Author: LDS is 'dangerous religion' [Romney article]
Deseret News ^ | May 31, 2011 | Hal Boyd

Bill Keller infamously announced in 2007, "If you vote for Mitt Romney, you are voting for Satan!"

While expressing less vitriol in his delivery, evangelical author Warren Cole Smith said something similar in his recent article, "A Vote for Romney Is a Vote for the LDS Church."

Smith wrote, "I believe a candidate who either by intent or effect promotes a false and dangerous religion is unfit to serve. … A Romney presidency would have the effect of actively promoting a false religion in the world. If you have any regard for the Gospel of Christ, you should care. A false religion should not prosper with the support of Christians. The salvation of souls is at stake."

Mormon scholar and author Joanna Brooks spoke with Smith about his views regarding Mormonism. In the interview posted on religiondispatches.org, Brooks said: "I can understand from an evangelical perspective why you view our religion as 'false.' But why do you think we are 'dangerous?'"

Smith replied, "Let me ask you: is anything that is false not dangerous? Anything false is dangerous. Falsehood leads to danger."

Brooks countered by asking if other faiths he considered theologically "false" like Judaism and Catholicism are also dangerous. Smith said that those faiths are both different from Mormonism.

Ok, as you have stated yes. There are political figures and sports figures, so I guess they are about specific mormons. If you view using lds owned sites or general papers who comment on morons as hate there is nothing I can do for you. If you actually read the comments the broader statements are about mormonISM not individuals.

Really! Is there a place online where I can find that? Isn’t Glenn Beck mormon? I am not being cute...I really want to know. Glenn Beck is almost single handedly waking people up and attempting to deepen their relation with God, even if they are of a different religion. So I don’t know. Why are you focusing on them when Islam is attempting to take over America. I just don’t get it.

Luke 12:4-5
“I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do. 5 But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. [1] Yes, I tell you, fear him!

You only answer to God for your decisions. Eternity is a long time to have to sweep floors.

JESUS: Hey Smith!       Remember that boast you made about doing more than even I had done to hold the 'church' together?

JOSEPH SMITH: Where am I?

JESUS: Don't you remember? A few seconds ago you were in that jail.

JOSEPH SMITH: Oh; yeah; but where am I NOW?

JESUS: Don't you remember? Does bang - bang ring a bell?

JOSEPH SMITH: Oh; yeah - that crummy gun I had was about USELESS!

JESUS: I hope you left instructions on how to hold your church together.

JOSEPH SMITH: Dang! I knew there was SOMETHING I was forgetting!

JESUS: Looks like there's a power struggle going on down there.

JOSEPH SMITH: Yeah; there was always SOMEone who wanted the power that I held - especially over the LADIES - wink wink.

JESUS: No need to worry about that now; remember what my friend Matthew wrote down?

JOSEPH SMITH: This? “At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven” (Matthew 22:30)

JESUS: That's it.

JOSEPH SMITH: I thought that was mistranslated.

JESUS: Nah - it was right.

JOSEPH SMITH: Oh well; it was fun while it lasted. My buds will still get it on with the girls.

JESUS: Uh; I'm sorry; in just a few more years; your followers will cavein to the United States government and abandon the 'Eternal Covenant' that you came up with.

JOSEPH SMITH: ME!? YOU are the one that told me to do that!

JESUS: Sorry; but you must have mistranslated what I told you. What part of Do NOT commit ADULTERY did you not understand?

JOSEPH SMITH: mumble....

JESUS: What did you say?

JOSEPH SMITH: Oh, nothing.

JESUS: Well; it was interesting talking to you; but now I must get back to perparing a place for those who believe in Me.

JOSEPH SMITH: Oh, yeah; the Celestial Kingdom.

JESUS: No...

JOSEPH SMITH: The Telestial one?

JESUS: Nope.

JOSEPH SMITH: SUREly not the TERRESTRIAL one!!

JESUS: Nope. Didn't you read that the mind of man had NOT conceived of it? Paul wrote it down in 1 Corinthians 2:9.

JOSEPH SMITH: I thought that was mistranslated.

JESUS: No; it wasn't.

JOSEPH SMITH: You SURE?

JESUS: Yes. Now I must be going: what did you say your name was again?

JOSEPH SMITH: Joseph Smith.

JESUS: Hmmmm. According to my Heavenly FAITHbook, you didn't sign in as one of my friends - sorry, I never knew you.

JOSEPH SMITH: But....

We KNOW the threat that ISLAM is; and 'we' do not have to 'focus' on them.

Most NO ONE understands the fact that MORMONism wants to TAKE OVER THE WORLD and are an ETERNAL danger; not just in this world.

The MORMONs want your soul SO badly, that even after you are DEAD, they come for you!

(Kinda a reverse ZOMBIEism!)

I am not familiar with Bill Keller. Is his platform that a Mormon should not hold office, or that any non-Christian should not hold office? For example, what about an Orthodox Jew or an individual of no faith?

Well, I looked at the latest stuff Keller was putting out.

Keller apparently looks @ "percentages" of consistency. (Obviously few candidates are 100% consistent with your faith beliefs). But when a candidate is 100% inconsistent, then the alarm bells should be going off.

Here's the way the Mormon-church owned Deseret News recently highlighted a Keller press release:

Keller's press release says he "takes the evangelical position that Mormon doctrine is 100 percent inconsistent with Biblical Christianity and that a Mormon is no more a Christian than a Muslim is."
Source: Glenn Beck, Mormonism attacked by Bill Keller, minister who targeted Mitt Romney

So Keller compares Mormonism to Islam.

In one sense I do, too. Look at all the similarities between Islam and Mormonism: Islamic And Mormonism Similarities: Similarities Between Joseph Smith and Muhammad

The one area that Mormonism is VASTLY different from both Islam and Judaism is that both of the latter religions are fiercely solo God only...whereasm Mormonism has a pantheon of gods...Heavenly Father, Jesus, Holy Ghost, the mom god or gods, the head of the council of gods who appointed a man as god of this world, the council of gods, Heavenly father's father-god, his grandfather-god, and then all of the temple married Mormons becoming gods.

As far as voting for a Jewish candidate, we know that a good possibility exists that he might call upon the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob...vs. the Mormon who would call upon a low-level god..

Question #1 at hand: Is it important to have a POTUS whose God is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob? Principle #1 that addresses this: THE 'BATPHONE' PRINCIPLE DURING A JACK BAUER-TYPE OF '24' CRISIS [LET'S HAVE A 'COMMISSIONER GORDON' WHO ACTUALLY HAS A 'BATPHONE' DIRECT LINE TO THE GOD OF THIS WORLD IN THE MIDST OF CRISES SITUATIONS!]

Extended explanation: Principle #1: THE 'BATPHONE' PRINCIPLE DURING A JACK BAUER-TYPE OF '24' CRISIS [LET'S HAVE A 'COMMISSIONER GORDON' WHO ACTUALLY HAS A 'BATPHONE' DIRECT LINE TO THE GOD OF THIS WORLD IN THE MIDST OF CRISES SITUATIONS!]

Say what? Obviously God hears the prayers of all people. But we know from reading the Bible that God seemingly responds more favorably to those He is in an actual relationship with...versus examples like Pharisaical religious legalists whom Jesus said were of their father, the devil (John 8).

Many, including Mormon leaders, claim that if we start considering the faith of a candidate, that it might "weaken the foundation" of our country.

You mean religionists might actually prefer having a POTUS in the White House who actually knows the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob? Why, how shocking!

Do we mean that if the Living God was called upon during a Jack Bauer-like crisis by a POTUS who actually is in a vital relationship with Him...that is problematic? What?

To hear some tell it, such a candidate would NEVER be preferred over voting for an atheist candidate on faith grounds!

Which in turn, would supposedly "weaken the religious foundation" of our country?

How does that make any sense?

You can post all the nonsense you want. I know that Mormons are just like every other group of people. There’s some good and there’s some bad. I have happened to work with different Mormons that are more righteous and upstanding than you and your bobbsey twin Mormon hating companions, even. Again, just because I am not compatible with their dogma does not mean they are evil, just misguided in their religious practice, IN MY VIEW, as a Christian. Which just means that’s my opinion. Just like your opinion, just means it’s your opinion.

ROTFL....linked articles showing Utah statistics are "nonsense"?.....your agenda is showing!

Your opinion seems to be that our posting of mormon doctrine, dogma, and quotes from leaders is a personal attack on individual mormons...while YOUR posts DO consist of personal attacks on individual FReepers. You're in over your head here.

Which just means that’s my opinion.

First of all, the issue -- which you badly misstated for someone who claims Biblical beliefs -- isn't who can "best" who in claims to self-produced righteousness. If that was the case, we'd all come in way behind the outward righteousness of the Pharisees. And since the Pharisees were likely "besting" both today's Mormons and Christians -- at least based upon outward behavior alone, then hey, we'd ALL be a heap of trouble before God! (That's troublesome because note how badly Jesus critiqued the inward nature of the Pharisees -- calling them "whitewashed tombstones.")

Even though Jesus heavily critiqued the legalists of his day (and Mormons, BTW, are the legalists of our day), Jesus also highly complimented the outward behavior of the Pharisees. So much so that He said:

For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven. (Matt. 5:20)

Jesus was saying that both our inward AND outward righteousness needed to exceed the Pharisees. If you don't know the basic Christian gospel, no matter what you claim to be, you're in spiritual jeopardy.

If you think the way to approach God is through the Law -- how He measures OUR puny righteousness in fulfilling His Law -- you will be judged on that basis.

There's no way I want to be judged upon MY puny righteousness. I'll come up way short. And so will you, so will Greyfoxx, and so will the Mormons -- even the best of the ones you know.

That's why God approaches us in grace -- the cross...forgiveness...He doesn't approach us with the Law to get us to heaven. If it was only the Law, we all fall short of the glory of God...as Romans 6:23 and 3:23 points out.

Therefore the only righteousness God accepts is His Son's perfect righteousness -- imputed to us as a substitute. The apostle Paul made that clear when He said:

30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who HAS BECOME FOR US wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. (1 Cor. 1:30)

So who's righteousness are you going to trust in? The personal righteousness each person puts forth? Or Jesus' perfect righteousness which covers our sins and allows God's holiness and justice to be exacted on the cross?

(Even whatever personal righteousness we put forth as Christians can only be credited to the Holy Spirit enacting His fruit within us...see Galatians 5 for that one)

Unfortunately for you all, my posts have all come out of the scriptures not off somebody’s website like yours. And no, I spoke to every one of you collectively right on the comments page, I did not attack you individually.

The gansta bobbsey twin Mormon haters threw a hissy fit when I said I had more things to disagree with Mitt Romney than reading a couple of books. He is running for president, not pastorship. They snarked and sniped for two days because I wouldn’t demogogue somebody the way THEY wanted me to gang up with them and do. You see I don’t run in herd mentality like liberals, or some conservative extremists. And NO, I am not a moderate conservative.

So why don’t you people just enjoy your hate the Mormons demogoguery and be happy in it. I’m not ever going to agree with your pack mentality.
