Pray for our American Heroes and Nation

TOPICS: Prayer
KEYWORDS: military; pray; prayer
He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God? (Micah 6:8)

Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God. (3 John 1:10-12)

And Jesus said unto him, Why call me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. (Mark 10:18)

The LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. (Ps. 145:9)

Heavenly Father, there is none good but You. We are grateful for Your goodness. We lean on and trust in Your goodness each minute of each day. Help us to be faithful so that You can depend on Your goodness functioning through us each day.

We are here today to pray for our American military. We ask You for their success and victory. Give wisdom to our leaders—especially our Commander in Chief. We do not want incorrect decisions to unnecessarily place them in harm’s way. Let each move they make be like David’s stone—guided by You to cause exactly the correct result.

No Nation deserves Your favor based on works. We have all come short of Your glory, but goodness and favor come from You apart from our works based on our faith in the shed blood of Jesus. You have given us this faith and so we come boldly to ask You for success. We also lay hold of Your promise to pour out of Your Spirit on all flesh. Your Word does not give exceptions. Show the United States Your mercy by changing individuals through an encounter with Your Spirit. Thank You for laborers, for the Word which is sharper than a two-edged sword and for multitudes coming into Your Kingdom. How we need and want You, dear God.

Your children worship You and depend on Your Spirit to help us to do the right things at the right time, to love mercy and to walk humbly with You. Thank You in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Opened Ears

December 18, 2012

Recently I was having trouble with my ears and decided to try a somewhat controversial treatment. It was supposed to melt the wax in my ears and clear out any impediments that might get in the way of the ability to hear. I have to admit that it sounded like a strange experience. But I was desperate to be able to hear clearly, so I was willing to give it a try.

As important as good hearing is in life, it is even more important in our walk with God. In Psalm 40:6, David declared, “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire; my ears You have opened. Burnt offering and sin offering You did not require.” The word opened in this verse can be translated “cleared out,” and it speaks of what God desires for us. He wants our ears to be open and ready to hear Him as He speaks to us through His Word. Sometimes, however, our spiritual ears may be blocked by the background noise of the surrounding culture or the siren songs of temptation and sin.

May we instead turn our hearts to the Lord in full devotion, keeping our ears open to Him so that we will be sensitive to His voice. As He speaks, He will put His Word in our hearts, and we will learn from Him to delight in His will (v.8).

Open my ears, that I may hear
Voices of truth Thou sendest clear;
And while the wave-notes fall on my ear,
Everything false will disappear. —Scott
God speaks through His Word
to those who listen with their heart.

Sacrifice and offering You did not desire; my ears You have opened. Burnt offering and sin offering You did not require. —Psalm 40:6

Amen

Heavenly Father,
Give a bold spirit to Your faithful remnant and fill them with Your Spirit to work out Your plan for our nation.
May You make Yourself very real to our leaders so that we may know that there is a God in Heaven that over-rules all and works out His plan for His universe.
Keep those who serve to protect us in Your tender care.
In Jesus Name,
Amen

Oh Come Let Us Adore Him

Almighty and Eternal God, . Protect our military as
they discharge their duties. Protect them with the shield
of your strength and keep them safe from all evil and

May the power of your love enable them to return home
safely to the people who love them and to the gratitude
of the American people..
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR OUR AMERICAN HEROES AND FOR OUR BELOVED NATION!

GEN. GEORGE WASHINGTON
THE PRAYER AT VALLEY FORGE

"Let Tyrants Shake Their Iron Rod"

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise lie a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

Heavenly Father, Lord of the Nations, unto Your Divine Mercy we commend the souls of these brave men and women who have fallen in the service of our Beloved Nation and in defense of the Freedoms we hold dear. We pray that You gather them in Your loving embrace, that You cause Your countenance to shine upon them, and that You vouchsafe their souls to dwell eternally in Your Divine Presence. Through Jesus Christ Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,...making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel...being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart...you all are partakers with me of grace. (Phil. 1)

THANK YOU for praying with me yesterday.
