseph Smith to reestablish the Church of Jesus Christ after it had disappeared some 1,700 years earlier following the death of the first apostles. Mormon’s believe that the Church Christ founded somehow needed a restoration. This is why the basic premise of Mormonism cannot be true, unless Christ is a liar. Let’s look at Scripture:

“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Mat 6:18

Here Christ says his Church will not be destroyed.

“I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” John 16:12-13

“But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.” 1Tim 3:15

Here Christ says, and Paul reaffirms, that the Church will always teach the TRUTH.

Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Mat 28:18-20

Again, here Jesus assures us that He is always with us, to the very end.

So Christ says His Church will not be destroyed or fall away from him, that the Holy Spirit will guide the Church to always teach the Truth, and He will always be with us.

The only reason for a ‘restoration’ is that Christ lied.

Nice scriptures! Thanks! We use all of those as well. Seems we might disagree on what it all means though eh? Perhaps that is part of the reason there are so many denominations eh?

Christ didn’t lie at all. You merely misinterpret what was said. It’s ok. It’s not an insult or anything.

With all religions, the 2 main questions that trip up their beliefs are:
1) How do you atone for the sin that separates you from God (Romans 3:23, 6:23, Eph. 2:8,9, etc)

2) Do you believe Jesus Christ to be part of the GODHEAD?

You cannot answer ? 2 with a NO without blowing the whole answer to 1 Philippians 2:5-10

I worked for a Mormon Bishop once many years ago and they would not allow their members to see “THE GODMAKERS” a movie documentary made by 2 x-mormons who were kicked out of the mormon church for trying to debate their disagreements. I think you might still find this movie out there (e-bay perhaps) - it tells more about Mormons than the Mormons want you to know.

May I enquire what Real LDS/Mormon means? Is this intended to separate your thread from FLDS threads? Or are there unReal LDS/Mormon threads? Can you elaborate?

“Real” meaning not labeled Mormon but really Anti-Mormon.

An actual Mormon posting a thread that is not anti-Mormon.

In the past folks have gotten confused thinking Mormons were posting a ton of posts when they were actually only posting a few relatively speaking.

That’s all it means.

I am a Christian on FR and found this article insightful & uplifting. It has several wise points to consider for anyone who wants to read them.

Anyone who fought for freedom as this author has, will have viewpoints worth considering. Agree or not, he/she will have my respect. Thanks.
