Inventing Muhammad? (Which of the many accounts of the Prophet Muhammad's life is true?)
American Thinker ^ | 04/23/2012 | By Robert Spencer

Posted on 04/23/2012 4:17:11 PM PDT by SeekAndFind

Why would it matter if Muhammad never existed? Certainly the accepted story of Islam's origins is taken for granted as historically accurate; while many don't accept Muhammad's claim to have been a prophet, few doubt that there was a man named Muhammad who in the early seventh century began to claim that he was receiving messages from Allah through the angel Gabriel.

Many who hear about my new book "Did Muhammad Exist? An Inquiry Into Islam's Obscure Origins" ask why it would matter whether or not Muhammad existed -- after all, a billion Muslims believe he did, and they are not going to stop doing so because of some historical investigations. Yet the numerous indications that the standard account of Muhammad's life is more legend than fact actually have considerable implications for the contemporary political scene.

These are just a few of the weaknesses in the traditional account of Muhammad's life and the early days of Islam:

* No record of Muhammad's reported death in 632 appears until more than a century after that date.

* The early accounts written by the people the Arabs conquered never mention Islam, Muhammad, or the Qur'an.

* They call the conquerors "Ishmaelites," "Saracens," "Muhajirun," and "Hagarians," but never "Muslims."

* The Arab conquerors, in their coins and inscriptions, don't mention Islam or the Qur'an for the first six decades of their conquests. Mentions of "Muhammad" are non-specific and on at least two occasions are accompanied by a cross. The word can be used not only as a proper name, but also as an honorific.

* The Qur'an, even by the canonical Muslim account, was not distributed in its present form until the 650s.

I've silenced a few lib friends with this:

This is one of those not so easily dismissed "peer reviewed studies" that exposes the mussie's horrific treatment of women. Phyllis Chesler is a former Femi-Nazi who was married to a mussie, lived in his native land and managed to escape. Let's just say that the experience helped get her mind right. She has written extensively on David Horowitz's sites.

Thank you LUV W.

I will ping more Freepers here in hopes they will help us spread the truth. My post #13 is an action report since my sweetheart and I were there. And like I said, we saw it all.

Please note what is posted on all the liberal sites as it will more than likely not be the truth. The truth does not fit in their agenda.

Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer are warriors of the truth. God Bless them for being on the front lines like our hero, Andrew Breitbart.

Pam Geller is the best, she not only talks the talk but walks the walk as well.

To continue to equate Islam as a religion on the same level as Catholicism,Judaism or Protestantism is crazy. Islam and those believing in sharia law are noting more than brainwashed pawns.

Thanks seekthetruth.

Looks like the Lycurgus Effect -- Lycurgus probably never existed, and was (at least in large part) concocted after the fact in the ancient fascist city-state of Sparta.

But there are plenty of biographical details about the big 'Mo -- he murdered the Jews of Arabia, he was a pedophile and plagiarist -- that suggest an actual cult leader. That the cult didn't become stylized and have a fixed canon isn't unlike other mass movements.

To all -- please ping me to other topics which are appropriate for the GGG list.

Oh, boy!!!

The search for the “historical Muhammed” is on.

Good luck to them in debunking this lie of Satan, and may God keep them safe from his retribution.

You know, I don’t buy into the “Obama is the anti-Christ” thingee.

But wouldn’t you agree that he is doing his best to channel him?

You are welcome! Noticed your tag line and it is so very true!

Pinging more Freepers here.

We must all fight on in any way we can to bring the truth to those who will listen. The enemy among us is real, and I believe the support the enemy receives from this Administration will continue.

We must make November 6th the day we save America!

Obama is not the Anti-Christ but he is the Anti-Colonial President. I am reading Dinesh D’Souza’s book “The Roots of Obama’s Rage (finally!) and it is a true eye opener. You can interpret Obama’s words and speech with a clear vision of what is motivating him. Highly recommended. Obama is a very dangerous man and the reason the founders called for a Natural Born Citizen to be President, to avoid divided loyalties. Obama channels his father even though he never really knew him. Freighting.

Why else would the muslims embrace those stories?

In order to justify their own lives as they were living them, perhaps? Why do modern activist homosexuals in a Christian milieu get so vehement in their denial of certain passages in the Bible, or of the bible or Christianity as a whole?

When I look at Islam and how that religion advanced through history I see exactly what L Ron Hubbard was trying to do with Scientology.

There is not a doubt in my mind that both Mohammad and Hubbard were attempting the exact same thing, building a cult around themselves for money, power and influence. What guy back in the 7th century didn’t want what he had? Women to be used and abused at any time a man wanted, guilt free murder of anyone who didn’t believe what you did, etc.

Same thing that Hubbard was after now. Idiots paying his “church” (and himself) mega millions with a cult like following, slowly letting it snowball into the mainstream as an alternative to established religions.

Nothing would have made that man happier than knowing when he died that in a thousand years people would still be speaking of him as a prophet and hoping that Cthulhu remains in his volcano.
