Pray For Our American Heroes and Our Nation



34 At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven,
and my sanity was restored.
Then I praised the Most High;
I honored and glorified him who lives forever.

His dominion is an eternal dominion;
his kingdom endures from generation to generation.

35 All the peoples of the earth
are regarded as nothing.
He does as he pleases
with the powers of heaven
and the peoples of the earth.
No one can hold back his hand
or say to him: “What have you done?”

36 At the same time that my sanity was restored,
my honor and splendor were returned to me for the glory of my kingdom.
My advisers and nobles sought me out,
and I was restored to my throne and became even greater than before.

37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven,
because everything he does is right and all his ways are just.
And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.

Heavenly Father –

We are grateful for Your faithfulness and Your everlasting love. You have demonstrated in countless ways that You are rich in mercy as well as longsuffering and patient toward us - not desiring that we perish, but repent and turn to You.

Throughout the ages, You have put Your man or woman in a position to minister to the rulers of the great kingdoms of the world. By Your Providence, Joseph and Moses gave Your Word to the Pharaohs of Egypt; Esther to the King of Persia; Daniel to Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon. And You have blessed those rulers who listened to Your people – such as Joseph, Esther, and Daniel. And when the Pharaoh failed to heed Your Word through Moses, You judged the gods of Egypt and showed Your power so that Your Name is still being proclaimed in all the earth.

Today, Nebuchadnezzar bears witness to Your marvelous grace as You raised up Daniel to witness to this king, who knew nothing of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Yet, this proud, arrogant, mad King of Babylon eventually came to know that You alone are the King of Heaven and that the kingdoms and people on the earth are regarded as nothing. And this king put his faith in You and praised You for Who You are.

With this confidence, we lift up our leaders in our government and the military. We pray that You make Yourself very real to them as they all are ultimately accountable to You. We, the People, have created overwhelming problems with no easy solutions – if any at all - by disobeying Your righteous principles. May our leaders as well as the people who put them in power not harden our hearts like Pharaoh did to Moses. May we listen to Your voice and follow the example of Nebuchadnezzar, who counseled that Your ways are right and just.

Bring down the proud and exalt the humble. Protect Your servants – all those who go in harm’s way to keep us safe. Use Your servants to hinder and frustrate evil and protect each of us whom You have known before we are born.

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise lie a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

OH FATHER, the first thing I thought of when I read this is our suffering heroes who are dealing with PTSD. Help them know that they are not alone, their sufferings are not a shame…they are an opportunity to LOOK UP for where their help will come…and YOU have the GLORY or restore their hearts, souls, minds and strengths..AMEN. Help them Dear LORD, to be free from all that would devour their PRAISE and the LOVE that is in them. OH FATHER, I pray for our soldiers, for the soldiers in the IDF, that even if they walk through the shadow of fear and death…SURELY GOODNESS and MERCY will follow them. I especially pray this for my own hearts desires: My Jake, and our friend ALEK. So very AMEN.
