VATICAN CITY (AP) - Cardinals from around the world gathered Monday inside the Vatican for their first round of meetings before the conclave to elect the next pope, amid scandals inside and out of the Vatican and the continued reverberations of Benedict XVI's decision to retire. Old Scratch is working overtime against this Conclave, isn’t he?
I sense this is why B16 did 8 years as Pope, continue where JP2 left off.
JPII was a holy man but IMHO, a lousy pope. He allowed the bishops to do whatever they wanted and appointed some pretty horrible ones and elevated even worse. I don't know how a Pope who's paying attention could have allowed the elevation of Roger Mahony to the status of Cardinal... JPII made him a bishop, then Archbishop of the largest diocese in the USA and finally a Cardinal. Horrible decisons.
although true, you'll never read that headline
Not the 'intelligentsia', the AP nor its anti-Catholic columnists named nicole.
These “scandals” in the church that the media trumpets are all creations of the self-same media.
They've had that article title ready ever since the last Conclave.
They probably also have a half dozen or so about the horrible infighting among the Cardinals ready and waiting several titles already picked out for the series they're already writing about how disappointed "everyone" is with whoever is chosen.
Besides, what scandal? There’s only scandal if one allows one’s faith to be impacted by another’s misbehavior. Here’s a “Captain Obvious” headline we won’t see: HUMANS SIN.
