Pray For Our American Heroes and Our Nation

1 How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?

2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and day after day have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?

3 Look on me and answer, Lord my God.
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death,

4 and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,”
and my foes will rejoice when I fall.

5 But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation

6 I will sing the Lord’s praise,
for he has been good to me.

Psalm 13 (NIV)

The Forgotten Man – image from McNaughton Fine Art Company

But God will never forget the needy;
the hope of the afflicted will never perish.

Psalm 9:18 (NIV)

The finale of the Gold Diggers 1933
portrays the dispirited World War One veterans
- the Forgotten Man -
struggling in the malaise of the Great Depression

Please feel free to check out clip below of
Remember My Forgotten Man

http://youtu.be/CzMy7-7WV44

In the last minutes,
the scene of the homecoming veterans
are quite poignant

This number from the 1930s speaks today of
the Forgotten Man and Woman
especially the veterans who have come home
and are suffering in this recession
as well as the wounds of war

------------------------------

Heavenly Father –

We lift up all those who are hurting and see no relief from their current circumstances. This is especially true for those who are jobless during a deep recession. It seems the elite, who should be looking out for the people, have forgotten about those they were elected to serve - especially those who have sacrificed and served our country.

We lift up the wounded warriors, who bear scars on their psyche, as well as their bodies. May they not be forgotten and be surrounded by those who love and care for them as they recover. May we not forget the families of those who are MIA as they struggle for closure.

May we remember that You have not forgotten us as You alone give hope and strength to the afflicted. May we see our deliverance only in You as we have no other Savior.

In Jesus Name,
Amen

Expect Great Things

March 1, 2013

William Carey was an ordinary man with an extraordinary faith. Born into a working-class family in the 18th century, Carey made his living as a shoemaker. While crafting shoes, Carey read theology and journals of explorers. God used His Word and the stories of the discovery of new people groups to burden him for global evangelism. He went to India as a missionary, and not only did he do the work of an evangelist but he learned Indian dialects into which he translated the Word of God. Carey’s passion for missions is expressed by his words: “Expect great things from God; attempt great things for God.” Carey lived out this maxim, and thousands have been inspired to do missionary service by his example.

The Bible tells of many whose faith in God produced amazing results. Hebrews tells of those “who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong” (11:33-34).

The list of heroes of the faith has grown through the ages, and we can be a part of that list. Because of God’s power and faithfulness, we can attempt great things for God and expect great things from God.

Can paint the clouds that drift on by,
Can send the sun across the sky,
What can His power do through you? —Jones
When God is your partner, you can make your plans large!

Thank you for such a beautiful post NEWwoman. No one outside the brotherhood of the military can really understand what lies in the hearts and minds of those who serve. Last year I worked for a while at an American Legion hall as a waitress and there these ones comes to fellowship and share and remember...There is honor for each other, honor for the fallen, honor for the hurting, honor for the ones still serving. OH LORD, reignite the song in us, the countrymen, that PRAISED YOUR NAME...GOD BLESS AMERICA. Help us to honor those with LOVE that served this country. May we never judge them in light of how we judge our leaders. OH LORD, a house divided among itself will fall. BRING AMERICA back to its roots, on its knees...Amen.
