How Often Does God Talk to You?
That Christian Website ^ | 01/24/2012 | Travis Main

Prayer stands as a key component of a Christian’s life. When a Christian prays they share their gratefulness, reverence, thoughts, concerns, and needs with the Eternal Father. Even non-Christians talk to God at times in their lives. However, prayer represents only one side of communication with God. Men need to let God talk. Unfortunately, the wide majority of the world refuses to give God the opportunity. If they would let Him talk, they would be much better equipped for the lives that they have been given.

Those who give God the chance to talk to them learn:

Christians to whom God talks demonstrate a far better understanding of their life purpose than others. How can a person know for certain if God has talked to them? Is it an emotion or feeling? Will they see visions or dreams? No. God talks to man only in one way today. He talks to man when they listen to His Word, the Bible. The best way of letting God talk is picking up the Bible and reading. How often does God talk to you? Do you schedule time each day for him to talk? If you haven’t taken the time before, no better time exists to start than today. He wants to talk to you soon and often! Let him share with you the knowledge which pertains to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3-4).

As a side note, consider Mormon's believe in modern day revelation. What happens if Romney gets elected and believes he is supposed to hit the lil red button?

God talks to me every day.

Sometimes He laughs about folks who presume to know His motives.

I’ve forwarded this thread to Him.

“What happens if Romney gets elected and believes he is supposed to hit the lil red button?”

After an enemy reprisal takes him out, he gets to play god over his own planet?

How often does God talk to me, or how often do I listen to Him? I hope they both have the same answer, but some days I wonder if I could do better.

How Often Does God Talk to You?

Constantly.

A better question is: Am I listening?

When isn't God talking to every one of us?

Listening... now that's another subject.

If you want to hear God laugh, tell him you plans for the future.

I would be seriously surprised if God talked to me. Which is why I don’t pray for myself. I think it is fine for people to request prayers and I do pray for them, and my family. Sometimes I pray for the USA or Germany or the world. Maybe in that way I pray for myself but I don’t specifically pray for myself because I am such a tiny being compared to God, it would be somewhat rude. But I believe I am significant enough to fit into God’s plan and that is good enough for me!

How often - always.
How often do I listen - note enough.

Bingo.

How much of His speaking do we miss. One of my favorite passages of scripture is: I Kings 19, in this case focused on vss 11-13.

We might miss Him because he was speaking to us in an unexpected way: through a gentle whisper, a turn of events, an inner spritual nudge, failure, a friend, disappointment . . . and the list goes on and on. As you said, are we listening . . . and are we watching?

I don’t know how often God talks to me. I don’t think it’s daily. I know that when times are bad, to cheer me up,He sends a creature to cheer me up! I love all sorts of creatures so when I see or hear one, I consider it a blessing from God. I guess that’s when He speaks to me.

All I know right now is, God has answered my prayer this month. It was so unexpected. It took Him 13 years and 4 earthly months to set up everything.

I feel so blessed that I ask those near me to pinch me.

INDEED!

AS I COR 12-14 make clear . . . and as

CHRIST HIMSELF

made clear in His own words when He declared:

MY SHEEP KNOW MY *VOICE*

Exactly, Quix, and to those who reject His gift of salvation and choose to remain an enmity with Him, Scripture is foolishness and completely impossible to understand. And to those who choose to reject Jesus, those who know Him as Savior and have a personal relationship with Him and will spend our eternity with Him are seen as subjects of ridicule.

For now. Or, to be more specific, until the day when every man and woman will stand before Christ and the books will be opened and every person will get to live the consequences of their decisions about Jesus Christ.

Thank you for the ping.

the problem that most of us face is that we rufuse to accept that sometimes the answer from God is NO. Many people, unfortunately, fall away from God because He did not answer their prayers as they thought He might. If your child has a terminal disease and you pray for his recovery, God might reluctantly have to answer no. That can be a terrible challenge to your faith....but it is, of course, reality.

God doesn’t talk to me anymore.

sure He does. Try harder to hear Him, turn off the TV and other distractions, concentrate on what He might be saying rather than what you want Him to say. Once in a while He will say "no" but that doesn't mean that He hasn't answered your prayer.

He sometimes says a word or two, but usually laughs at an argument I am having with some voice in my heard...especially when I quote scripture to a crappy through....:O)

Thanks for the ping Quix!

The real question isn't if God speaks to us or even what He's saying to us, as that's clearly given to us in His Word, it's if we're listening and, more importantly, willing to obey His Word and make Him Lord of our life completely.
