Prayers from the Freep crew requested
Me | Axenolith

Posted on 02/02/2013 12:36:19 PM PST by Axenolith

My surviving Grandfather on my mothers side is knocking at the Lords door. It will be any time now. He was born march 13 1912, and he is passing at the house he retired in, in the mountains, with family, and never spent any time in hospitals and such.

With regards to prayers, he wouldn't want anything of the Lord but to look out for "folk who'd probably need blessings more than me", and I'd concur with that on my end seeings as the Lord blessed me with all my grandparents up until I was ~43 and they are/were all salt of the earth good people.

Dear Heavenly Father, We ask You to be with Axenolith’s Grandfather. Relieve any discomfort or fear he may have, Lord. Comfort his family. Allow them to love and grieve together as a family during this most difficult and trying time. When Your time is right, Lord, bring him home to Your Glory. In This I Pray. Amen.

My dad will celebrate his 100th bithday this year on March 13th. Looks like your dad beat him by a year. Soon to be 101, correct?

Like you, I am blessed to be fairly old (50) and still have one grandparent and she is 95.

One of my favorite scriptures:

Psalm 33:17 “Your eyes will see The King in His beauty and the highland of Heaven far away.”

Blessings to you and your family

Axenolith... I was just going to say, if your Granddad is lucid, make sure you ask him anything you want to know now. My kids don’t have any grandparents and I feel sorry for them. My son was just a tyke when his Pop-Pop died and the older two very young when their last Grandmother passed. They’ve asked questions about their grandparents childhood, their early schooling, etc.. and I don’t have the answers. Jot down any wonderful stories he may have told you for future generations. Memory fades with time but that information is precious! Hugs, Mom

May the good Lord be with him for a very peaceful transition, and peace that passes understanding.

Thank you for the ping, Darks.

Axenolith, the highest calling of a man is to protect women, children, and those in despair. Tis what makes us men.

We gather to celebrate the life of a man, and prepare to mourn his passing. With each such passing, we are less civilized, less educated, less social.

Lord, how I miss my grandparents, parents, and wife - mom of my children.

With each such passing, I have found myself being looked to for guidance, perhaps by default, but nonetheless a councelor to my tribe. It appears time for you to take those reins with the trust, honor, and love of your family and tradition.

May our Lord bless you strongly in this endeavor.

Lord, be with this man in the hour of his trial and grant him his intention.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell and lead all souls to heaven especially those most in need of Thy mercy.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, amen.
