The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.
( Psalm 29:11)

TOPICS: Prayer
KEYWORDS: pray
Praise be to You, our God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In Your great mercy You have given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil, or fade--kept in heaven for us, who through faith is shielded by God's power. Father, Your Word emphatically states that You do not lie. You promised before the beginning of time that faith and knowledge rest on the hope of eternal life. Lord, You are so trustworthy. You have given us eternal life. Please grow us in the faith and knowledge that rests upon it.

Lord God, according to Your Word, You set apart Your children from the nations to be Your own. Your Word tells us to know assuredly that You, the Lord, have set apart the godly for Yourself; You, Lord, will hear when we call to You. Help us, Your children in this Nation, and all our American Heroes to see and believe that You, the Sovereign Lord, come with power, and Your arm rules for You. Your reward is with You, and Your recompense accompanies You. You tend Your flock like a shepherd; You gather the lambs in Your arms and carry them close to Your heart; You gently lead those that have young. O Lord, help us to realize that You love us and care so deeply for us! Thank You Lord, in Jesus name, Amen

PRAYERS GOING UP FOR OUR AMERICAN HEROES AND FOR OUR BELOVED NATION!

GEN. GEORGE WASHINGTON
THE PRAYER AT VALLEY FORGE

"Let Tyrants Shake Their Iron Rod"

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise lie a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

Heavenly Father, Lord of the Nations, unto Your Divine Mercy we commend the souls of these brave men and women who have fallen in the service of our Beloved Nation and in defense of the Freedoms we hold dear. We pray that You gather them in Your loving embrace, that You cause Your countenance to shine upon them, and that You vouchsafe their souls to dwell eternally in Your Divine Presence. Through Jesus Christ Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Love We Can Trust

October 23, 2012

Perhaps the most painful statement a person can hear is, “I don’t love you anymore.” Those words end relationships, break hearts, and shatter dreams. Often, people who have been betrayed guard themselves against future pain by deciding not to trust anyone’s love again. That settled conviction may even include the love of God.

The remarkable thing about God’s love for us is His promise that it will never end. The prophet Jeremiah experienced devastating circumstances that left him emotionally depleted (Lam. 3:13-20). His own people rejected his repeated calls to respond to God’s love and follow Him. At a low point, Jeremiah said, “My strength and my hope have perished from the Lord” (v.18).

Yet, in his darkest hour Jeremiah considered God’s unfailing love and wrote, “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. ‘The Lord is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘therefore I hope in Him!’” (Lam. 3:22-24). A person may vow to love us forever yet fail to keep that promise, but God’s love remains steadfast and sure. “He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you” (Deut. 31:6). That’s a love we can trust.

O Love that wilt not let me go
I rest my weary soul in Thee;
I give Thee back the life I owe,
That in Thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be. —Matheson
God’s love never fails.
