Pray for our American Heroes

Dear Father, we thank You for this time, and we seek You together.

Lord, You know our military's needs, and we ask You to meet them according to Your kindness and provision.

Father, we pray that Your staff would lead and comfort those Syrian Christians now in danger; keep watch over them, and be a refuge to them.

LORD, You alone are God through ages everlasting; from ancient days You have revealed and saved and proclaimed. You fulfilled everything You spoke by Your servants the prophets, and Your words stand forever. The prophets who carried Your revelation, the martyrs who loved You more than life, the saints who believed in Your Name – all testify to who You are, to the constancy of Your love and Your greatness. Because You are our Lord and Savior, the Shepherd who leads us and the Father who remembers us, we are confident of this: We will see Your goodness in the land of the living. Teach us Your way, O LORD; lead us in a straight path, and we will take heart and wait for You. We pray in the Name of Jesus Christ, who has made our hope sure, Amen.

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise lie a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.
