Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
(1 Thessalonians 5:24)
TOPICS: Prayer
KEYWORDS: heroes; nation; pray
Our God, You say to us in Your Word, "I even I, am He who comforts you". Thank You, Lord! Help us to sense and respond to Your comfort. Lord, You offer to rescue those who love You and protect those who acknowledge Your name. Help our American Heroes to call upon You, and then You will answer them; You will be with them in trouble, You will deliver them and honor them. Lord, we ask You to satisfy Your children in our Nation with long life and show us Your salvation. Heal us, and we will be healed; save us and we will be saved, for You are the One we praise. How we celebrate the fact that You have not run away from being our shepherd; You have not desired the day of despair.
Father God, Your Word exhorts us to sow for ourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up our unplowed ground; for it is time to seek You, Lord, until You come to shower righteousness on us! For our Maker is our husband--the Lord Almighty is Your name--the Holy One of Israel is our Redeemer; You are called the God of all the earth. You will call us back as if we were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit--a wife who married young, only to be rejected. With deep compassion You will bring Your children in this Nation back. You may chasten us, but with everlasting kindness You will have compassion on us. Amen.

Almighty and Eternal God, . Protect our military as
they discharge their duties. Protect them with the shield
of your strength and keep them safe from all evil and
harm.
May the power of your love enable them to return home
safely to the people who love them and to the gratitude
of the American people..
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
May God Guide Our Nation

Always On Duty
December 20, 2011
As my kids were discarding their trash at the local mall food court, my oldest son was almost run into by a man who was clearly on a mission. My younger son jokingly remarked, Maybe he stole something. Thinking I might be able to use this as a teachable moment, I said, Thats what the Bible calls judging. He then asked with a smile: Why are you always pastoring me? After I finished laughing, I told my sons that I could never take a vacation from shepherding them.
The apostle Paul told the Ephesian elders that they too could never take a vacation from shepherding Gods people (Acts 20). He was convinced that false teachers would try to ravage the church (v.29), and the elders needed to protect the group from them. Caring for Gods people includes feeding them spiritually, leading them gently, and warning them firmly. Leaders in the church are to be motivated by the incalculable price Christ paid on the cross (v.28).
Church leaders have a big responsibility to watch over our souls, for one day they will give an account to the Lord for their work among us. Lets bring them joy now by responding to their faithful, godly leadership with obedience and submission (Heb. 13:17).
We join our hearts and hands together

We hold each other to Gods standards
All that truth and love demand. D. De Haan
After we hear the Word of God,
we should then take up the work of God.
Read: Acts 20:22-32
Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account.
