Pray for our American Heroes
September 22, 2012 | Irish Rose

You say, “I choose the appointed time;
it is I who judge uprightly.
When the earth and all its people quake,
it is I who hold its pillars firm.
To the arrogant I say, ‘Boast no more,’
and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horns.
Do not lift your horns against heaven;
do not speak with outstretched neck.’ ”
(Psalm 75:2-5)

Dear Father, we thank You for Your invitation to come to You, and we pray in Jesus' Name.

Lord, we thank You for all those who are serving and have served in our military, and we ask You to continue to raise up men and women to defend our nation.

Lord, we pray that You will give Todd Akin victory in his Senate race, and we ask You to encourage him and give him wisdom throughout his campaign.

O LORD, You choose the appointed time, and You judge uprightly. There is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be made known. When the time You set for them comes, You say to the arrogant, “Boast no more,” and to the wicked, “Do not lift up your horns.” It is You, O God, who judges, with justice and mercy and infinite holiness. When the earth and all its people quake, You hold its pillars firm. We look to You – our Sovereign Lord, whose strength bears up the world, and whose justice will come to it at last – and to You we pray, in the Name of Jesus our righteousness, Amen.

PRAYERS GOING UP FOR OUR AMERICAN HEROES AND FOR OUR BELOVED NATION!

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise lie a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

Heavenly Father, Lord of the Nations, unto Your Divine Mercy we commend the souls of these brave men and women who have fallen in the service of our Beloved Nation and in defense of the Freedoms we hold dear. We pray that You gather them in Your loving embrace, that You cause Your countenance to shine upon them, and that You vouchsafe their souls to dwell eternally in Your Divine Presence. Through Jesus Christ Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

My wife and I stood inside the Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial in Luxembourg where General Patton is buried and my tears flooded the cemetery...my God, why have we sacrificed so many thousands upon thousands of our fine young men and women to stamp out evil on this earth? Dump a few hundred nukes on Iran and

I Just Saw Jesus

September 22, 2012

Years ago I lost my job in my chosen profession due to circumstances beyond my control. So I took on two lesser-paying jobs in order to try to make ends meet. Yet it still was very difficult to earn enough to pay my monthly expenses.

Then I reconnected with Joel and Dave, two friends from my past. Joel had become the pastor of a growing church in the suburbs. Dave had become an overseas missionary, but he was visiting in the US at the time. Both of them, recognizing my predicament, gave me money to help pay the rent. I was deeply moved. As I thought of my friends’ actions, I said to myself: “I have just seen Jesus Christ!”

Just as I saw Jesus in my friends, sometimes others can see Him in us. Paul speaks of “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Col. 1:27). He confessed: “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me” (Gal. 2:20). And he also understood that different circumstances can be opportunities for “the life of Jesus [to] be manifested in our body” (2 Cor. 4:10).

Do you know someone struggling with physical or financial burdens? Why not let the indwelling Christ express His love through you by meeting that person’s need.

If I can do some good today,
If I can help in what I say,
If by my deeds Your love convey—
Dear Lord, just show me how. —Brandt
Real love is helping others for Jesus’ sake even if they can never return the favor.

Read: 2 Corinthians 4:1-10

Always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. —2 Corinthians 4:10
