Pray for our American Heroes
February 2, 2012 | Irish Rose

Posted on 02/02/2013 12:40:09 PM PST by Irish Rose

Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.
Give ear and come to me;
hear me, that your soul may live.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
my faithful love promised to David.
(Isaiah 55:1-3)

Father in heaven, as You have invited us, we come to You.

Lord, we pray for the men and women in our military, that You will protect them as they carry out their duties, and help them to protect others.

Father, as the Boy Scouts consider changing their policy, we ask You to give them the strength and conviction to stand firm.

Lord, You call the weary to come to You and find rest, and You call all who are thirsty to come to the waters. There the thirsty buy wine without money and milk without cost, and those who have no money buy and eat. You know, Lord, and we know how we spend our money on what is not bread, and our labor on what does not satisfy us. But when we listen to You and eat what is good, our souls will delight in the richest of fare. Father, we give ear and come to You; we hear You, and our souls live. You have made an everlasting covenant with us, Your faithful love promised to David. We thank You for Your gracious invitation, for how freely You give us drink from the eternal waters, and we come to You in the Name of Jesus, Amen.

New Eyes

February 2, 2013

A college student I met had recently placed her faith in Christ. She described her initial life-change this way: “When I trusted Christ for salvation, it felt like God reached down from heaven and placed a new set of eyes in my eye sockets. I could understand spiritual truth!”

It was moving to hear how her encounter with the Savior brought new spiritual perception. But her experience is not unique. Everyone is endowed with spiritual sight when they trust Christ as their Savior. Yet, at times a “fog” rolls in and our spiritual vision becomes cloudy and unclear. That happens when we neglect our relationship with Him.

In Paul’s fervent prayer for believers’ spiritual sight, we see how important it is to fully appreciate all that God has done and will do for us through Christ. He prayed that the eyes of our understanding would be enlightened that we “may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints” (Eph. 1:18).

Each believer has been given new eyes to discern spiritual truth. As we keep our hearts tuned to God, He will help us to see with our spiritual eyes all that He has given to us in Christ.

My soul within me yearns for Thee
Till Christ be fully formed in me;
Let love divine enlarge my heart,
Then all Thy fullness, Lord, impart. —Stewart
I once was blind but now I see!

Read: Ephesians 1:15-21

The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know . . . the riches of the glory of His inheritance. —Ephesians 1:18

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR OUR AMERICAN HEROES AND FOR OUR BELOVED NATION!

GEN. GEORGE WASHINGTON
THE PRAYER AT VALLEY FORGE

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise lie a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

Heavenly Father, Lord of the Nations, unto Your Divine Mercy we commend the souls of these brave men and women who have fallen in the service of our Beloved Nation and in defense of the Freedoms we hold dear. We pray that You gather them in Your loving embrace, that You cause Your countenance to shine upon them, and that You vouchsafe their souls to dwell eternally in Your Divine Presence. Through Jesus Christ Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

OH LORD, every single jot and tittle of YOUR WORD speaks volumes....the simple word: COME has such promise. Promise of forgiveness, promise of Salvation, promise of peace, promise of ETERNAL LIFE...promise of Covenant blessing. OH LORD...YOU bid Come...open the ears of those who avoid YOU, who don’t know YOU, who hunger and thirst and don’t know what it is that they are striving for...bid them COME. For our Military men and women..bid them COME to the Shadow of YOUR WINGS...protect them as they serve. For those in need of strength and Mercy, bid them come to those who are strong in Faith for encouragement. We pray....Amen.

Thank you for praying for our American heroes. May God send His angels to guard your ways.

We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. (1 Corinthians 2:12)
