Worrying About Finances? Heres A Message From Jesus
Jan 4th, 2013 by Gary Zimak
As the author of a book on anxiety, I do a lot of speaking about the topic. As a result, Ive met many people who are worried about lots of things. Somewhere near the top of the list are those who are struggling financially. Many people dont know how they will pay their rent, buy food or pay their bills. Jesus has a clear message about this matter. It has nothing to do with financial irresponsibility or burying ones head in the sand. Rather, its a reminder that we should place our trust in Gods providence. The road may be bumpy, there could be lots of twists and turns, but the Lord really does understand that we have material needs. Read this passage, over and over if necessary. In the meantime, keep praying and trust
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat [or drink], or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds in the sky; they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are not you more important than they? Can any of you by worrying add a single moment to your life-span? Why are you anxious about clothes? Learn from the way the wild flowers grow. They do not work or spin. But I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was clothed like one of them. If God so clothes the grass of the field, which grows today and is thrown into the oven tomorrow, will he not much more provide for you, you of little faith? So do not worry and say, What are we to eat? or What are we to drink? or What are we to wear? All these things the pagans seek. Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom (of God) and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides. (Matthew 6:25-33)
Please add your own advice.
Ping!
On the practical side of things....pay off your credit cards and pay cash.
Grandma’s worry about grown children and now grand children, so thiese are good verses for me. I have taught them this principal but it is hard seeing them struggling for things they think they need. Thank you for this reminder.
Canned goods, guns, ammo and dried food storage couldn't do any harm.
Very good message: accepting God’s Will! We can trust God, no matter how ridiculous, perilous, or mysterious our plight may be; we can trust that He is watching, guiding, and protecting us even when all looks so horribly lost.
I struggle with a belief in a benevolent God. What about kids who starve in the Sudan don’t they count?
Thanks! I needed this today so the timing is, as always, providential.

Excellent advice.
Applies, as well, to health issues. I had a health scare recently, and, after I prayed for God to help me to accept His plan for me, a wonderful peace descended upon me. (Turned out to be non-life-threatening, after all.)
Yes, it is difficult not to worry about grown children. I think there is a saying from St. Padre Pio — and I am paraphrasing, “If you worry, prayer won’t do any good. If you pray, you don’t need to worry.”
aec? like a curved line between two points, if my geometry serves me correctly.
I think you mean “ark.”
And daily Mass is wonderful for that prayer, too.
I think he built an ARK.
The canned goods, guns, ammo, etc still apply.
LOL! Then I spelled it wrong. Oh, well, the e and the r are worn out on my keyboard.
This was very inspirational to me tonight.
Thank-you for posting this.
I am down to my last $2000.
I am less apprehensive about this, because of your post.
Tomorrow I will fight another day.
And remember to pray.
Sadly, Blackirish, people starve only at the hands of other people, not because the means doesn’t exist to feed them. That isn’t God’s fault.
