Pro-Homosexual Reverend Loses Congregation

There is a price to be paid by reverends who turn their backs on both scripture and their own congregations:

The reverend of a St. Paul church says he needs to raise $200,000 to pay off a church loan after most of his followers left because of his support for gay marriage.

The Rev. Oliver White runs Grace Community United Church of Christ in St. Paul. The 69-year-old said he needs to raise the money by June 30.

“We lost our income when we lost a number of people from our congregation.” White said.

White said two-thirds of his followers left after he said he supported same-sex marriage, and said he was against the marriage amendment that will be up for a vote in November.

There are churches where you can openly come out against the Bible but evidently Grace Community isn’t one of them.

I think it would be all good if he makes it an Methodist church

So where is the gay population? Aren’t they going to support this preacher? Or is the true intention to simply destroy the church?

The "reverend" white has learned a valuable lesson.

Pay off the loan BEFORE you spit in your congregations faces.

Sounds like religious liberty and free markets in action. This clergyman is free to preach what he wants. The congregants are free to go to another church that is actually faithful to God’s inerrant scripture.

Although he’ll probably play the victim, there is no “right” to have people show up and pay your bills.

If the Preacher thought more of his Church and less of his fag friends he would resign, invite the parisioners back and let them pay off the mortgage with an actual Christian preacher.

If the bank was smart they might suggest it , asn I don’t think a Foreclosed Church is a very good marketable object.

Churches and denominations that pander to gain numbers in their congregation fail. That is true for the ELCA as it is for individual pastors that stray from the course.

There are Biblical/scriptural references regard the topic of false religions and churches, but who cares about what the Bible says. lol

Ironically, it's those Bible thumping crazed wacky churches (according to the MSM out of touch with post modern enlightened society with it's pop-culture) that are doing well, i.e. The Southern Baptists, Mormons... etc that holding steady or even increasing in their numbers!

Okay, so the majority, vast majority, of his parishoners left. He didn't know how many disagreed with him? He never had the curiosity to talk to the people about how they felt? Dufus. He deserves to be in this situation, one of his own making.

But he’s a liberal. Therefore, in his mind, he knows “best.” So he can push whatever agenda he wants whether it’s against their will or not. Sounds kind of like the Democrats and Obamacare.

The Rev. Oliver White knew not everyone at his St. Paul church was going to agree with his support for gay marriage. But he never imagined that nearly two-thirds of his congregation would leave.

And now, Grace Community United Church of Christ, the only UCC church in Minnesota with a predominantly black congregation, is in desperate straits. The church has until June 30 to raise $200,000 to pay off a loan, otherwise it likely will be forced to close, White says.

Since the pastor began his campaign earlier this year to save the church, he has received support from dozens of churches, groups and individuals nationwide. As of this week, he's received more than $22,000.

The church began faltering in 2005, when White attended a national United Church of Christ assembly in Atlanta and voted with a majority of delegates in favor of a resolution supporting gay marriage. His vote didn't sit well with most of the 320 or so Grace Community Church members.

"I was really in shock," said White, who's been pastor at the church for 22 years. "I visited one member after another, who told me they weren't coming back because of it. The membership evaporated right before my eyes. Their fundamental belief was it's wrong for a man and a man to marry or a woman and a woman to marry. A lot of them said if I change, they'd come back. But I told them, it is what it is. I am who I am. And this is what I fight for."

Didn’t the NAALCP say that being a homo was OK? Didn’t they try to guilt the black community into supporting sodomy? Let’s hope that they end up like this guy.

He went on to bleat that people who take scripture and morality seriously are “scared of change,”

Ummm, actually I'm scared of God.

Obama and the Democrats are going to be the laughing stock of the nation the day after the November Election.

The amazing thing is ... the "reverend" remains unrepentant.

Let’s see, two thirds against and one third for. Mmmmmmmm, maybe rethink his position .... no, but he’ll happily accept the consequences without any blaming or whining .... right, just like the Food Stamp President, always someone else’s fault.
